vulture711ParticipantSimilar to Evan Turner, it hasn’t helped either of them that they really are terrible shooters. They do other things well, but the inability to put the ball in the basket never helps

MkadozaParticipantBust or not, having Lebron drop 61 on you a month after Carmelo dropped 62 can’t be good for the confidence.

imAboutDatActionParticipantwere you watching the game?
when MKG guarded him, he made his shots tough. Lebron jus was hot, no kind of defense was going to stop him.
MKG sat out most , if not all, the 4th quarter. he played 26 total minutes. more than half of Lebrons points today were on different defenders.

Jr. ROXASParticipantMKG defended him pretty well. There were just some instnces where he should have went over the screen to challenge lebron’s shot since he was hot then. But all in all, the effort was there. Toliver was the total opposite though. Awful, awful defender.

Rip255Hes known as a defensive stopper, but clearly he’s not great defensively. He’s Corey Brewer 2.0
And Corey Brewer aint that great. For a #2 pick, I’m calling bust.

imAboutDatActionParticipantlol he is a great defensive player.
he’s part of the bobcats turnaround on the defensive end, thats a top 5 defensive team in the league this year & #6 in FG%.
its too early to call him a bust. he’s only 20.
but if he never fixes his broken jumper, than he might be headed down that road. he’s not that agressive on the offensive end and teams back off on him forcing him to shot making his drives even harder.
but his defense , motor, and athleticism will alow him to have a long career.

surveParticipantno. too early to say so. even still, I think in due time he is gonna be a good player. due to the fact that I dont think he will ever be a really good shooter I think his ceiling is Gerald Wallace. and then he would be worthy of that 2nd pick. it would be nice if his ceiling was Marion-like.

For_Never_EverParticipantI’m leaning towards bust until or if ever he can actually fix his broken jumpshot. He was suppose to be the safe pick in the draft. If he can’t bring anything more then being a defender then he is just a bench player coming off the bench that plays D nothing more.

ibe12ParticipantI think at best he’ll be Andre Igoudala. Good defender, athletic and an all around player with an on some days off some days shot. If he sticks to drives and defense he’ll have a long NBA career. That’s more than what I can say for a lot guys in his draft class.

JeffreyhardenParticipantEverybody always talking about Cleveland doing their draft’s over what if the Bobcats would have
Andre Drummond (2012 Pick 2)
Al Jefferson (Free Agent)
Giannas Greak Freak (2013 4th pick)
Klay Thompson (7th pick 2011)
Kemba Walker (9th pick 2011)

IhateusernamesParticipantHe was a terrible pick at #2. At #16 or so Id have no issue.
MKG took 4 shots last night!!! 4 damn shots. I want a franchise player (or potential) at #2, not a guy who can only get 4 shots off on a bad team. MKG will stick in the league, and have a solid career, but you NEVER take a "glue guy" at #2.
He’s a defense/energy guy. I’m skeptical on him being anymore than that.

imAboutDatActionParticipanti agree.
the funny part is, everybody was aware of this before the draft. scouts/GMs jus overrate intangibles.
i like how MKG plays the game, he plays hard and puts in the effort on the defensive end. he’s jus naturally not an offensive player and doesnt have the mentality. he took the 4th most shots in Kentucky when he was there, he’s jus not agressive. and its hard to be agressive with a broken jumper, which was evident in college.

King CaluchaParticipantHis intantibles were overrated to the extent that some scouts assumed his work ethic would make him develop a jumper by now. He’s not filling the shoes for a No. 2 pick.
It’s still a bit early because he’s still young, but it seems he’ll just be a role player.

HaleParticipantHe hasn’t played as well as some expected but it’s way too early to call him a bust. He’s one of the better defenders in the NBA so at the least he’ll still probably have a Tony Allen type career. He needs a lot of work on offense though, aggression has been an issue. He hasn’t taken 10+ shots in a game in over a month and has taken 8 total shots over his past 3 games. It also doesn’t help that he doesn’t really get starter minutes but if he’s going to grow as a player he really needs to get his jump shot to at least a decent level.

r377ParticipantUsers on here change their mind like the wind. 90% of mocks on here had him or T-Rob @ 2 for the draft. Granted there were a few Barnes vs MKG threads on here
MKG has been dealing with injuries, he broke / fractured his hand. No one predicted he would be a 20ppg all-star but is a hard worker and plays with a high motor.
He may never play in an all-star game but I still think he will be a good player…..

jmarg25ParticipantA little too early to call him a bust, but I doubt he’ll ever be worth a #2 pick. I don’t see his jumpshot ever becoming decent. However, I think he’ll be in the league for a while because he works hard and plays damn good defense.

IhateusernamesParticipantCoach Cal said 5 years after MKG was drafted he would be the "face of somebody’s franchise". MJ was dumb enough to believe him.

JoeWolf1I don’t think he’ll be considered a bust. Even if he doesn’t produce a whole lot more than he has during his first two years, people give the #2 pick a lot more leeway.
Marvin Williams never gets brought up as a bust. It took Tyson Chandler about 5 years to take his game to the level it is today, and even when he was getting 8 and 8 for the Baby Bulls, no one was calling him a bust. I’m sure there are others, but those two come to mind right off the bat.
I think MKG will get better, but even if he isn’t a star and just settles in to a 13 and 8 defensive 3, then I don’t think he’ll be considered a bust…just not a great pick.
