Finally I am able to watch college basketball on a regular basis here in The Netherlands and I´m trying to make good use of it.

One thing I was wondering is why there is no talk about Miles Plumlee. There is a lot of hype about Duke´s guard (which are a tad overrated in my opinion) and of course about Mason Plumlee, but I think Miles is quite an athlete, is not afraid to get his hands dirty and just a decent basketballplayer, with a good NBA body.

    What do you guys think?

Bobby Hurley, Christian Laettner, Cherokee Parks, Mike Dunleavy, Josh McRoberts, Kyle Singler.  BEWARE the white Duke players.  It boggles my mind that GM’s continue to draft caucasian Duke players. No UNC bias here, just stating the FACTS.

Not another Josh McRoberts, i look at Mason the same way, he’s big and athletic and thats it. The NBA is full of big athletes. Low skill level smh, at this point a guy with his size and athleticism should be dominating the ACC (Mason). Miles is just an athletic hustle guy who doesnt really have a niche carved out for the league because he really isn’t above average at anything.

As for the thoughts on Duke players not making good pros Grant Hill would have been all-time great if it wasnt for the injury. And Kyrie seems like he is going jto be the leagues next great young PG.

I agree wholeheartedly with Grant Hill being an all-time great if he hadn’t gotten injured.  Feel bad for him becasue he was one of the NBA’s good guys and knew how to play the game the right way.  I don’t consider Kyrie a product of Duke since he played a total of 11 games in Durham.

I understand your criticism, but I see this guy being an end of the bench player in the NBA. Providing energy and hustle when needed. No star of course and maybe a fringe role player on a mediocre team.

Miles doesn’t seem to have a very high Bball IQ, he’s a monster physically, but he’s foul prone and doesn’t have much refinement on his offensive game.  In addition, for his size and athletic ability, he’s just an average rebounder.  I think he’ll get a shot in summer league, but I have my doubts as to whether he’ll play a single NBA game.

Its like he and Mason only know how to use there athleticism properly in dunk contest and summer play.

I talked about this the first week of season.

If there is a spot in the NBA for Josh Harrelson, then there is a spot for Miles Plumlee.

I was actually just reading on ESPN last week on  that top NCAA big men and they had Mason listed at like 8 and he’ll be better in the pro’s and Miles should eventually stick in the pros too because of their size and athleteticism and defense.

Watch more games. The Plumlees get less out of more athletic ability than any white players in college. They will only be good athletes at the next level and their lack of dribbling, a jump shot, post moves or passing ability will be a big problem. You would think they would have figured out a few of those things considering how much basketball they have played, but it doesn’t look like this will happen.

They are each much worse that McRoberts was in college and McRoberts became a very mediocre pro.

But I think Miles will be drafted as some GM is just going to refuse to believe that a 6′ 10" guy who really tries hard and is fast and can jump can’t eventually learn at least one post move that he can do against smaller or less athletic defenders. Miles will prove that GM wrong.

Thanks for the thorough explanation and I completely agree with you that I need to watch more games, that´s why I started the thread to get more info on the guy. Unfortunately in The Netherlands the amount of choice you have in the games that you can watch are limited (yes I know that I could see them on internet, but the way that I am settled now this is really inconvenient), so I have to go with what ESPN America gives me.

Is someone really interested in Miles Plumlee to start a thread about him?

Seriously though. I dont know if he has a future in the NBA. Maybe Europe or China.

But I can also see him making a roster as a undrafted free agent rookie, maybe a late second rounder if a team wants to develop him. Mobile big men are always valuable to NBA teams.

       @ Johnny Chill:

Haha, I know I am new to the college game and he is just someone who got my attention with all his hustle and energy.

Of course you don’t want to consider Kyrie a Product of Duke, because that ruins the narrative. Well, he’ll have his Duke degree before all of Calipari’s Big name UK recruits and before Ty Lawson and UNC SCRUB black bigs like Ed Davis and Brandon Wright…

So, yeah, Kyrie is a Dukie. deal.

now is for sure. he deserves a chance in the nba. he is so athletic and hustles with energy so hard that if some1 like popovich can get him after he goes undrafted, i feel like he has a chance to be a decent rotation player

He just had 22 rebounds today in 28 minutes.  That’s pretty impressive.  And Greg Popovich is somebody that would def get something out of him, as long as Miles Plumlee can throw a screen then roll hard and fast to the rim he would see the court in San Antonio.
