McDunkin(I saw this on another draft site and sorry if all this info has been posted before)
“With most jobs being open for awhile now a lot of teams have shortened their lists after conducting interviews. Once hirings take place a lot of dominoes will fall. (My picks in parenthesis out of guys listed as still on teams list) Here are lists as of now:
Cleveland- Read their initial list consists of Phil Jackson, Coach K, Tom Izzo, John Calapari, Byron Scott, Jeff Van Gundy, Mike Budenholzer (Could see Phil leaving LA if they continue to want him to take half of what he made this year. He could command Lebron’s respect for sure and he only goes to rosters where he knows he can win.)
NJ is likely going to hire Avery Johnson as he is in the lead and only real candidate as of right now from the latest I have read. (Seems to be his only option as he has burned some bridges with other jobs he was in contention for)
NO’s finalist are said to be Tom Thibedeau and Monty Williams after conducting interviews and eliminating some candidates. (Tom Thibedeau…this job would be good for him because they have proven veteran stars that are still young and have been in playoff hunt and verge of being elite out West until injuries derailed them this year.)
Chicago after interviewing candidates at the NBA combine have seemed to narrow their search down to two finalist Tom Thibedeau and Maurice Cheeks (Maurice Cheeks…he is from Chicago.)
Atlanta after interviewing candidates seem to have narrowed their search down to two finalist Dwyane Casey and Mark Jackson (Dwayne Casey….has many ties to Rick Sund who he was worked with before and has a good relationship with.)
LAC- rumor is they will wait until July and probably be last team to hire because they may let their prime free agent make choice, but rumored names are Larry Brown with fall back options Dwayne Casey and Tom Thibedeau. (Their stance on their coach would eliminate the two listed so I will name a guy that has been tied to them as well. Mark Jackson….he played for Clippers and currently lives in LA plus the Clippers seem like a type of team that would hire a guy with no coaching experience.)”
