This should be a great game and seemingly a must-win for either team. 32-19 after the first quarter and San Antonio is coming out very aggressive on both ends. They really don't want to lose this game
Man, SA got some great minutes out of Diaw that quarter. He made smart plays on offense, and surprisingly James was reluctant to go at him.
Guess who's finally woken up.
So far, I think the team that has had more pressure to win has won every game.
Tony Parker is dominating the Heat's Point Guards early. The Spurs have let him go one on one instead of using the pick, and it's working very good for them so far. As far as the Heat, the ball is not moving at all. Wade is aggressive but he plays with the ball too much. Lebron hasnt been aggressive. They should have been running Diaw, instead Lebron settled for jumpers while Diaw barely guarded him.
The Spurs are playing some amazing defense right now
Chalmers is really stinking it up at both ends
I hate this, spurs shoot lights out again, were on the way to another boring game, I bet they play sloppy next game and lose.
Green just equalled Allens record for most 3s in the finals. This is a crazy shooting performance he is putting up. I couldn't think of a better player to do this, doing the hard yards in the D league and now lighting it up in the finals. Great story.
Danny Green has been unbelievable all series, if the Spur win he has to get serious consideration for finals mvp
To be honest if the Spurs would win the series tonight, I can't think of anybody else than Danny Green getting the finals mvp.
^^ im with you bro. if they win it all Danny has gotta get the MVP. no doubt.
I think Tony Parker should get a lot of credit for helping Green get those open looks and scoring some of his own, but Green's shooting performance has been one of the best in NBA history.
Danny Green should be the next guy to "get buckets" with Uncle Drew and Wes.
So let me get this straight...
Danny Green > Dwyane Wade.
Haha. Love the NBA Finals.
Not only has Green been shooting lights out be his defense has been spectacular
Chalmers is horrible...
Spurs playing incredibly hard. They are getting so many hustle points. Normally Miami is the team that makes all the athletic, open-court plays, but in this game the Spurs are killing in transition. Heat only down four, though, and the Spurs have been a little lucky at times in this game, though, so the Spurs are going to need to continue play with this crazy intensity.
Manu Ginobili is the Pirlo of basketball.
That Manu's so hot right now...
Norris Cole is getting abused this game.
Wade makes some of the most terrible decisions in basketball! What is he thinking sometimes. Its the FINALS! You play your best now. You dont experiment!
Norris Cole has completely disappeared and has been punked by everyone he guards tonight !
Im pretty sure there's a stat out tonight that will probably show that Spurs players are 8-8 with Norris Cole defending them in game 5.
yeah, when wade is good he is pretty darn good. but when he's bad(usually) my god he's a team killer. for some reason once he starts making these back-to-back turnovers looking like he forgot how to dribble. i guess he tries to do too much sometimes. its like it just crushed all the momentum they had to get back into the game
I hope you meant Norris in your post and not Wade.
yea norris has been awful, but no i was actually talking about when the heat cut it to 3 or 4 in the 3rd and he got ripped back to back, one was from driving the lane filled with 4 defenders. i didnt mean the whole game or anything alike. he's hit some pretty big shots tonight
Danny Green has made the Heat's job so much harder. You just saw with that Manu play to end the half that Lebron couldn't help because otherwise they'd leave Green open.
All they have to do is keep on driving on Green's side.
LeBron is really struggling out there. Missing shots and just a little out-of-suync. The spacing advantage the Spurs have is huge. The Heat have struggled shooters jumpers in this series and the lane is really choking up on them. The Spurs, on the other hand, have been absolutely on fire shooting in all five games so far, and it is really opening up the court for them.
Manu played great, Duncan and Parker chipped in, Danny Green shot the lights out and Kawhi quietly killed the Heat all night...
Spurs in 6
My Spurs in 6 is still holding up well. Will be interesting if the Spurs can finally be the team to beat the Heat b2b this playoffs.
I still think the Heat are a great team, but what I see in these finals and what I've always felt is that outside of Lebron, their team is not smart at all. They make all the wrong decisions. They have bad timing, usually Lebron just carries them and bails them out. But when he's not on and those guys have to think for themselves, they get exposed, and it shows that they are simply not smart players.
Why does it seem like the Heat only make runs after terrible calls? Diaw gets a bow strait to the face, somehow got called for an offensive foul, and then that three. It's despicable to watch sometimes.
Spurs have to guard Ray Allen or prepare to watch a lead slip away
Spurs have got red hot at the best time of the year. when a team shoots like this it's practically impossible to beat them. I think Miami is the better team but i also thought the spurs would sweep the warriors and they end up catching fire and nearly knocking them out. but wow danny green is gonna get PAID lol. i bet hes dreaming of his next contract
This series has had some very very good basketball. I think the fans win on this one.
Miami could definitely come back and win this game........................if they woulda signed T-Mac
Terrible decision from Lebron there on that moving screen. That was such an important possession with a chance to cut it to single digits.
The next 3 point competition should just be between Danny Green and Stephen Curry.
Spurs should relish in this moment. There were terrible calls on both ends, but I've never seen a team that didn't foul, while the other team fouled every other play. This won't happen in Miami.
But it came too late, too many points and too much DANNY GREEN LOL...
In fairness the Heat have Ray Allen and D Wade playing great basketball and if they keep that going in Miami the Heat could win this series in 7
Spurs in control now...should be a great finish in Miami, but the Spurs have been a lot more level and consistent than Miami thus far through 5 games.
I think it is fair to say that if Danny Green didn't play this way, the Spurs wouldn't have much of a chance.
Up 3-2 going to Miami, I'm praying for a 7 game series, especially because my boss gave me Thursday off.
Who cares if they wouldn't have a chance without Green's play? I know he has been shooting amazingly, but he was already one of the best 3 shooters in the league. The Spurs are winning because they are outworking the Heat, they have better ball movement and continue to get better shots.
It also doesn't help that Boris Diaw guards LeBron for 10 minutes straight and LeBron goes 1-8.
If Wade didnt play this way,the heat wouldnt have much of a chance...matter of fact series would be over.
A couple Heat notes from this game.
-Lebron lost confidence in himself and grew frustrated with San Antonio's relentless and persistent effort on all aspects of basketball. This This is why many people will never say Lebron is a better all time player then Kobe, because he mentally checks out at times, makes excuses, complains to refs, makes bonehead frustration fouls and does things you expect a 20 year old to do not the best player in the world to do. Its game 5 King, come on.
-Lebron and Wade literally lost this game by taking plays off. I don't mean not focusing, I mean I must have saw them sitting on the ground with their arms stretched out complaining to the refs about a no call at least five times each in this game. Whether or not they were fouled at those times makes no difference the point is not getting back on D was giving San Antonio all kinds of easy threes and layups, and not to mention momentum especially since especially the game was in San Antonio.
-Spoelstra really should be giving Joel Anthony some playing time. San Antonio was just getting WAY too many easy layups off penetration. Battier has not been contributing on offense or closing out on shooters and especially when Diaw and Duncan are on the court together its not like Diaw is going to torch him. There is no reason why Anthony's offensive limitations should be a problem since everything Miami runs is either ISO or a pick and roll with Bosh.
-Spoelstra still has no control over this team. When Miami was faced with adversity they ended up playing themselves out of slumps and proving they are superior talents, although they could never rally and maintain productivity, time and time again they would stop playing system basketball and crumble. Eddie has to be able to rally this team together or he could be close to losing a job.
"This is why many people will never say Lebron is a better all time player then Kobe"
There are people who already think so. I disagree, though.
Does anyone else get extremely irritated watching Shane Battier grapple with people off the ball and then flail around like he's been punched when they try to dislodge him? The refs are constantly rewarding his flops and I'm surprised at how well the Spurs players are taking it. It's sickening to watch that kind of display get rewarded on the biggest stage.
