who you guys got? Im pulling for oregon although i dont honestly watch enough to have a strong feeling either way. But its about time the pac 10 takes the sec down a notch in football.
I have Auburn winning 21-17. I think Killa Cam Newton is going to go out on a bang and pass for +200 yds and +100 rushing yds and 2 TD.
you think auburn's defense can hold oregon to 17? Auburn doesnt even have a top 50 defense in the nation and gave up early leads on the regular. My prediction is oregon 42 auburn 36
Oregon should be able to control the ball with James on the ground, Cliff Harris will dominate field position on Special Teams.
To me, National Title games never live up to their "shoot out" or high scoring. Every year it' seems like it's been low scoring, close games. I think this one will NOT be a shoot out and will be in the 20s.
BOLD PREDICTION: Auburn RB Ontarrio McCaleb will do something in this game that will be "game changing.". He's an underrated speedster for Auburn.
It will be a high scoring game, but I got Auburn winning, Cam Newton is just too good of a player to let them lose.
ANyone else shocked andrew luck is going back to shcool? He was the clear number 1 pick and had an amazing performance in the orange bowl vs virgina tech.
I got Auburn. I watch a ton of college football and i think they are the better team. The ducks are a good team but Cam Newton is just a beast. And Oregon has never played a team as big and strong as the Tigers. The SEC is just the better conf all around. So i got Auburn 45-35
Auburn. I've seen both teams and Auburn seems better overall with the best player on the field in Cam Newton
I say Auburn. The SEC always rules these BCS games and Auburn is much more prepared because of the competition they've faced. I don't really care who wins though. As long as it's a close game:)
since 2000, the pac 10 is 10-5 vs the sec in regular season games.
i see i have some fans on this thread
ugly offense and solid defense, who would have thought.
James reminds me of Darren Sproles..
I told y'all it wouldnt be a shoot out and it never is when it's the National Title Game. Its going to be a low scoring game like I predicted.
1 quarter. Both teams are slow starters. Still early to say it wont hit 30-40 points.
auburn right back with the td.
wow, 3rd and goal from the 3 and they stuff cam newton and then on 4th down cam throws a bad pass to an all by himself reciever in the end zone. Huge stop by the ducks
Auburn is eating a lot of clock when they have the ball and not allowing the oregon offense on the field.
Erin Andrews is hot. You don't even need to see her to tell she's a fox. Just listening to her voice you can tell.
man, i cant believe the auburn player didnt get kicked out for that knee to the head. How is going all MMA on an oppoenent after a play is over only 15 yards?
19-11 auburn and they have all the momentum right now. Ducks could really use a score on this next possesion.
congrats auburn. They won the line of play all game. Coming up empty on a couple redzone trips obviouosly hurt the ducks.
If Cam Newton wins game MVP I'm going to flip. He was at best the third most impressive player for Auburn tonight. Fairley and Dyer deserve it.
yeah newton wasnt all that impressive. But qb's usually get the award. Cam gets a lot of his time to throw due to defenses being threatened by him tucking and running. In the nfl, defenses wont sit back waiting to see if he runs, they are just gonna come right at him and he wont have the time to read the field.
Thank the lord.
Newton looked pretty mediocre. If a mediocre defense (great at forcing TOs, but overall, mediocre) can show that stopping him running basically stops him, because hes only an average passer, then i think he needs alot more work before he is NFL ready.
Fairly, on the other hand should be the no.1 pick. He is a game changer with his play on the D line.
Mad respect to Jeff Maehl and Casey Mathews....hell of a game for those 2, too bad they came up short.
Final score Auburn 22 Oregon 19. Not quite nastradamus, but I was pretty close.
I don't even see how Cam will be first round pick even though he probably will... Outside intangibles, he's not a 1st round QB prospect. I think even Young was a better passer at this point. Also, I think I would take Ryan Mallet for a NFL QB prospect over him if I had to choose between the two.
Cam Newton is going to be a good QB. He's like Josh Freeman was at K-State, except an even better athlete. He has some work to do, just like Freeman did coming in, but he'll be good. He's easily worth taking in the 1st round too. On top of all of his physical and athletic abilities, he's a natural winner. I don't see anything wrong with taking him and making him your franchise QB.
Theres nothing wrong with taking him, hes just a major project at this point.
I like how you know Newton is going to be a good NFL QB, JNixon. And everyone knew Tom Brady was going to win three superbowls as a 7th round pick. It's really inexact... I'm not saying he won't be, but it's impossible to just know he will be a good QB.
When people say they know they dont really know its just there strong opinion that the person will do something. Everyone does it dont take it so literal
"I like how you know Newton is going to be a good NFL QB, JNixon. And everyone knew Tom Brady was going to win three superbowls as a 7th round pick. It's really inexact... I'm not saying he won't be, but it's impossible to just know he will be a good QB."
I don't really know. I'm just making a projection. It does a projection no good if you're not confident in it. For better or worse.
. Man didn't say KNOW. Even if he did....people aren't entitled to his opinion? Comeon son...get off the man's tip
I sincerely doubt Cam Newton will be a good NFL QB. He comes from a spread, so right away there is an adjustment. He can't read a defense literally at all, and his accuracy is overrated by a lot of people. Vince Young had a horrible motion coming out but I feel he was a much better prospect then Newton is. Freeman is leaps and bounds ahead of Newton as a passer and was in college. Freeman was a passer who could run, Newton is a guy who runs that can throw. Big difference.
i think he will be a pretty good QB. Don't know how good because he has certain things he needs to work on. I don't think he will be better then Luck though
He will likely go top 10. I would have him graded out as like a mid-late 2nd rounder at this point.
He will go top 10....he has more potential than Tebow, who ended up going 25th. He might be great, but hes got a lot of work to do at this point.
It's called reading comprehension, Knicksboy1. Saying that Cam Newton is going to be a good QB, which is what JNixon said, is basically saying that he knows that he will be a good QB.
And JNixon, I respect your opinion.
Just got back to my office today, but was at the game. It was amazing, and while my Ducks did not win, they played really tough and I am proud of them. Auburn was bigger and they played the better game, but we had our chances. The best player on the field played for Auburn, but it was not Cam Newton. Nick Fairley was easily the best player on either team, and had even more of an impact than Cam. We were pressured constantly and could not run on their team. We had the best RB in the game, regardless of what Dyer did, which was very impressive, but Auburn's front overwhelmed us, and all in all won them a football game. The turning point was the safety, which not only gave them 2 points, but the ball in solid field position, which is what safety's tend to do. Also, we were constantly crushed, could not score in the red zone and our offensive line could do little to nothing for LaMichael James, which I was afraid of.
I was in a section of Auburn fans, who were exclaiming before the game that they had the best O-Line in the NCAA, and they were very right. Both of our lines were overwhelmed by Auburn's size, and both did as well as they could with that factor. LaMichael still got 2 TD's, and was a definite factor. Dyer's one run was a giant fluke, but incredibly legal. We were very confused and cautious, as we did not want to get a penalty, but ended up giving up far more than any penalty would have gotten us. Gives a new meaning to playing until the whistle blows. His last 20 yard run that was an almost TD was not a fluke, and just poor play on our part, though we did stop him before the goal line. Also, we stopped Cam at the 1! That is hardcore stuff.
Cam Newton was a total force, he had the best season of any player in college football. Really, it will be interesting to see how they do without him, but Dyer/McCalleb will still do very well regardless. Still feel Chip is a better coach than Gene Chizik, unless Chizik keeps getting guys like Newton/Fairley. Still, held Cam to less than 4 ypc, got to him a few times, picked him off (once, almost twice) and Casey Matthews caused that beautiful fumble. They were smart not too kick too Cliff Harris as well. Overall, it was a great experience and hope it is repeated soon, though it will be incredibly difficult to do so. I think we proved we belonged though, and Auburn fans constantly said we were by far the best team they had played all year. Darron Thomas had some horrible passes, but still managed to pass at a better % clip than Cam. The guy has iron in his veins and is a competitor, he could win a Heisman trophy before all is said and done. Could even see him being more of a candidate than LaMichael next year, even though LaMichael should go back to being incredibly dominant with a very deep backfield playing for us next season. We ran him ragged this year and he was beat up, hope that next year he gets maybe 20 carries rather than 25 just to keep him at his best. Well, great season and I am very proud of my team. Congrats to Auburn, but GO DUCKS!
We will have a lot of great players returning, but I do not expect us to be in the championship game. Our first game is against LSU, and while I think we have a good chance of winning it, the Pac-10 will be a lot more difficult next year. We will miss some seniors incredibly though. Jeff Maehl was our player of the game in the BCS championship and a dominant force for us all season. The guy is an underrated athlete and I really hope some team picks him up in the draft, he is a major sleeper that I know guys at ESPN do not talk about at all. But, he has been our best receiver for at least 3 years and he killed it this year. Amazing hands and again, he is a solid athlete. Dana Altman even asked him to be on the basketball team, but he turned it down to focus on football. Casey Matthews has great lineage and a great motor, not to mention he is tough as nails. Our defense is taking a huge loss, Casey Matthews, Kenny Rowe (our best pass rusher for three years, a DE/OLB hybrid), Brandon Bair (came in as a tight end, but was moved to DT. Massive guy, I think at least 6'7 and was a force all season), Spencer Paysinger (leader, great Linebacker who was a starter for a long time), Talmadge Jackson III (our best CB, Cliff Harris got a lot of credit, but Talmadge was our guy), Zac Clark (did a great job at DT this year) and Bryson Littlejohn (he provided a lot of depth for us). Than, on offense we lose Maehl, our other starting WR DJ Davis, and a lot of depth at OL, including our leader Jordan Holmes at C.
Next year our schedule is pretty tough as well. We have to play in Dallas vs. LSU, Nevada is a team that has been decent lately, and I believe Cal, UCLA and USC will all be greatly improved. Also, we play at Stanford, who will have Andrew Luck back at the helm. Their tend to always be surprises, but unless the Ducks run the table, a return to the BCS championship game seems very unlikely. It is my ultimate hope that they would make it to New Orleans for the championship, but the Rose Bowl seems like a more reasonable goal. Still, I hope our players have a great off season and I still expect us to be a premier football team. Expectations will be incredibly high for a number of players, and freshman will no doubt be expected to contribute immediately. LaMichael James, Darron Thomas and Cliff Harris will have all eyes on them, and hopefully will improve on their seasons, which will be very hard to do. Wish them all of the best and looking forward to watching them play next year. GO DUCKS
Stanford is going to be hell in that division next year.
