Michae Dixon Jr. Leave Mizzou amid Rape Allegations
COLUMBIA, Mo., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- University of Missouri basketball guard Michael Dixon Jr. announced his transfer from the school amid rape allegations.
Dave Reiter, director of strategic communications for the basketball team, sent an email Thursday containing a message from Dixon, who was suspended from the team Oct. 26, after it emerged he was being accused of raping a woman Aug. 20, the Columbia Missourian reported Friday.
"It's been a challenging few months and while I appreciate the support of many in the Mizzou community, including my coaches and teammates, it's in the best interest of me, my family and the University of Missouri for me to finish my career elsewhere," the email quoted Dixon as saying.
Dixon sent an email to a friend earlier in the day revealing his decision to leave was influenced by the emergence of rape allegations from Jan. 11, 2010.
"Yea I'm done here bro I'm not gonna be here anymore another girl my freshman year pulled this ... on me now it's coming out and everyone is gonna think it's real so I'm thru bro I appreciate you tho just let as many (people) as u can know," the email read.

That's wild tho, he's a really good player and projected to be one of the better guards in the country this year and its not good that he has to worry about this
Worry about this? That to me sounds like a very insensitive comment Mr Nixon. Being from MO, i love Mizzou and the basketball team and with Dixon, i thought they had a real shot at the final four with him. This seems like a cop out. A person running away from a problem. You think rape allegations aren't going to follow you just because you transfer? I also feel like this is probably truth as one of my good friends (Mizzou student) used to talk to a chick who would get allll sorts of texts from Dixon, non stop and she wasn't into it. Like, he hit a game winner against Drexel or some team like that last year and after the game got a text sayin something like "that shot was for you". I bet that was a mass text. Hope you get your head right Mike...and you as well JNixon with that comment
He's a senior with one semester of eligibility right? Any chance he will go D2 and play immediately?
