I’m Just wondering what you guys think the NBA/PA should do over the next year. IMO they need to stop this system where there’s an impending lockout almost every ten years. The Players and Owners should become partners instead of employer/employee. To me, the ideal system would be where teams are rewarded for doing well and get a % of the NBA profits as well as the Players. Instead of owners paying players, the owners and players both get a % of profits based upon the success of the organization/individual(aka they both work for the NBA). I know there’s a lot of kinks to be worked out, and I’d like to here all of your opinions because this is a very interesting topic to me.

hard to say. I think the current system is pretty damn good to be honest. Nobody has any real problems with the rookie salaries so that is a non issue. i do think the owners would like to cut one year off the max contract to make it 5 years instead of 6. But otherwise, things are okay in the nba. I would stick up for the owners more, but after seeing some of the contracts that went out htis summer and how the tax line actually went up, i question how much they are struggling.

I agree that the summer’s events didn’t help the owners appeal, but youhave to feel for them a little. They either get binded into paying a guy 100million when they don’t know whats going to happen to the league/economy or they get passed over and left in the dust by the larger, more fruitful teams.

yeah, its tough for the owners becasue the current system makes them compete aginst each other and teams end up overpaying. I believe 4 teams have been sold in the last 24 months. The lakers who just won the world title have said they lost millions last year. The economy sucks and owners are basicaly owning teams not becasue it makes them money, but because they do it for hobby and enjoyment. But nobody is making them pay amir johnson 35 mill. Nobody is making them pay joe johnson 125 mill. If they continue to do this, i cant get all upset that owners are being taken advantage of. i think the biggest thing that probably needs to be changed is the max length of a contract, becasue we always see a couple guys a year who do nothing either due to injury or just not being good and they make it hard for the team to operate.

Personally, i dont care what they have to do, if they screw the fans over again and make us miss games and watch a half as.sed season where they play 50 games in 2 months, im gonna be pissed.
