I just wanted to finally thank nbadraft.net for FINALLY dropping Trey Thompkins from a top 10 pick…i have watched his last 3 games and he is terrible. top 10 NO, top 20 NO, late first rounder…maybe.

why are people so high on him? He is slow and lacks aggressiveness.

I just had to put it out there!

He reminds me of Brian Cook. I think he’s a 1st round prospect but not in the lottery.

Showing his defense tonight. I think he is a 11ppg 6 rpg guy as a rookie.

Thompkins has a WAY better low post game than Brian Cook. And he’s a better passer and rebounder (even though he’s not a GREAT rebounder) too. He can’t shoot quite like Cook can either.

Has anyone noticed that Thompkins trimmed down a lot? He is not the same fat kid that once was at Oak Hill.

He’s a nice player. I think his lack of elite explosion/athletic ability will harm him, but he’s skilled, more so than most collegiate big men. He also seems pretty long from watching him, which helps make up for the fact he’s a little undersized and a little pudgy. His rebounding/defense is not going to be great in the NBA, but Speights is a pretty similar player in what he can do, and I think Thompkins has better smarts/IQ, and should be a good rotation player in the NBA. The more he improves his body the better his prospects will be.
