paradigmnParticipanthes doing drills right now…LOOKS GOOD!!!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:14am #533306
JoeWolf1Brooks is soo long, he’s a guy I haven’t seen much of during the NCAA season, but he’s a very fluid athlete.
Jon Deibler looks terrible, running the break and handling the ball in transition is obviously not his strength, but he’s not even hitting his jumpers.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:15am #533307
sheltwon3ParticipantI have Brooks going pretty high in my mock. I think at worst case he is Nick Young and he seems to be more mature game wise than Nick is right now.
0- Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 10:04am #533453
nwk2bkParticipantI am hoping Brooks slides to 27 with the Nets. I see in alot of mocks people have him in round 2. Imo he is the 2nd or 3rd best 2 guard in the draft.

paradigmnParticipantya..he did look AWFUL…LOL
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:26am #533312
Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah man were the commentators ever hating on Darrius Morris. They were also hating on Corey Joseph who looked very good on defense. It’s not a stretch to think he gets into the late first round based on his defense and potential. Who was number 14 for the PG’s? They don’t always do a great job of identifying who is on the court.
Marshon Brooks looks amazing he is easily the best 2 guard at the combine and thus far was the best player on the court overall. Josh Selby also looked pretty good.
Travis Leslie is killing my speakers right now with all these clanks off the rim.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:36am #533319
JNixonParticipantYou guys should take the combine with a grain of salt…Because Marshon Brooks doesn’t have a more mature scoring game than Nick Young at all. It’s not a good idea to throw out a season’s work of play for the combine. Measurements are more important than how they do in drills.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:39am #533321
lakanoParticipantIt’s funny how awkward it got when they talked about the amount of players in the league that smoke bud.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:41am #533322
paradigmnParticipantits a HIGH amount…no pun intended
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:44am #533325
JoeWolf1@Iggy…Totally, but the thing that impressed me most about him in the drills was his length and his fluidity as an athlete. Traits that I feel can be showcased in drills like this.
Josh Selby is money shooting jumpers, I also feel his handle is tighter than it was during the season. He’s not doing well shooting off the drive though, there are some tall SG’s in this class and the taller guys are giving him trouble.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 5:47am #533326
paradigmnParticipantim gettting TWEETS from someone that this site forbids me to mention who is at the combine right now and says scouts really like how KLAY THOMPSON looks……I dont really like how ESPN is televising this…its kinda hard to tell at times what people are doing.

0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 6:08am #533339
sheltwon3ParticipantEveryone has their opinions but it is more than the combine that I based stuff off so it will come down to wait and see.
I mentioned I was high on Brook before the combine and people were comparing him to Kobe like in scoring.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 6:15am #533341
sheltwon3ParticipantLOL
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 6:50am #533351
Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah so anyway’s Marshon Brooks lead the most competitive league in college basketball in scoring. You know the Big East? The same conference that had the most teams in the tourney and the same conference that gave the tourny the eventual winner. Yeah well in that tough conferance Marshon Brooks on a team void of any talent around him and with defenses focused in on him every game put on show after show. Now he is at the combine putting on a show.
Brooks has a huge wingspan and is extremely fluid both in the open court and with the ball in his hands and has an effortless looking shot that is barely even hitting the rim at the combine.
Tobias Harris looked like he is in great shape as did Marcus Morris who did not look out of place with the small forwards.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 6:58am #533353
HitsterParticipantThe combine’s drills don’t tell us a lot and we probably know fairly well how the guys will measure out but what goes on behind the scenes will be massive with teams meeting with players, arranging workouts, looking at medical records etc. We may not learn a lot as fans but I’m sure that the Front Offices will learn hell of a lot of what they want to know.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 7:44am #533369
TRC1991Participantthe power forward group just got done. kenneth faried’s offensive game is not very advanced but hes long and was doing well in the sprints. jon leuer was dead last in the sprints at the end but was hittin his shots. markieff morris is far and above the most skilled 4 that was participating. (the group included jajuan johnson, kenneth faried, john leuer, malcolm thomas, markieff morris, and justin harper)
malcolm thomas looked more skilled than i initially thought but hes very small for a 4, hes 6’7” 218 lbs. but his wingspan looked insane.
jajuan has an awkward release and thin shoulders but his mid-range facing the basket game is fantastic
justin harper didnt really stand out but he looks tall

Lotto StudParticipantHow was Selby!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 8:10am #533385
Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah Markieff Morris was extremely impressive.
Kenneth Faried looks ready to play in the NBA tonight for the Mavs to sure up their frontcourt.
Enes Kanter looked like a ringer at the combine, I know he heard that before.
Jeremy Tyler looked really good. Even the announces all paused after he hit 3 straight jumpers that didn’t even touch the rim.
Did anybody else notice when they were talking about Kanter somebody said he compares to Al Horford at which point Tom Penn declared "Al Horford is a power forward!"
And Ibaka would definitly be in the question for the number one pick if he was in this draft.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 8:18am #533391
JNixonParticipantSerge Ibaka wouldn’t be the 1st pick in this draft.

MagikKnickParticipantIs Scottie Pippen a scout for a team? I remember talks of him possibly being hired by the Bulls but nothing official…and I doubt Scottie would just be at the combine for his own personal interest, but hey, you never know..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 8:51am #533407
Lotto StudParticipantIf I stand correct B.J. Armstrong is the Bulls scout
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 8:55am #533409
JoeWolf1I saw him sitting with Randy Brown, he may have a position with the Bulls, but he may have just been there because it was in Chicago.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 9:02am #533413
kobyzParticipantit’s not surprise Jeremy Tyler hitting jumpers, even with his size he is very uncomfortable in the post, his mid range shooting touch is his best weapon!

Lotto StudParticipantWhen will the agility tests take place? I can’t wait for the vert test! I’m gonna go out on a limb & say Leslie will not post the highest vert. I don’t know who will but I think we will see a sleeper sneak up on us.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 10:20am #533463
providencefriars1ParticipantWow so much Marshon Brooks love, ive got to admit I did not see this type of rise coming even after that stellar season.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 10:24am #533469
BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantAccording to the Detroit Free Press, Darius Morris was measured at 6′ 5 1/4" 190 lbs.
The NY Post has the Nets GM Billy King saying he is looking to deal up or get another first rounder.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 11:14am #533506
delfamParticipantnone of these big men know how to rebound, everytime they grab the rebound high and when the pivot around the drop the ball to their waist. KEEP THE BALL HIGH. I have not seen one guy do this, why bring the ball low and let the small PG’s be able to steal it from you. You have to form good habits.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 11:39am #533523
mikeyvthedonParticipantKemba Walker measured it at 5’11.75 (3/4), without shoes (OOOOOH!). I for one, am not surprised whatsoever and think this holds little to no relevance on his draft stock. If you add the 1.25 inches shoes add to a players height on average, than he is 6’1 with a pair of kicks, which was actually taller than I expected. I did not know if Kemba would crack 6 with shoes on, so to people making a big deal about this one, chill out.
Apparently, Tristan Thompson measured at 6’9. Whether this was with or without shoes is unbeknownst to me at this time, but either way, puts to rest people saying that Tristan was actually 6’8, like he was listed at Texas.
Also, the Darius Morris measurement was 6’5 1/4 with shoes. Not incredibly surprised either, as Morris always looked much taller than those he would tend to match-up against.
Tried to dig up some more, but that is about all I have height wise to this point. Alas, I will have to wait like everyone else to see the measurements, but I am so darn impatient!

Lotto StudParticipantWhere is your source from?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 11:55am #533535
Lotto StudParticipantI’m interested in seeing Tobias Harris measurements, because I think this could make or break him in the view of scouts.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 11:56am #533536
delfamParticipant^ why, his skillset in no way is a PF, he plays like a SF. If any GM thinks he’s a PF that’s just dumb.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 11:56am #533537
JNixonParticipantDarius Morris is a big guard. Very nice size. I’m not sure if he’s a PG or SG, but he’s got the physical tools and he’s a good athlete too.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 11:58am #533538
JNixonParticipantTobias Harris is a tweener. I don’t think any GM is necessarily dumb if they think he’s a PF. He’s not a pure SF by any stretch or a pure PF.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 12:00pm #533539
ghettosermonParticipant^^ Morris to me is a clear PG. His best asset is his passing, his shooting is his biggest weakness and pretty horrid right now. I think offensively he has a clear cut advantage with his passing ability and height which allows him to see over a defense. Defensively though I question if he has the lateral quickness to stay with those smaller point guards. Also I worry offensively because he is not a good shooter and he isn’t great at finishing inside. I think the poor man’s Andre Miller comparison is pretty valid. Unfortunately for him he doesn’t have that go to post up game Miller has always had.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 12:00pm #533540
delfamParticipantI agree he’s not a pure SF or PF, but just looking at him there is no way he could guard PF’s in the NBA. His playstyle is that of a SF, IMO he is not a PF.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 12:01pm #533541
Lotto StudParticipantHarris was listed at 6’8” 210 & if he measures at 6’6” that would make him undersized compared to the guys he would have to guard like Melo & LeBron.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 12:21pm #533558
Lotto StudParticipantAlthough Mustapha Farrakhan is a long shot away from being a draft pick, Draft Express measured him with a 35.0 inch no step vert & a max vert of 41.5 inches. With that said what will Travis Leslie test at.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 12:21pm #533559
JNixonParticipantMorris to me is just a big guard who needs the ball to be effective, there is a difference between that and a PG. I like him and he should develop into a player, but passing isn’t really that great with him. He garnered alot of assist playing on a team that basically let him handle the ball alot because he was the only capable Big 10 level handler on the team, and he just got alot of assists by passing to the shooters. He is a tweener to me. He’s not a true PG by any stretch really. He bullied his way to the rim against the competition he faced, and I’m not sure how that will go in the NBA nightly.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 12:25pm #533562
JNixonParticipantFarrakhan was an intriguing player for Virginia, but he’s not a good enough scorer or PG.
I think Leslie will have the same exact numbers though. 35.5 no step and 41.5 running.

mikeyvthedonParticipantGoogle this:
NBA Draft Combine Measurements 2011
Google is this search engine that allows you to find research information on basketball. Also, it sometimes allows you to hear about rumors of things before it is announced on most draft sites. Try it!
So, this is what I have heard, whether it is true we will see. But, it seems incredibly possible.

khaled_a_dParticipantfrom tweeter Kanter measeaured 6’11 in shoes with 7-1.5 wingspan, 259 lbs also
Selby had 6’11 wingspan
Tobias Harris 6-8 in shoes w/a 6-11 wingspan
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 6:55am #533868
Memphis MadnessParticipantKanter number 1?
Kemba measured pretty well. If you’re the Cavs would you roll the dice and take Derrick Williams at one, and hope Kanter falls to 4? Or take Knight or Walker.
