T wolves already have Pek, what’s the point? I hope they draft McCollum, he’s a monster.

Maybe one day.. But I don’t see Len contributing right away at the NBA level and if Pek is allowed to take off someplace this summer I don’t think Len should be who they go to for an answer. If they must look in the draft for C’s to contribute right away IMO it would have to be either Withey (who is very underrated right now) or Dieng.. I personally like the McCollum idea if he’s still available at #9, a great spot up shooter and scorer with the ball in his hands (something they desperately lack). He would fit in really well next to Rubio…

Assuming Pek leaves, which I don’t think he will, and also assuming Len falls to 9, which I also don’t think will happen, I don’t think Love wants to wait around in Minnesota for Len to develop. Other than all that I think they could certainly play with each other. Len plays well off the ball and has a developing midrange game to space the floor for Love.

Yeah their biggest need right now is a guard who can spread the floor. Maybe they can look for that with their later pick, but McCollum seems like the likely choice.

I think KCP is the more likely choice. The Wolves have been playing with a small backcourt, with Ridnour and Barea playing significant minutes at the 2. It hasn’t been working well on the defensive end, and I think the Wolves are trying to get away from having two guys at 6’3 or less in the backcourt at the same time.

CJ is a superb shooter, but doesn’t solve the size issues on defense. KCP shoots almost as well, especially when you compare CJ’s freshman and sophomore years with KCP, and provides a taller defender.

If both players are on the board at 9, then I think the Wolves go with KCP. I think CJ is a better fit somewhere he can play both on and off the ball.

      Just my opinion.

I didn’t give you a thumbs down, but if I was to guess why others did is because you’re saying they have Pekovic so they shouldn’t bother looking at Len. However Pekovic is a free agent and may or may not be back, so therefore they should still look into centers just in case he leaves.

I’m hoping they draft a SG. That’s really their biggest need.

The Wolves need a talented player out of this draft period.

I know they need a shooting guard and McCollum could help with that but with the Wolves recent draft history and the fact that even most strong drafts only have a dozen or so impact players, I’m just hoping it’s a good piece/player that can be an effective NBA player regardless of position.

It would be better to have a talented back-up than a Jonny Flynn or Wes Johnson trying to be a starter at least that way a team has talent.

They will go with a SG, and it won’t ne McCollum. He is a great shooter and the Wolves need that, but they also really need size at the 2. That along with shooting are the main criteria. KCP is the more likely pick.

Kcp’s height would be ideal but it isn’t completely necessary with Rubio’s being 6′-3″ to 6′-4″. McCollum would be able to add play making as well as shooting/scoring.

I’d like Kcp also… but not with the 9th pick. In a perfect world we’d land both, but the Wolves have rarely been part of a perfect world.

Ricky struggles more when asked to play against the bigger 2’s, which is what ends up happening a lot when the wolves bring in Barea or Ridnour. Saunders has said, time and time again, that the wolves need to get bigger at the 2, which doesn’t sound like CJ to me.

As an example, here is a quote from the St. Paul, Mn paper today.

“Because we’re so small there,” Saunders said after watching a half-dozen draft prospects work out Thursday. “Outside of (6-6 Alexey) Shved, who can play the ‘2’, our other guys who play ‘2’ a lot, (J.J.) Barea and Luke (Ridnour), are 6-foot players and having to guard guys like (6-6) Kobe Bryant and those guys.

“What you want is a ‘2’ guard that has size and can shoot the ball.”

You may not like KCP at 9, but I get the really strong feeling that the Wolves do.

Who would you prefer that they draft at 9 if you don’t want KCP (and if McLemore, Oladipo, and McCollum are all off the board)? Just asking.

I really think he will be a good fit. As much as Rubio dominates the ball while looking for others to shoot is what makes this a great fit. Unless the Wolves move up I’m almost certain this is the pick.

If all of the players you mentioned are off the board I’d hope they’d select best player available regardless of position. Maybe Len or Zeller. The Wolves will have some money to spend in freeagency I just don’t think they should draft a SG just for the sake of it.

KCP would be great if the Wolves could trade up into the teens using their 2nd #1 and a future pick.

If the wolves used 9 for something other than a 2 guard, then the question gets to be “how far up do you have to trade to get KCP”? The 26 and those two late seconds isn’t going to get you high enough for KCP. I hate the idea of packaging a future first, in what could be a stronger draft than this one, in order to move up.

If the wolves want KCP, but don’t feel he warrants the 9th pick, then I would rather see them trade down with someone not far behind them and pick up something in the process, then take KCP there. I think that works better than trying to turn the 26 into a high enough pick to take him.

Before you know how much moving up is going to cost the Wolves you have to have figure all teams have different reasons for being willing to trade a pick such as Dallas or Atlanta trying to clear space to sign Dwight Howard… that alone affect 3 first rd picks and potentially lowers the value of picks 12 thru 17 based on Dallas 1 pick and Hawks 2 picks..
