Tony Wroten looks strong, and he wasn’t able to bench press 185 pounds is weird. I weigh 145 pounds, and I can bench that.

Bench press has no real value in the nba i think squats are more of an indicator as to base strength wich is needed to bang in the post.

The Trail Blazers, who hold the No. 6 pick in the draft, will work out Ohio State F Jared Sullinger on Wednesday.

The Warriors, who have the No. 7 pick, are also keen on Sullinger. He may not actually be taken in the mid-lottery range, however, especially after a poor showing at the pre-draft combine. Sullinger had a relatively high body-fat percentage (10.7 percent), his nine weight-bench reps were unimpressive, he struggled in agility drills (12.77 seconds, slowest of any first-round prospect), and his sprint time of 3.81 seconds was the second-worst of any prospect.

Am I the only one that gets a little depressed when they read "relatively high body fat percentage at 10.7%"? fml

in my opinion here are the :

    .WINNERS:

.harrison barnes: to me, the clear winner at the combine..everybody said he was not athletic or fast enough to be a superstar..well numbers don’t lie so that is not true anymore.. i believe after this he has a chance to be taken at Nº 2.

.quincy miller: everybody is afraid of his injury but even though his game still leaves many questions his numbers at the combine are crazy: 6’9 w/o shoes, 7’1 wingspan, 36 max .vert. and 11’05 in the agility test, not bad..few weeks ago was seen as a 2nd round, now might climb to 15-25 1st round.

.kendall marshall: 37 max.vert.!! all said.. lotery lock.

.terrence jones: 6’8.25 w/o shoes..7’2 wingspan and 34.5 max.vert. are really good numbers.. might slip into lotery.

.meyers leonard: 7 ft w/o shoes along with 7’3 wingspan, 5’7 body fat and big hands..thought his max. vert. would be higher but still those numbers are great for the tallest player in the draft..might slip into lotery.

.perry jones: ok everyone knew he’s a freak of nature but he confirmed it..6’10.25 w/o shoes, 7’2 wingspan, 38 max.vert. and 3’16 in the speed test… lotery lock.

    *notable mention: miles plumlee, m.denmon, d.j.odom, m.teague, b.beal, a.rivers, j.taylor,t.zeller, d.green, j.crowder, m.harkless,d.lillard and t.robinson.

    .LOSERS:

.kevin jones: 6’6 w/o shoes for an unathletic PF is not very promising.. 2nd round, might drop a few positions.

.will barton: has solid size and wingspan but his 174 pds plus his terrible agility and sprint test for a wing player leave many questions.. 2nd round and droping..

.jared sullinger: 6’7.75 w/o shoes when before season started was said he had grown to 6’10..11.2 body fat, small hands and can’t jump..still will probably be lotery because of talent.

dion waiters: only measured 6’2.5.. if beal or rivers had measured that they would drop big..still it appears he had a promise..¿toronto?

    *notable mention: s.machado, t.holloway and j’covan brown.

Quincy Acy was pretty outstanding the whole combine. He has a chance to climb even further.

I really do not see Kendall Marshall as a winner his vertical is not the most important number. The numbers that mattered for him was agility which was in bottom 6 of the whole combine. That number shows that he will have a lot of trouble staying in front of any type of quick guard. By comparison Lillard was almost 1 sec faster and Wroten 1.5 sec, to me that is a huge red flag.

Yeah tbh I wouldn’t put too much stock in these numbers. I remember Kyrie Irving was being questioned for his relatively high body fat% and look how he turned out.

These are just numbers in a closed setting. They’re nifty to look at, but it’ll only account for 1/10 of the reasons why a team will draft a certain player.

I’d care more about Marshall’s ability to pass the ball than his ability to run a drill.

Tony Wroten can’t shoot a FT, so I think the fact he’s faster side to side doesn’t really matter when comparing him to Marshall.

I was not saying Wroten is better than Marshall but being from Toronto and even though I love Calderon, I know when you have guard with below avergae lateral quicks you need a great defensive coach like we got last year in Casey otherwise its a big problem. Both Wroten and Marshall have issues. They both have bust potential to me.I think Wroten upside is a bigger Rondo, and Marshall’s is Andre Miller.

I agree with you there. I just think Marshall’s current ability to distribute is of greater value than Tony Wroten’s lateral speed. That’s all I was trying to say.

I think Wroten’s upside is more of that of Iman Shumpert, without the shooting.

And he’ll be a mainstay in the NBDL for years to come, but Miles Plumlee, holy crap.  I don’t know if I’ve ever seen numbers like that for someone of his size in the combine.  A few others that jumped out at me:

     – Harrison Barnes is far more athletic than I thought

     – Andre Drummond is less athletic than I thought

     – J’Covan Brown has the testing results of someone from the WNBA.  Seriously, when I played in high school I had better numbers than that athletically.

I know none of these numbers really say anything.  Put a ball in someone’s hands and they can seemingly gain 4 inches or lose 4 inches on their vertical, depending on who they are.
