Mike Miller
i disagree, mike miller for 6 mill a year is not bad. He can play both wing positions and is a perfect fit for the trianlge. Shot 50% from the floor and 48% from 3 last season. I hope this happens. Very underarated player.
Mike Miller was perfect for the triangle once upon a time.... ever since he was traded to the Wolves he's afraid to shoot now, and if a shooter don't shoot he ain't worth %$&#. Seriously, look at his numbers. He's a bad contract looking to be signed.
I don't understand this deal on some many levels...where do the Lakers win? That's a whole lot of money and years to sign on a mediocre talent.
I thought they would go for someone younger as well too. MAYBE he gets inspired while in LA and lives up to his reputation as a great shooter, if not then to the TRADE LINES he goes!!
whats with the all the hate on his shooting. 48% fiorm 3 and hitting more then 1 a game is bad? Hes gonna get great looks with the lakers. He also got 11ppg 6reb and 4apg How did his shooting go away?
The question isn't if he can shoot the ball, it's if he will shoot the ball. The percentages are good... it's the attempts that are the problem. 10.9 pts. per game in a contract year isn't great and there has been a lot of garbage time the past couple years (9.9 pts.per game withe Wolves} playing for the Wolves and Wizards.
Yeah Miller has underachieved the past 2 years. He plays timid now-a-days, even though he is scoring efficiently. Maybe he plays at a higher confidence level again with the Lakers though. I wouldn't doubt that he can play very well in limited minutes. Miller is a very talented player.
hes not gonna need to create his own shot like minnesota and washington needed him to do if he comes ot the lakers. All he has to do is spread the court and there is no reason to believe he cant do that coming off the bench behind kobe and ron. I dont think 6 mill per is overpaying, thats sorta what i expected him to get on the market.
Is it talent if he doesn't use it? Personally I like Mike Miller.... he grew up in SoDak near where my wife was raised.
As a player he's just hesitant to shoot since he left Memphis.
is it talent if he doesnt use it? You all are acting like 11ppg 6rpg and 4apg with elite shooting numbers is garbage. Like i said, if he comes to the lakers it will be the easist job in the world for him. SHoot 3's and spread the floor. He's no longer had the aggression to take guys off the dribble and be a go to player, but he is still a very solid role player and any contender in the league could use him off their bench. Hope this happens, i have always liked miller
1vnorsemen, not true. Memphis and orlando he created often. Memphis used him at pg for stretches. He often had the ball in his hands and created off the dribble.
Top 5 underrated players In the NBA...when he had the reigns he was a 20 point scorer and leader...he had no talent around the last few years...I love Mike Miller so much ...I made Him one of the stars of "The Free Agent's" Watchmen parody I posted last night...
Mike Miller holds the fate of the Entire World in his hands...Now pass the Kush
The numbers you are talking about are not garbage but they were done with garbage teams at garbage time.
With the Wolves he never came up big.... he just kept passing the ball when they begged him to shoot.
Maybe it wasn't his role but he never created anything once he got to the Wolves.
agree, miller as a creator and go to player has not been the same over the last few years. Buts it not like he was bad. He had little help around him and he has an unselfish mentality which is why he still got 4 assists and passed the ball around despite being in a contract year on a bad team. GM's recognize what they see when a guy is out there and forcing his own shot to get paid. Miller would be a great fit with thelakers.
Even if not the lakers, i created a thread a couple days ago called my 5 most overlooked free agents and mike miller was number 2. I guess i think higher of him then others.
Last year, sasha vujacic, luke walton and adam morrison were filling the role that would be expected of mike mller. And those 3 combined to make about 17 million dollars last year. I think millers a pretty decent step up in my book, epsecially if they cant resign shanon brown.
If they can get him to shoot he'll do well.... but they are giving him a lot of years on that contract. Multiply his pay with a luxury tax and that's a Rudy Gay sized contract the Lakers are offering.
i thought ron artest was the mid level exception. i thought if you signed a guy to multiple years at the mid level exception he was the mle for all those years. can someone clarify mle rules?
Yes, you can use the MLE back to back seasons.
I mean, why not go after Ray Allen if you want a shooter for MLE? Is Miller really that good of a ball handler/ Triangle piece over Allen? This isin't a sarcasic remark, This is a real question LA fans.
miller will be for 6 mill a year, but morrison comes off the books at about 5 mill a year this summer and walton and vujacic come off the books for about 12 mill next summer. Miller basically saves them money. And the lakers are always over the cap. In that case you can just mulitply anybody on hte roster's salary by 2 cause they are never under the cap when they sign anyabody.
I PROMISE I just asked myself the same question. Then I began to think of the loyalty factor and switching sides. But they might as well should have offered Allen when you really think of it.
ray allen hates kobe like no one else out there. You think he was even gonna consider the lakers for the mid level?
He is playing with Kobe so he will shoot the ball or face Kobe's wrath
a little 2 minute clip of kobe and mike not being very sportamanlike with each other.
yeah, i might look to pull up a little earlier too after that. Dirty play by kobe, but i think he realized it right away and the league suspended him for it.
someone does. Call me old school but ill take a suspension to stick up for a teammate. I guess when pau gasol is the nearest teammate you probably got handle your own though.
Raja Bell would be a better fit than Miller if they are just looking for a back up shooting guard, Bell can also play with Kobe if Kobe moves to the point
Steve Blake (would be a great fit) - D Fish
Kobe - Bell
Artest - Ebanks
Gasol - Odom
Bynum - Characther???

Look, if you made a Topic about this, I'm sorry...I didn't see anything so I apologize for reposting the same info, if not..
It's been reported the Lakers have offered Mike Miller 30 Million for 5 Years.
Whoa. I didn't expect that kind of deal, 5 Years? He's already 30...& I didn't expect it from the Lakers.
Just putting it out there
