CavFanPRParticipantDrummond has more potential but Monroe is the better player right now and there’s no guarantee that Drummond will reach that potential.

bloodshyParticipantMonroe isn’t really a high potential type player. That is not to say he’s not good or that he won’t be an elite level player. It’s just that he has very good (not elite) physical tools and his success is largely skill-related.
On the other hand Drummond oozes potential. He has the potential to be as good as anyone we’ve ever seen in the post. His physical tools are the type you see only once in a decade or so. However, he lacks polish. Most players w/elite potential never reach it because they never develop the tight skill set required to get there as they rely on their superior physical gifts.
I’m not sure which player will be better at their peak, but I would bet on Drummond due to his insane upside. However, the battle for “more potential” is an easy win for Drummond.

ItsRainingNegsParticipantI know this isn’t a joke so if someone chooses other than Andre Drummond they should be banned. He’s one of the truly great athletes in the game, and the more he develops his game he could become unstoppable. Cousins had more hype than him after his first year but I guarantee very few GM’s, if any, would take Cousins over Drummond and that’s even if you take his on court problems and erase them. He slipped because scouts were worried he wouldn’t develop any offensive game though he had the raw talent. He could become the next Deandre Jordan no doubt, but the upside with this kid is higher than any prospect in the game.

RMolloy24ParticipantWhich Pistons big man has more potential?

kazamParticipantDrummond. But I’m skeptical of whether or not he will reach it playing in the same frontcourt as Monroe and now j-smoove

GottaBeTheShoesParticipantDrummond has more potential obviously, he has scary good attributes. But I’d rather have Greg Monroe as a player, Monroe is already a great player and still has plenty of room to grow, he’s also a great passer for his position, I think Monroe helps a team a ton with his game.

B-ball fanParticipantDrummond probably has more upside, especially on the defensive end, but I would consider Monroe a very high potential player as well. Monroe has tremendous coordination and footwork for a big men, as well as good strength. With Monroe’s ball handling, post play, and passing ability, he could become an elite big man if improves his shooting touch.
16, 9.6, and 3.5 for a 3rd year player is not too shabby. Drummond has more overall upside due to his defensive potential, but I don’t expect him to become a better offensive player than Monroe.

RMolloy24ParticipantI think you guys are underrating Monroe. He definitely is a potential player!

Lotto StudParticipantDrummond has the most upside. Call me crazy but I believe that if Monroe wants it really bad, he can be another version of Tim Duncan.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThink about them as Gasol and Bynum.
Monroe is going to be very solid. Very skilled and a good passer for a big man. He’ll see his fair share of all-star appearances and can be the perfect 2nd option to a superstar.
Andre Drummond on the other hand isn’t as good as Monroe but has all of the physical and athletic tools to be a consistent all-star. All he needs to do is put in the work and show how good he actually is. Drummond has a chance to be one of the better centers in the league with the tools he currently has.

rjb241Participanti think drummond has more potential but he’s got a long ways to go. He’s an exceptional athlete for his size. As for now i consider Monroe the better player who also has alot of potential but not like that of drummond. Drummond may never reach that potential though, many guys dont, so for that reason i consider Monroe to have a much higher floor than drummond. I dont think Drummond will ever be as skilled as Monroe, but if both players reach their potential Drummond will be an absolute beast and a game changer. Possibly one of the most powerful players since Shaq.
