Most Over and Under Rated

Hey I was wanting to get a feel to hear who people think are the most over and under rated players in the draft
here are mine

Over Rated
-Hasheem Thabeet(great shot blocker, but no offense, still needs to get stronger)
-Tyreke Evans( not a good shooter, kinda eratic with the ball, can dominate the ball, goes 1-1 too much)
-Dejuan Blair(small, is big and strong, but not very explosive, fast, nor athletic, no jump shot gonna need that with the lack of hight)
-Jrue Holliday( has a lot of talent, and highly athletic, but wasn't very good at ucla, needs another year to develope pg skills, tweener, not strong shooter)

Under Rated
-DeMar Derozen( yes was up and down at usc, but floyd is a crappy coach and team wasn't great, turned it on late to win pac-10 tourney, has just as much talent as anybody in the draft, could be in the mold of kobe, with his athletisim, and great skills, needs to develope 3 ball)
-Dejaun Summers( has an nba ready body, great talent and very athletic, he's sorta a head case, but has the game of a caron butler, and could develope into a great 2nd or 3rd option on a team.)
-Jeff Teague(great scorer, has the speed, athlestism, and explosiveness to make up for being smaller, can stroke it, has great ball handling skills, just really needs to learn the game more to be a better pg.)
-Chase Budinger( does a lot of this on both ends of the court, could be an all-star, but could be a great 3rd option for a team, can play both sg and sf, can jump out of the sky, hard worker, good teammate.)

those are my thoughts, what are yours?

I like your underated guys for the most part

Not a big Derozan guy I would prefer to have Evans but we will agree to disagree on that one, but other than that your overated guys are on point to except to me Derozan and Evans would switch spots if I had to choose between them but I admit I'm somewhat biased towards Evans because he played in Memphis and I saw everygame the sameway somebody who lives on the westcoast probably saw a lot of Derozan's games and may have a better fill for him than me. The games I saw he sometimes didn't show up don't get me wrong he played in a better conference, but I saw Evans give some teams the blues with his drives to the basket. But being realistic both of these cats have some holes in there games and if you could put there games together you might have the perfect prospect so beauty is in the eye of the beholder.good post

disagree

on blair. he is 6'7 but has a 7'2 wingspan. He is going to be a great pf on a team that has a strong defensive center. he can easily average 15 and 10 right away. he is a great post player, and he needs to develop a jump shot but that will come with practice. He absolutly dominated every big man in college he faced incuding thabeet. He knows how to go up against shotblockers because in the big east at least every team has a shot blocker. He is simply a warrior if we didnt play in such a fast break system i would want him on the knicks at 8.

Blair is alright just don't know if it will translate

It's hard for me to figuer out if that will translate to the league but people said that about Big Baby and it's been working out OK.It's just when you have undersized PF usually they are very athletic so it will be intruiging to see if he will be as dominant or will the NBA 4 men be too big and athletic for him. On the right team I agree he could be a fringe starter or a 6 man that would get a lot of minutes.Chicago would be a good fit for him maybe they need all the bigs they can get as long as they give him a fair shot don't let him eat himself out the league like Micheal Sweetney did.Because that is the player that comes to mind just because they are both undersized guys that are big boned.

yes true,I'm not saying

yes true,I'm not saying blair can't play in the nba, and he could be good, but i think it depends on the team around him, but i think he could be a great 6th man, not saying he can't play jsut that I don't the he is lottery pick material, and i think there are players that are better than him.

over/under

Off the top of my head:

Over: Thabeet-we all know he is tall and can block shots, but is that what you want to spend the number 2 or 3 pick on?
Mullens-yes he is an athletic 7 footer. But he got out muscled in college and showed nothing impressive at either end of the floor.
Ellington-he can shoot, but if that is it, then would you want to use a lottery pick on him?
Curry- Just don't see it. Spot shooters with little else don't usually go top 10.

I don't know about underrated, but being a left coast guy, I think DeRozan is gonna be a stud and should be the first Pac-10 player taken. I would'nt compare him to Kobe, but he can be a difference maker. Also, unlike a lot of great former athletes who did'nt make it, DeRozan is very physical around the basket both rebounding and finishing.

Unbelievably...I agree with

Unbelievably...I agree with each of your choices, except maybe Evans. He's projected 7-12, and for this draft, that isnt really saying much.

My take on Evans is, if he is going to play PG, he could be an all star ala Larry Hughes w/ the wizards. But even that was 1 yr out of a 10 yr career for him. I think Hughes is the best case scenario for him. Evans has no real future at SG b/c of a slow shot and not being a structure player

summers goes to overrated to

summers goes to overrated to me...well actualyl i cant even say that cuz hes not rated that high..he just didnt produce..reguardless of how tall or talented he seems to be if you dont produce it doesnt matter you just become a player with potential...like terrence morris..also dont think jeff is underrrated..he played great in the first half of the season but as the season wore down he got worst..with derozen or any one i cant really blame the coach because he was just missing shots and not being aggressive early in the season...when he started to be more aggressive he played better...im not that high on him because he pretty much looks like a possible gerld green clone..chase...we all have been waiting for him to dominate since day one and ive come to the conclusion its just not gonna happen he will be a ok nba player..watching him though he seems to not like contact which says alot about his heart...jru holiday i just havne tseen this greatness that alot of people talk about with this guy..i would say blair is overrated but with those undersized houston guys playing pretty well in the nba i just cant..for the most part if a player finds something to be good at..shooting,rebounding,blocking,shots then they can have a nice long career...at the same time im not sure blair would be drafted as high in other drafts like he will be in this one..if we are using that as a critera of being overand underrated then i can understand....i actually like evans because he can play the point ..not sure if thats gonna be his main position though because he may end up like larry huges and think shoot first

easy

overrated - bj mullens. not tough. didn't dominate against a small big ten conference (meaning small frontcourts). the next robert swift, mohammed sene, johan petro and every other center the seattle sonics drafted in the last few years.

underrated - sam young. dude came to pittsburgh as a 6-6 power forward and worked on his ball handling and jumper to the point where i see him as the next josh howard. late 1st round pick with a lot of skills.

i agree juves..and now

i agree juves..and now because some of these writers like what they see in his(bj mullens) workouts( where hes being guarded by either casper or a 6feet trainer) he starts to shoot up the draft board and the fact of what he did in highschool..ala jru holiday

Overrated: BJ Mullens- Come

Overrated:
BJ Mullens- Come on. The guy couldn't do jack in college, is he really going to be able to go up against Dwight Howard and Shaq?
Blake Griffin- Will be a offensive liability in the NBA.
Hasheem Thabeet: I'm a little mixed on this one, will Thabeet be more Mark Eaton/Hakeem Olajuwon...or Shawn Bradley? Still think he's overrated.
Brandon Jennings- All hype.

Underrated:
Dejuan Blair- The dude is a MONSTER. Wingspan above 7 feet? Check. Strong as an ox? Check. Proven experience? Check.
Patty Mills- The guy tore up the Olympics and looks very impressive.
Ty Lawson/Tyler Hansbrough- Lawson is MAD quick and Hansbrough will find his niche in the NBA due to his athletic ability and hustle.
Jon Brockman-Same deal as Blair. Yeah he's 6-7 but a heckuva rebounder.

As you can see, I am not a believer in the talent of this draft. Blake Griffin=Michael Olowokandi??

Look, I acknowledge that

Look, I acknowledge that Griffin is a good player..I just think in the NBA he won't be "#1 pick material" and thus is overrated. Just remember that EVERY year a few guys in the lottery are busts, and this draft, aside from point guards, isn't incredibly strong...so there will be busts, even possibly from the top.

Look Josh Huestis, I just gave my opinion on who I thought is overrated/underrated coming into the draft. "lol..im sure this is gonna be a field day topic." If your are so smart, who do you think is overrated/underrated?

ty

Flynn underrated!?!?! yeah right he's OVER RATED!!!! He's rated over ty lawson in almost every mock draft site, for what reason??? he is the same height as Ty(If not shorter), but less strength. and his skills are well below ty's in defense, speed, and decision making... how could people be so low on Ty because of his size, but johnny flynn is smaller!?!?!?! can someone answer that for me PLEASE!!!!!

How is Demarr Derozan

How is Demarr Derozan underrated? Every mock draft has him as a top 10 pick.

Call me crazy...

I think Austin Daye might be underrated, but only slightly. A lot of people see him as a bust in the making, but I see him becoming a VERY valuable and versatile 5th starter/6th man in two years. He needs to go back to school though for one more year.

ok the master shall now

ok the master shall now speak...lol...i cant really name too many overrated because other then the top 3-5 players no one is expected to come in and be stars ..pso i guess id have to name the top 5 as over or underrated..i think blake is neither..rubio is overrated but overrated by the fans not the people in the know..tabeet maybe overrated or under im not really sure yet because pretty much all the gms say hes just gonne bring defense and rebounds and not much in the block department...i could say bj is overrated but he is gettign drafted on potential not off what hes gonna do now...so since this draft isnt expected to produce stars its hard to say...oh wait jru is overrated to me because he has shown zero star potential..just average to good potential
