knicksnets123ParticipantReally, no Kemba Walker anyone? I mean he is just averaging 25 ppg while playing for the 5th ranked team in the country in the toughest conference………

I’m a firm believer that to be a 1st team All-American you need to play for a ranked team.
Jimmer Fredette barely beat out Nolan Smith and Marcus Morris barely beat out Terrance Jones, I felt the rest were pretty much un-disputed

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI think the first team All-American team is almost locked in with Jimmer Fredette, Kemba Walker, Jared Sullinger, Derrick Williams, and Marcus Morris.

LAKE SHOWI think its not a lock with D.Williams because of Lenoard out in San Diego St. Around the same stats except San Diego st is ranked much higher. and theres no way Nolan Smith doesnt make it
Nolan Smith
Kemba Walker
Jimmer
Jared Sullinger
Marcus Morris

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe Pac 10 carries more weight than the Mountain West whether the league is better/deeper or not.

LAKE SHOWActually it doesn’t this year. Pac-10 has Dropped this year as far as players and stregth according to rankings by NBA scouts. they arent as high on Pac-10 players right now. Fans maybe because they think pac-10 equals power conference because of there name but thats not the case this or last year.

llperezi would pick washingotn over either byu or sdsu in a game.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 8:18am #479378
DanEboyParticipantBYU has a SOS of 12 and is 5-1 against top 50 RPI teams
SDSU has a SOS of 28 and is 3-1 against top 50 RPI teams
While….
Washington has a SOS of 35 and is 2-3 against top 50 RPI
Arizona has a SOS of 45 and is 0-3 against top 50 RPI
You can throw the conferences out the window…..they are simply better teams.

Among those who vote for the All-American team? I think a great player like Williams in the Pac 10 will still be received higher than a great player like Leonard in the Mountain West.

llperezthats numbers though. Watching them play, i would pick washingotn to beat both those teams. I’ve already seen my bruins beat byu. SD still hasnt beat one team currently ranked or even close to being currently ranked. Washington has 3 losses that were almost all litteraly on the last possesion of the game to kentucky, texas am and michigan state. SDsu and byu havent even played teams that good. SD states offense is sub par to put it nicely.

llperezedit, sd did beat saint marrys who are good.

LAKE SHOWYou would think so but like i said scouts don’t agree. I think Williams is better than Leanord personally just like i think The Pac-10 is better than the Moutain west top to bottom

Uhh…UNLV was ranked at one point and are constantly being snubbed out of the top 25…

You really think Arizona St. can beat SDSU or BYU?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 9:33am #479445
llperezunlv is an average team. ANd who said arizona state would beat byu or sdsu?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 10:44am #479477
LAKE SHOWI think he means Arizona and no i don’t think they can beat them. Don’t take my view of the pac-10 higher then some too seriously because i have bias towards the conference, which is why i don’t pump them up too often

llperezi was just curious to compare the pac to mountain west so i was looking up their shcedules. The mountain west conference as a whole played only 4 games in non conference against teams currently ranked top 25 by the AP winning only 1 of those (UNLV over Wisconsin). The pac 10 has played 15 games against said competition, although the pac has gotten beat in those games as well. But if you want to be a big 6 conference you have to play a tough schedule and that will become evident again in the tournament just like last year when washington beat top 10 ranked new mexico by 20. You can only run from comp for so long. ucla already showed byu wouldnt run through the pac 10 like they probably will the mountain west.

LAKE SHOWI haven’t looked at MWC strength os scedule but they showed the Pac-10’s on cbs this past weekend and it was pretty bad. I think other ten two or three teams the resy of the conference was in the 115-200plus range

LAKE SHOWOk i just looked it goes
Big East
Big Ten
Big 12
Mountain West
ACC
SEC
Pac-10

llperezim not saying the pac 10 is real good, but if they did a heads up challenge of pac 10 vs mountain west, i would put my money on the pac 10 without hesitation. I mean look at the schedules i pointed out, the mountain west as a whole conference has played a total of 4 games against top 25 teams with only 1 win. The pac 10 has played 15 games against top 25 with only 2 wins. But they have a ton of close losses (all 3 of washingotns, ucla vs KU, USC vs KU just off the top of my head). Mountain west just flat out hasnt played a very tough schedule and far weaker schedule then the pac 10 has. That fact makes me question the rpi.
Remember last year when everyone said the mountain west and atlantic 10 were both better then the pac and those conferences both got more schools in the tournament, well the 7 combined schools from those 2 conferences were not able to win more games then the 2 schools that represented the pac 10 did in the tournament and we saw when the top school from both conferences faced off when washington blew new mexico out.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 1:33pm #479568
LAKE SHOWThat means that the Pac-10 was better at the top but not overall
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 1:36pm #479572
llperezwell we dont know how the other teams would have faired. B ut my point was that new mexico was a top 10 team and everyone was on their jock and the mountain west was so strong but its hard to tell when they play a weaker schedule just like this year. Right now, San DIego States biggest win is Saint Marrys. If washington played that schedule, i think they might be a 1 loss team as well.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/27/2011 - 2:33pm #479604
LAKE SHOWThats why i look at the Stregnth of schdeule thing i put up. It takes in account who they have played, if they won, and the teams they have played record. They dont just go by one team they go by all the teams in the conference and who they have played
