The rumbles of trade rumors surrounding Dion Waiters have begun once again. I am personally very high on Waiters. Its very evident his shot selection, leadership, and overall IQ are growing month after month, as well as his number on the stat sheet.

My Question is this, if Dion was traded who do you see complimenting Kyrie better than Dion to complete a trade? If it was someone from the draft, which player would it be?

Although I would hate for Waiters to be on the move, I will throw 1 name out there that would complement Irving only because he’s been rumored to be on the move. Klay Thompson would be ideal in the backcourt moving forward.

As a Cavs fan I would love to have Klay. Besides Waiters, who else do you think the Cavs would trade to make that possible?

I’m not going to keep fishing. You should throw out a few options as well.

Trade waiters to Sacramento (8th) or Philly (10th) for their pick.

The best back court mate for kyrie is Andrew Wiggins and they can get him with the 1st pick and play him at SG and with either the 8th or 10th pick they can draft a guy like Stauskus or Harris to be the 6th man. Leave the SF spot open for Lebron (I think he stays in Miami one more year then signs with Cleveland next season)

    2014/15 lineup: Irving,Stauskus/Harris,Wiggins,Thompson,Varajeo. Anthony Bennett 6th man

2015/16 lineup: Irving,Wiggins,Lebron,Thompson,Varajeo. Bennett and Harris/Stauskus off the bench

Problem with Waiters is, who would be willing to offer a substantial offer for him? I feel like Chicago is a good destination, considering he is able to create his own shot which is something the Bulls are dearly missing. Another destination would be OKC, where he would be a lesser version of what Harden would have been now.

With the expected signing of Blatt as the head coach, it would be silly for the Cavs to trade Waiters now. Blatt’s offense is based off the Princeton offense, which is a system that requires 2 ball handling guards as neither one plays a true point position. Something both Waiters and Irving can benefit from. Waiters made huge strides last season with his shot etc. and without knowing if Kyrie signs an extension, you can’t trade him before/during the draft. It just doesn’t make sense.

Players they could probably get but some don’t fit: Randy Foye, Harrison Barnes (might be stretch), Reggie Bullock, Jared Dudley, Courtney Lee, Tony Allen, Khris Middleton, Chase Budinger, Tyreke Evans (makes too much money), Iman Shumpert, Perry Jones, Tony Wroten/Arnett Moultrie, Gerald Green

Guess my point is, the players will never jump off the page for you. Waiters is a good piece in a trade package but straight up won’t command much. I think Tony Allen is a real possibility with the new leadership in Memphis. You never know what they will try and do. Allen is cheap and one of the top defenders at the 2 guard spot.
