gatorheelsParticipantI’m not an ESPN insider so I couldn’t read this article but the part I did see said some like Memphis had a trade to acquire Randolph but they backed out of it last minute. Anybody know the details of this propsed trade. Are they talking about Zach Randolph or Anthony Randolph?

gatorheelsParticipantWOW thanks for the article that is some good information.
I can’t believe that the Clippers were the ones that stopped the trade. Why would Memphis even think about taking Zach Randolph. That would’ve been a disaster for the Grizzlies. Memphis made the right choice by trading for Q Richardson instead.
Also lets take a look at these possibilities:
This is what Memphis got in the draft:
2. Thabeet
27. DeMarre Carroll
36. Sam YoungThrough the propsed trades this is what Memphis could’ve had: ( They should have done all these trades if they were smart, what were they thinking?)
Michael Beasley
Mario Chalmers
Bill Walker
Tony Allen#2 & #27 for Beasley & Chalmers
#36 for Walker & AllenMemphis must just enjoy losing to reject these great trades that could’ve improved their team immediately.

gatorheelsParticipantThis could’ve been the Grizzlies lineup.
PG-Conley/Chalmers
SG-Mayo/Richardson/Walker
SF-Gay/Allen
PF-Beasley/Warrick/Arthur
C-GasolMaybe the Grizzlies will spend a little money in free agency. They have to find an upgrade at PF. They need some depth at SG too.

futureGM22ParticipantI think what people are saying is right. The Memphis GM Chris Wallace is trigger shy now after he gave up Pau Gasol for nothing. He doesn’t want to make another idiotic trade so he just doesn’t make any significant trades anymore. He probably asks for too much now in each trade so that the trade is clearly in favor of the Griz and other GMs decline the trade

SmooveKRYPTParticipantWhat a freakin IDIOT…if you’d take Hasheem Thabeet over Michael Beasley you should be fired Chris Wallace!!!
With a core of Mayo/Gay/Beasley they’d have a brighter future than OKC!!!
Chalmers for the 27th pick is a no-brainer!!!
And Tony Allen & Bill Walker for a 2nd rounder…I don’t even need to say anything.
A starting 5 of: Conley, Mayo, Gay, Beasley, Gasol.
With: Chalmers, Allen, Richardson, Walker, & Arthur coming off the bench…that is at worst a late lottery team!!!0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/27/2009 - 11:42am #172424
gatorheelsParticipantMan lilikwon1 I feel your pain….I can’t believe the Grizzlies turned all those trades down….WTF were they thinking?

GreenLanternParticipantI heard that Chris Wallace is tramatized over the Pau Gasol trade to the point where he has difficulty believing he isn’t getting tricked into a bad deal by other GMs. 99% of those confirmed trade proposals would have made the Grizz better than Thabeet at #2. Kind of sad.
