    – Do people realize how overrated Durant is
    – Chicago is under the radar this season ,as far as being competiors and they could do some playoff damage…While I believe Orlando will regress even though Howard will carry them like he has been.
    – LeBron is a more complete offensive player than we will even know because he can’t be forced to do something he doesn’t want to due to his physical abilities.
    – Stephen Curry will never become more than just a good NBA player, de to the fact that Don Nelson is his coach and he will not learn at the most pivotal point in his career
    – Tracy McGrady was the most creative perimiter offensve player hands down. Talk about unstoppable.
    – Dwight Howard is the 3rd best player in the NBA…He has a superior effect on a game than Durant and Wade is RIGHT behind him.

    Feel free to criticize…

Do people realize how overrated Durant is- to a certain extent, when people say he is a top 5 player in todays game, they are correct, when people say he is better then Lebron, then they are overrating what type of special player Lebron is.

    – Chicago is under the radar this season ,as far as being competiors and they could do some playoff damage…While I believe Orlando will regress even though Howard will carry them like he has been. – they have really made themselves a great playoff team by adding Korver, Boozer etc and with the upcoming talent of Noah and Rose I expect a very successful season, I do disagree with Orlando regressing, they may have not made big acquisitions this summer but they have a very good team, though I do believe a talented PG such as CP3’s caliber would put them over the hump, they are well rounded and the deepest team in the league.

    – LeBron is a more complete offensive player than we will even know because he can’t be forced to do something he doesn’t want to due to his physical abilities, Lebron is a great scorer no doubt, but it is more different then being a complete offesnive talent, his post game for his size and height is disgraceful, his mid range game is decent and if you leave him space his 3 point shot is not that great, when hes on, he will shoot well but it is not consistent enough to make him a complete offensive talent, he can get to the rim and foul line at will but I would not put his offensive game on par with the likes of Kobe, Durant, Melo etc

    – Stephen Curry will never become more than just a good NBA player, de to the fact that Don Nelson is his coach and he will not learn at the most pivotal point in his career- well thats assuming he never has another coach or plays for another team and right now we do not know any of that but currently I think he is too talented to not be more then just a solid player, once he becomes a solid defender he will be a regular All Star candidate

    – Tracy McGrady was the most creative perimiter offensve player hands down. Talk about unstoppable.- agree he was magical on the offensive end, that is why he received multiple scoring titles and put him in the argument of which player is better T-Mac or Kobe, if he never suffered from physical injuries he would still be tearing it up, what a shame.

    – Dwight Howard is the 3rd best player in the NBA…He has a superior effect on a game than Durant and Wade is RIGHT behind him.- that is all a matter of opinion but I tend to disagree with you, Howard is an extremely good player and all but top 3 is ridiculous and you talk about overrating Durant, I would put Wade, Melo, Durant and even Chris Paul over Howard right now for the third spot , his offensive game is very raw and he relies heavily on sheer strength and athleticism, individually he is not on par with those other players, yes he can change games and is a force on defense but he does not have a superior effect on games over Durant or Wade, shall I remind you of Wade against Dallas in the Finals a couple years back? Putting his team on his back and leading them to victory, Howard is not reliable to go to down the stretch due to his lack of polished post moves and inability to hit free throws, Durant is a guy that can score and hit free throws down the stretch and overall in a game and is more consistent then Howard is over a whole season.

    – Do people realize how overrated Durant is

    (100% agree)

    – Chicago is under the radar this season ,as far as being competiors and they could do some playoff damage…While I believe Orlando will regress even though Howard will carry them like he has been.

( No, I seen too many people put Chicago as the 3rd seed in the East when they could underachieve. Rose is playing well but this is a season to show his playmaking)

    – LeBron is a more complete offensive player than we will even know because he can’t be forced to do something he doesn’t want to due to his physical abilities.

( Disagree. He doesn’t have a low post game and his jumper is “chilly” at best. He lacks a little bit. He’s not a complete offensive player)

    – Stephen Curry will never become more than just a good NBA player, de to the fact that Don Nelson is his coach and he will not learn at the most pivotal point in his career

( I lean towards disagree. Curry has some things to prove. To me, he will at best be a #2 option)

    – Tracy McGrady was the most creative perimiter offensve player hands down. Talk about unstoppable.

( No way. Gervin, Erving, Jordan, Kobe, Hawkins ( pre-NBA), David Thompson were all better)

    – Dwight Howard is the 3rd best player in the NBA…He has a superior effect on a game than Durant and Wade is RIGHT behind him.

( No he’s not. He doesn’t have a legit post game. He’s a top 7 player but I would rather have LeBron, Wade, Durant, Paul, Williams, Melo and even Duncan as a #1 option over Howard)

Dude..you got balls..Everyone on here loves Durant..to them he cant do no wrong.. But you said the same thing i’ve been saying for the past 2 years..Durant isn’t in the same class as Lebron & Kobe yet..But being the MAN in these games will make him see what it takes to be truly great…

Chicago will be in the hurt for a shot at the Conference Finals..But they lack scoring punch off the bench..2 players must have breakout years if the Bulls really want to Challenge Miami,Boston & Orlando..Deng & Brewer are the keys to how far the Bulls go..Plus they need a big-time scorer off the bench…IF..I said IF..a BIG IF..But IF he would act right Allen Iverson will be the PERFECT Scorer off the bench they need…

Curry will be an AllStar..But he’ll never be a top 10 player..

T-Mac was great..but to say he was the most creative offensive player ever..is a bit too much…

I think Orlando should try changing their style of play..dumping the ball inside to Dwight and surrounding him with 3 point shooters is becoming PREDICTABLE

I have to ask… Name one “Big” game Kevin Durant has ever been in?

All that’s coming up: Game 6 last season vs LA

Let’s let the man earn his stripes.

I dont believe we have truly seen Lebron’s true style of play offensively because, for the past 7 years in Cleveland he was asked to do it all. Maybe now we can see his truest form of offense.

What does that mean? Your’e telling me that for 7 seasons he couldn’t get a mid range jumper and a low post game?

I’m not anti-LeBron but the fact are facts amigo. The man had 7 seasons of no legit #2 option around him. Jordan didn’t get a really good Pippen until 1989. He had 5 monster seasons and truly developed into a beast. LBJ has done the same but unlike Micheal, LeBron hasn’t attempted some of the things he needs to improve on.

You think Mike Brown would have opposed LeBron as a low post scorer ( he didn’t, he played LBJ at the 4 alot last season)

    – I disagree with Durant being overrated. He’s so young, yet already an amazing scorer. He’s also a very good rebounder. He’s mature and wise beyond his years and is about all of the right things. His work ethic is amazing and I honestly believe him when he says he wants to be the best player ever. I doubt he’ll ever pass LeBron, but I won’t say it’s impossible.

    – I disagree with Orlando regressing. I think they’ll finish with the second best record in the East. I think Chicago will be very improved, but I think they’ll still be the fourth best team in the East behind Miami, Orlando and Boston. I’m not sure Chicago is better than Milwaukee. And if Larry Drew puts in a good offensive system, you have to respect Atlanta.

    – I disagree. LeBron is physically dominant, but he’s definitely not a complete offensive player. Only a biased fan would say that he’s complete offensively.

    – I disagree. I don’t think Nelson will be around for much longer. I’m not sure if Curry will be a regular All-Star, but he should be a great point guard.

    – McGrady was amazing on the offensive end, but I’d go with Iverson. To do what he did at 6′ 0″ (some people say he’s shorter) was amazing. IF we’re talking about the great offensive talent EVER, I’d go with Jordan.

    – I disagree. He’s a great rebounder and dominant shot blocker, but he’s still not dominant enough offensively. I do think he’s top five, just not the third best player in the NBA.

That Orlando would be better off with a purer point guard. I think Howard would benefit immensely from a pg that could actually get him the ball and that had good court vision. Nelson isn’t bad, but I don’t think he’s a good starting point guard for a championship quality team.

Right now KD is getting so much love cuz of the world championships since hes by far the teams best player. I dont know if hes really over rated though. He is a top 5 player in the world and the best scorer in the league. Any sensible basketball fan knows that Kobe and Lebron are still better all around players than Durant but hes not that far behind.

I say CHI battles ORL for the 2 seed and I agree Rose needs to become a better distributor especially now since this is by far the most talented team hes ever been on. The loss of Hinrich is going to hurt though.

Lebron needs some serious work on his inside game. When smaller guys like Pietrus and Pierce are guarding him hes gotta be able to muscle up down low dominate. Hopefully this is something we see from him this year since he could have better opportunities down low as defenses focus on Wade too.

Curry needs to be put in the right situation to succeed. David Lee is a start but he still needs a physical wing player and a true physical center to protect on D. He has the talent to score 25 ppg on a bad team but on a contender hed need another big time player. GS should be in a good position to get someone like Barnes or Kanter. They have to get rid of Ellis immediately too.

TMac was unguardable for a few years there with ORL but I consider a lot of the contested shots Kobe hits pretty creative and would take Kobe and AI too

If Dwight could get a consistent offensive game he could probably be the best player in the league but he is nands down the most dominant defender in the league which makes up for it. Too bad their next best big man is his backup and VC is a cancer.

I’ll even argue this: On a title team, is Durant the 5th best option as a number one option? I doubt it.

Lebron, Kobe, Wade, KD and Howard are top 5 in my eyes. 3 years ago Duncan is defintiely in the discussion with those guys and I havent seen enough from Melo that shows me hes going to really dominate down the stretch and make his teammates better like i think those top 5 can.

I was loving this until i read the thing about howard.

Come on man, I really wish you hadnt said that.

Howard is a top 10 at best. No one dimensional or one ended (Defense only) should be a top 5 player in this league. You have to have both. We all know he has no post game and if there were more defensive centers in this league he’d be useless on the offensive end. Look at what he does agains Shaq or Perkins, nothing. Defensive nightmare? absolutely. Offensive Nightmare? yeah, his skillset is a nightmare…

I could a perfect, realistic team for Tim Duncan to win a title right now.

He could still be a #1 on a title team. He just needs more help then he has needed in the past.

Saying Howard has NO post game isn’t true. He has a few moves, but he isn’t consistent.

As for LeBron Being a complete offensive player, I definately see that.

I mean aside from a low post game, what does he really lack? He has a good midrange jumper and great handles. Great vision and athleticism. His only knock in years past has been his perimeter shooting, which he has dramatically improved.

Give lebron the post up game and he’s the most unstoppable player EVER. And you heard me EVER. With his skillset (which is completely absurd for his size) and his Athleticism (might be the most athletically gifted player in the history of this league, or better yet the most athletically gifted human being to ever walk the face of this planet) he has no reason not to be completely unstoppable (which he basically already is at this point).

    – Do people realize how overrated Durant is

I don’t think so I believe people don’t understand how good Durant is period and for his age it is insane what he can do but he is still young and has some flaws but at this age so did Michael Jordan, Kobe and others.

    – Chicago is under the radar this season ,as far as being competiors and they could do some playoff damage…While I believe Orlando will regress even though Howard will carry them like he has been.
Orlando should not regress but I do think some other teams will be closer to them and Miami may even overtake them in the regular season. Chi town is not really under the radar but they are not being hyped as much as you would think but people who talk about speak on how good they are but they appear to be a few pieces away from being a contender

    – LeBron is a more complete offensive player than we will even know because he can’t be forced to do something he doesn’t want to due to his physical abilities.

Huh, I am not sure what you are saying because if he does not acquire the skill and utilize them, he is not a complete offensive player because if he is and he is not using that then he is stupid

    – Stephen Curry will never become more than just a good NBA player, de to the fact that Don Nelson is his coach and he will not learn at the most pivotal point in his career

Don Nelson is his coach for one more season, he has a dad who knows the game and probably could coach considering he taught he boys how to play and shoot better than most NBA players. Curry Will be a top 10 point guard and continue to be top 5 or better in 3 point percentage and 3 point shots taken
    – Tracy McGrady was the most creative perimiter offensve player hands down. Talk about unstoppable.

At times T Mac was the most creative perimeter offensive player but he was not consistent or healthy enough for me to give him this title

    – Dwight Howard is the 3rd best player in the NBA…He has a superior effect on a game than Durant and Wade is RIGHT behind him.

a few moves is a bit excessive too.
    I can think of two:

    1. Power the other player under the hoop and dunk
    2. Running righty hook

Everything else is too inconsistent or just downright ugly to be considered a post move that howard has in his “arsenal” imo

“I mean aside from a low post game, what does he really lack?”

    – He’s an inconsistent three-point shooter and can settle for the three too much at times.

    – He’s an inconsistent free-throw shooter, especially in the clutch.

    – He doesn’t have an in between game. He’s either a three-pointer or drive to the basket.

    – He lacks a post game. Just because Cleveland played him at power forward doesn’t mean he has a post game. He was always still handling the ball in a spread offense with shooters around him.

    – He’s ball dominant. I’ve heard all of the excuses, but he hasn’t shown that he can play/move without the ball in seven seasons.

    ^^^Heard that excuse too^^^

Truth is, if he had a more complete offensive game, he’d have helped his team out even more because it would’ve made it harder to defend him. That give it to LeBron at the top of the key and isolate made the offensive stagnate and predictable. It also turned everybody into jumpshooters…

Mr Knick you read into more than what I said. Also if you don’t recognize Durant as being a great player, I don’t know what you think a great player is. Also teams win playoff game and not one guy. OKC lost to the eventually champions Lakers and that team also won 50 led by Durant and would have probably gotten to the finals if they played in the East.

Never said he wasn’t a good player. He’s not a top 5 player in the NBA today. He hasn’t proved it when it matters most. You know how many 50 wins teams in the history of the NBA? Let me see some big playoff wins next season, lets see some more game winning baskets. Let’s see some of Durant’s low post game. Right now, he’s a top 10 player but right now? I feel 100% sure saying Kevin Durant is NOT ready to lead a team to a Championship.

When Durant was putting up monster numbers and Seattle/Oklahoma were only winning 20 odd games then you did wonder if his performances could bring results but last year the team made the play offs and Durant won the scoring title. I don’t put him in the same bracket as Kobe, LeBron and maybe D-Wade and Melo as an SG/SF who has won titles and proven their worth over a number of years but he will reach the level of the last two at least very soon.

Chicago are stronger than last year having added a post presence in Boozer, if Deng can stay sound and with Noah and Rose continuing to improve then they can be a 50 win team and maybe push Atlanta for 4th seeding out East behind whatever order Miami, Orlando and Boston finish. The new coach will make them more defensively sound which is vital for the play offs and I’d have them down as likely Eastern Conference Semi Finalists. Anything beyond this is possible but would need a great team effort from everyone with a bit of luck mixed in.
The team is still young and as Boston have to rebuild can pass them and challenge Miami and Orlando. But winning the Eastern Conference let alone an NBA title may be a bit beyond them yet and if the Knicks do get their FA targets in due course it will become harder. I could see Chicago reaching Conference Finals in the next few years and possibly sneaking a Final appearance in due course.

LeBron is a physical freak who can play like an SG let alone an SF but has the build of a PF. As he reaches his 30’s he may move over to PF if he loses a little speed and will use his experience and size to become the best PF in the NBA. He has always used his size to make his shots but mixing it inside with the very top big men will be something he has to work on.

Stephen Curry has the potential to become an All Star level player and under Coach Nelson he’ll certainly learn offence but Nellie-ball systems have never been built on defence and to be a top backcourt player then you need the all round game. A lot could depend on who takes over from Coach Nelson at GSW in due course to how well Curry will progress.

Tracy McGrady at his peak was a scoring machine but even in tandem with Yao they never made any significant play off progression. T-Mac was a great creative perimeter player and a the top of his game might have been the most creative in that role at the time.

Behind Kobe and LeBron there are a whole range of players such as D-Wade, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, Melo, CP3, Kevin Durant and Deron Williams who along with Dwight Howard could stake a claim to be in the top 5 players in the NBA at present. Defensively Dwight is the best and if you were looking for a player to build a team around then maybe after LeBron and possibly Kobe then he would be the man. I would put Dwight in the top 5 players in the NBA at present and in with a shot of being MVP in the next few years.

He has never quite increased his scoring to the level of Tim Duncan or a peak KG let alone a peak Shaq but he is still a huge inside presence and can use his game to great effect to draw a double team to help free up Orlando’s plethora of 3 point shooters on the perimeter.

I think u guys are underating D howard a bit without him on the magic they would be an awful team filled with jumpshooters, his defensive presence is undeniable but when he is matched up against average bigs he puts up big numbers I think he just needs more confidence in his offensive game

KD is not a top 5 player YET and just to remind ppl Lebron at the same age averaged more points 31ppg to 30ppg and performed much better in the playoffs that season averaged 30 8 5 compared to Durant’s 25 7 2, Lebron actually stepped up but KD has potential to become a top 2 player down the line

Do people realize how overrated Durant is

Are you serious? The guy is 21 and leading the league in scoring! Youngest ever to do that, did you forget? He helped his team push the Lakers to 6 games last year in the playoffs when everybody thought they were gonna get smashed. Yes he struggled against Artest, but HE IS 21! Not to mention he is carrying team USA.

    – Chicago is under the radar this season ,as far as being competiors and they could do some playoff damage…While I believe Orlando will regress even though Howard will carry them like he has been.

I agree. This is year 3 for Rose, and the Bulls finally have a decent low post presence. People are really overlooking them as contenders, but being a young team, nobody is going to anoint you as anything, you have to go out and earn it. Orlando I think will not be as good as last year. VInce Carter is showing that he is done, Rashard Lewis does not step up in big playoff games, and they will miss the defence of Matt Barnes. They need to make a trade.

    – LeBron is a more complete offensive player than we will even know because he can’t be forced to do something he doesn’t want to due to his physical abilities.

I didn’t really understand this sentence, but I think you meant we will never truly get to see how good Lebron is because he doesn’t want to be the man and push himself to use all of his physical tools. That is true, he was giving the talent of a Jordan, but the mind set of a point guard. Not his fault.

    – Stephen Curry will never become more than just a good NBA player, de to the fact that Don Nelson is his coach and he will not learn at the most pivotal point in his career

Sigh. Young man, can you name one NBA player that had one coach his entire career? Don Nelson will not coach Curry forever. He is smart NBA player, and he will be really good.

    – Tracy McGrady was the most creative perimiter offensve player hands down. Talk about unstoppable.

In his prime, he was more skilled than Kobe. He was one of the most entertaining players ever in his times in Orlando.

    – Dwight Howard is the 3rd best player in the NBA…He has a superior effect on a game than Durant and Wade is RIGHT behind him.

    1. Kobe 2. Lebron 3. Wade 4. Durant 5. Dwight

“Can we remember Kobe AND MJ had playoff/big game experience at age 21…Durant has none.”

I’m not sure what you mean here… How can Durant have NO playoff/big game experience? Does being .4 seconds away from pushing the champs to a game 7 not count as playoff experience?

It’s also funny that everyone seems to be debating if Durant is a top 5 player or if he is a top 6 player.

Congrats, he has 6 games under the belt in the playoffs. That doesn’t mean he have big game experience. It doesn’t count to me because it was the 1st round. Let’s not also forget he didn’t dominate any of those games (not the ones I remember) other then game 2 (32 and 8) and game 3 ( 29 and 19)

If your going to compare him to Jordan and Kobe, get it right. Both had big game experience by age 21. Jordan had 3 seasons of college, hitting game winning jumpers as a freshman. Kobe had the terrible experience in Utah but still, he took the big shot even though he missed.

It’s a double edged sword. I say let him get the big game experience he doesn’t have before he’s a top 5 guy. Then you guys would say “He’s only 21!”. The fact still remains, he didn’t have a “big game” yet.

I’m not comparing him to Jordan or Kobe… I’m just saying that he does have playoff experience.

You’re saying that he has no playoff experience because you don’t count the first round?

I was unaware that the first round was actually a play-in to get to the playoffs.

This is what confuses me: If you take my previous quote, why would you think I’m talking about you? I know you didn’t compare him to MJ or Kobe.

It’s the first round. That’s 6 games he played. Let him get some more games in is all I’m saying.

Top 5 or 6, the fact is Durant is a BEAST… He killed at Texas and he is killing in the NBA, when you consider who are the top players in the league you have to ask yourself who would you rather have in a 7 game series… Kobe, Wade, James, Durant, and Paul are the top 5 players who I would want in a 7 game series… I think Durant showed he is a “gamer” when he stepped up and guarded Kobe at the end of the Lakers v Thunder series last year (and he showed potential as a defensive player using his length to make things tough for Kobe)…. Durant struggled with his scoring against the Lakers, but he did carry his team against a powerful Lakers team (sometimes you have to throw stats out of the window)… I think Durant showed aganist the Lakers that he is a big game player, but he needs to pay his dues… Jordan was a top 5 player before he started winning championships, but he had to pay his dues…
