JNixonParticipantI take it you are from Wisconsin
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:37am #364926
TRC1991ParticipantYancy Gates honorable mention, Cincinnati
10.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 59% FG

sammybuckeye13ParticipantScoop is starting for Syracuse at the point
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=jn-scoop072610
And Rick Jackson should be on one of the three teams.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:43am #364930
JNixonParticipantTHANK GOD they are starting scoop Jardine….Thank God.
And Yancy Gates had trouble scoring last year because he’s out of shape and because of poor guard play…..How will he play now? You thought Deonta Vaughn was a poor PG, imagine the players they had behind him…..He’s in for another underachieving season.
Rick Jackson isn’t that good. Plain and simple. I’d be surprised if he made an All-Conference team.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:43am #364932
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantMelo was one of the most overrated recruits imo…..Rick Jackson will make an All-BE team before him.
Pretty sure Scoop starts this year so he can’t really be 6th man…if Wayns doesn’t start he’s the 6th man
Gibbs is a good choice for best shooter, but I would have went with Hazell…he may be inconsistent, but I haven’t seen very many people on like him.
Wayns on 3rd team also over Sivagood list though
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:45am #364934
BasterdInABasketParticipantYeah im from Wisconsin but DJO is gonna be a 20 point scorer this year. The second half of last year Buzz let him run the offense and did a great job getting into the lane. He was also a 47% 3 point shooter.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:48am #364936
cavsforlifeParticipantwatch out for joe mazzula from wvu and deniz kilicli from wvu as well. Mazzula is finally healthy and will be starting and kilicli will be able to play the entire season so i think those 2 could give some major contributions to what will be another solid wvu team.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:49am #364935
JNixonParticipantJohnson-Odom might prove me wrong. He is a good scorer, but I have doubts he’ll get 20 ppg and stay as quite as efficient as he was last year. Could be wrong though. Didn’t watch all that many Marquette games (but I will next year….Jamail Jones was an old HS teammate of mine)
Maalik Wayns won’t be better than Peyton Siva next season, off of the sheer fact that Siva will have a bunch of freedom. Siva is also more talented too, which will show.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:54am #364942
BasterdInABasketParticipantI like Mazzula a lot. I dont know if hell score enough to be all-conference. He should have the opportunity to score more with all the guys they lost but I still want to see if hell be able to shoot after all the injuries. I remeber his only double digit scoring game last year was in the tourney game vs. UK. Hes a great ball player though penetrating and playing tough D
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 6:55am #364943
JNixonParticipantI probably would’ve put Mazzulla over Melo as D.P.O.Y, but yeah. He’s not talented enough to be an All-Conference player.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 7:02am #364947
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantyou think Siva is better, but i’d take Wayns all day long….he has that bulldog mentality……since L’Ville is going to suck he’ll have more minutes than Wayns, but what Wayns will do when he comes in will be more important that’s if he doesn’t start will be showin out.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 7:04am #364950
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantHerb Pope should be DPOY…..you will be disappointed when Melo comes in…..he won’t do much.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 7:12am #364952
JNixonParticipantHerb Pope doesn’t play D lol. Nobody on Seton Hall does. Saying he will be D.P.O.Y is crazy smh
The only thing Wayns is better than Siva at is D. Nothing else about him is better, even right now. Siva should be more productive than Wayns just off of pure talent and the fact he’ll have the ball all the time. I can tell you like Wayns, and I do too, but as of next season I’d be very surprised if he outplayed Siva.
0- Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 7:30am #364960
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantMAYBE NOT ONE ON ONE DEFENSE……BUT HE’S THE BEST REBOUNDER AND SHOT BLOCKER IN THE CONFERENCE…THAT HAS TO COUNT FOR SOMETHING…
who has Melo played D against? high school little boys? don’t even know if that will translate to the BE.
if you want lockdown I think Kemba can be that guy because of his speed, length and quickness….he should show it very well
Wayns has better handles too and he’s faster with the ball.
Siva can jump more and shoot better.I’m still taking Wayns, i’ll bring it back up at the end of the season and then we’ll see who’s right =]

cavsforlifeParticipantmazzula plays some major d. I think he will be up there for d.p.o.y. but freshman of the year i have really no clue because i can see fab melo being a major bust but maybe that is just my opinion.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 7:34am #364963
scoutguruParticipantI think Chris Wright and Austin Freeman are 1st team w/o a doubt. While Kemba and Fisher are 2nd. Don’t know if Kemba has taken those strides in his game yet to be first team or player of the year, the latter really would shock me. Tim Abromitis is a guy I felt was snubbed on the all-conference teams last year, he should’ve at least made third team. And actually in the Big East (best conference in America) the 1st team consist of 6 players, and the rest 5. Cant wait for Big East basketball to get underway!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 7:35am #364964
JNixonParticipantHerb Pope isn’t going to average more blocks or rebounds than Fab Melo next year. And that whole “who did he play against?” thing can be said for any freshman. I don’t buy that. Melo may not score more than like 12 ppg next year, but if your leading shot-blocker gets 1.8 bpg I’m willing to bet Melo will pass that. Also, Pope wasn’t the leading shot-blocker last year. He is the leading returning shot-blocker. Don’t expect that to stay the same this time next year.
Wayns doesn’t have better handles than Peyton Siva either. Try again. Nothing about him is better besides his D.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 7:38am #364965
JNixonParticipant“Don’t know if Kemba has taken those strides in his game yet to be first team or player of the year, the latter really would shock me.”
Playing against the FIBA team will bring the best out of him this coming season. Expect Walker to break out.
Freeman could make 1st team over Fisher, I agree though. I’m not big on Fisher at all. He’s too wild for my likings. I would actually be proud to be wrong about that
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 8:07am #364985
scoutguruParticipantFisher is wild, I agree, but I like his chances better, and think he’ll play more under control as a senior, similar to scottie reynolds finally having it click as a senior. But Kemba is more “wilder” lol. Playing in a couple scrimmages against top competition doesn’t necessarily make him better. I’m pretty sure you saw what that scout said in that S.I. article posted on the homepage, who watched Kemba play out there in Vegas: “He has good quickness and speed, but he just turns it over too much. He’s too erratic. That was the problem with UConn’s team last year was that he and [Jerome] Dyson turned it over too much and didn’t value the ball enough.”
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 8:14am #364991
JNixonParticipantI think it’s even in terms of who was more erratic.
I think Walker will emerge last year. Ashton Gibbs, Shelvin Mack, Trey Thompkins, etc etc all improved after going up against other top guys. I see the same thing happening with Walker. He’s a bit TO prone, but I expect a big leap in how he runs the team next year. Especially now that Dyson is gone.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 8:39am #365008
scoutguruParticipantAgreed. I hope he does improve and take that next step from being an underclassmen to now being a seasoned vet, with the NBA watching him closely. His play will dictate how that Uconn team does, as he’ll be the unquestioned leader of that team.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:09am #365063
Demarcus OnealParticipantFab Melo plays some mad D he defends the paint in the Mcdonalds All American Game he really impressed me with his shot blocking abilityand Kris Jospeh could slip up inot that first team
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:16am #365065
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI don’t Fab Melo is that good. He’s alright, I don’t think he’s that good.
Also, I think Triche is better then Jardine.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:18am #365070
Demarcus OnealParticipantDont go agaisnt Boeheim he is always right
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:21am #365072
JNixonParticipantI think Melo will get 12 ppg, 11 rpg, and 2 or 3 bpg next season. He’s like a young Andrew Bynum. I expect his presence to be felt more on D than offensively.
Jardine isn’t the raw talent Triche is, but he’s a much better pure PG and he’s a steadier hand. I’d much rather have Jardine run my team than Triche, who seems like a SG trying to become a PG. Triche’s floor vision isn’t good and he’s not a leader.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:36am #365076
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantlmao no way Melo averages a double double
it will be more like
7 ppg
4 rpg
1 block0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:38am #365079
JNixonParticipantLOL alright….You know he’s better than that man. Did he used to bully you by chance?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:39am #365080
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantGo ahead and say it about every freshman….I never give anybody credit until they prove it on the next level. but hey that’s me.
and you WILL be wrong about Fisher. I’ve been watching him alot this summer working out and playing at Dyckman…he’s ready to takeover at Nova.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:41am #365081
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantwho do you think wins the Big East?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:44am #365085
JNixonParticipant“I never give anybody credit until they prove it on the next level. but hey that’s me.”
Same way you keep taking up for Maalik Wayns right? The POINT GUARD who averaged more TO’s than assists last season in limited time? He proved soooooo much last year huh? OK….
I have Fisher in my 1st team All-Conference, so how will I be wrong? Is there a number higher than 1 that I don’t know about? If I’m wrong it’ll be because he’s 2nd or 3rd team next year. I can tell you’re a Villanova fan but calm down…..You might be willing to be unrealistic, but not me
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:45am #365087
Demarcus OnealParticipantVillanova or Pittsburgh due to a down year in the Big East and then Cuse after
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:46am #365088
JNixonParticipantI think it’s between Georgetown, Pitt or Villanova. Since G’Town gets soft, and Pitt doesn’t have good enough post play, I’ll say Villanova takes the Big East next year
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:50am #365093
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantlol you silly…….i’ve watched Wayns the most and maybe the stats don’t show it, but he’s ready for primetime….
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 10:53am #365096
JNixonParticipantBut that’s not what you said though. You said “I never give anybody credit until they prove it on the next level. but hey that’s me.” So that doesn’t apply to Wayns in your case because you’re a fan? Sounds hypocritical to me…..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 12:14pm #365117
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantby proving it I mean atleast show me some flashes of brilliance……
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 1:59pm #365161
Da1potParticipantWatch out for Jason Clark from Gerogetown. He’s one of my sleeper picks to have a breakout year.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 2:14pm #365168
Demarcus OnealParticipantI disagree I think Pitt will be better Villanova because PItt was top 15 team last year and they bring everyone back while Villanova loses Scottie Reynolds who was the heart and soul of the team and more importantly the leader
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/29/2010 - 2:56pm #365189
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantScottie is what ruined the team, great player but he was in the star spot and wasn’t really a star…..Nova now has balance and will really share the shots. and have better chemistry.
