Lotto StudParticipantI am watching some of the Nova game against Louisville and I would like to know if he can pass for an Ekpe Udoh comparison because he shows some similarities IMO.
If not Udoh who is a legitimate comparison?

JNixonParticipantHe’s not nearly as skilled offensively as Udoh is.
Yarou will be a guy who provides post D, scrap baskets at the rim, rebounding, and the occasional mid-range shot. He won’t ever be more than a 5th option big body who does the dirty work for a team. He’s not a talent offensively. He honestly reminds me of D.J. Mbenga.

DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantnot nearly as skilled? you are ridiculous….he’s got alot more moves than Udoh does.

IndianaBasketballParticipant"He honestly reminds me of D.J. Mbenga."
Damn lol… He must be bad.

JNixonParticipant"not nearly as skilled? you are ridiculous….he’s got alot more moves than Udoh does."
Not only does have less effective moves down low or in the high post, he’s not as good a shooter, passer or ball-handler as Ekpe Udoh.

DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantYarou is automatic from 15 and in….the jumper is wet
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/12/2011 - 4:38pm #474520
JNixonParticipantLol alright man, if you want to think Yarou is as skilled as Udoh, that’s on you sir.

jas225ParticipantHard to imagine these comments coming from a villanova fan………..
Yarou reminds me of Dale Davis offensively, but not defensively.

Da1potParticipantHe has a lot of potential IMO offensively though, because he has nice touch on his shot and he has developing post moves and excellent footwork to go with his big body and above average athleticism. He will be a first round pick in 1-2 years and will at the very least get drafted because he is already a pretty decent defensive player with a good work ethic. He might not pan out, but he is someone I happen to be very high on.

JNixonParticipantIf Yarou becomes anything past a 5th option scorer whenever he’s on the floor for an NBA team, I will personally never watch or talk about basketball ever again for the rest of my life. Sound like a bet to anyone?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/12/2011 - 5:50pm #474574
HaleParticipantYou don’t get anything out of that bet.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/12/2011 - 5:58pm #474578
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantRemember Yarou has only been playing basketball for 5 years. and he’s already shown alot of ability.

JNixonParticipantI dont want anything, I was just emphasizing that Yarou isn’t very skilled at all.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/12/2011 - 6:19pm #474591
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipant^^^ hater…………..is what you are
I will throw together a highlight video just so you can take that back

xavier328ParticipantThe Ekpe Udoh comparison is unfair Udoh is a very skilled player….and Yarou reminds me of Serge Ibaka…is also see alot of Carl Landry in him but thats just me!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/12/2011 - 7:06pm #474608
Da1potParticipantBelieve me, I’ll do the same thing if Udoh becomes more than a fifth option scorer, too.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/12/2011 - 7:20pm #474609
JNixonParticipantAnd what does that tell you if Yarou isn’t as skilled as Udoh is?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/12/2011 - 9:35pm #474665
RUDEBOY_ParticipantIt seems like he’s often ignored on offense..Plus he’s only playing 23 minutes a game..If he’s given more minutes his numbers might be higher…
He reminds me of former Seton Hall player Mark Bryant..Bryant played a long time in the nba..He never was a star player but teams loved his toughness…Bryant was a little taller then Yarou…

mamadouParticipant@J-nixon.
Why Udoh, what Udoh…
An african must be compared to another african, so it’s Udoh, ibaka or m’benga(belgian from congo) ?
Blake griffin was an athletic bonner or scal because he’s a redhead ?
So a project, a 6’9 PF (in the nba) reminds you a 7 footers 3rd string C ?…that’s a concept.
U were amazed by Udoh when he was 20-21 YO, sophomore at 6pts 5 boards, 43% FG in 26 minutes a game ?
Udoh’s a beast, the next big thing, a shorter sheed ? or a solid, decent rookie(high selection for a good role player, team player), very old rookie too…24YO in may.
He honestly…or not, reminds me of yinka dare.

JNixonParticipant"Remember Yarou has only been playing basketball for 5 years. and he’s already shown alot of ability."
You know how much that’s been said? Jerome Jordan, Hasheem Thabeet, Saer Sene etc etc. Yarou hasn’t shown alot of ability either. He’s shown that he’s a role player who scores the easier things are made for him. And still, he’s an 8 ppg scorer who shoots 49% fromthe floor despite being mainly a low post guy. I don’t see a bunch of potential, post moves, or an automatic jump shot from 15 feet. He’s shooting 64% from the free throw line….yeah he’s definitely automatic.
And how is he more skilled than Udoh? He’s not as good at any offensive skill than Udoh is. Baylor ran some of their offense through Udoh in the high post, and that was with Tweety Carter, a VERY solid PG running their offense. Villanova would NEVER run any offense through Yarou, even if Wayns and Fisher aren’t there. Yarou is a 5th option right now as we speak, a guy who gets scrap baskets at the rim, rebounds, provides post D, and the occasional mid-range shot. So why would his role be any different in the NBA with more talented guys that what Villanova has on their team? His top upside is doing exactly what he does right now, except getting better on D. His offense doesn’t have a bunch of upside an any way.

DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantYou have rarely seen Yarou, i’ve watched every single game of his in a Nova uniform…he’s technically a freshman since he missed most of last year because of Hepatitis B. I can’t wait until he proves you wrong, so you stop talking about basketball
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/13/2011 - 6:13am #474709
JNixonParticipantLol I’ve seen him play more than enough to show that he won’t ever be more than a 5th option role player. Just because you’re a fan of Villanova doesn’t mean he’ll be more than that.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/13/2011 - 6:17am #474710
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantI got a video coming for you…….and we’ll see how unskilled he truly is
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/13/2011 - 11:16am #474853
DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantGreat footwork, can go left or right, block with either hand, has a few moves in the post, soft touch on the shot…..not bad for a guy that’s played basketball for only 5 years…..enjoy your remaining time as a basketball fan Iggy.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/13/2011 - 11:42am #474858
jas225ParticipantHe is definitely good at blocking 6 foot guards, were there enough of them on that highlight reel?!
I like the landry comparison. He has some footwork skills, but he still seems just to be bullying balls into the basket.
He will get better, but hard to say how much.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/13/2011 - 12:25pm #474868
JNixonParticipantHe’s not as good as Carl Landry is, not even close. He’s more like Kevin Seraphin or D.J. Mbenga, I’m telling you lol. Carl Landry was a 2nd option for the Kings a good bit last year. Landry also is a mediocree rebounder and defender. Yarou will never be that good on offense, and he’ll make whatever money he may get by rebounding and playing defense. There is no comparison.

I was gonna comment but I saw this and LOL’d
