Mad MaxParticipantInteresting, if D Rose can’t really come back and play or is a shell of himself I would say Carmelo, since he can score from anywhere and carry a team offensively. Love is great, but as a big he’s dependent on a guard to get the ball to him. If Rose comes back I really like the pairing of him and Love. Tough call, but the Bulls really need to land one of them.

BA30ParticipantI aggree with 90% of that. Love is a great fit with a good PG or an exceptional one like Rose. The drive and kicks would be difficult to stop. Still, part of the Bulls offense has been to feed Boozer some down low and work the iso in the post. Unfortunately Boozer is a shell of his former self and just an overall soft player. Melo would fit right into that role without much change to the offense even with Rose.

Memphis MadnessParticipantNoah, Love, Butler, and Rose would be a great Core Four with Taj Gibson off the bench if they could do that too.
Mirotic, 16, 19, Boozer’s contract, and Tony Snell might not get you Kevin Love, but it COULD get you Carmelo Anthony.
Rose, Butler, Carmelo, Taj Gibson, and Joakim Noah would be a really good starting five. That lineup would have everything you need.
Both are great guys, but who comes at the right price?
If the Bulls are just Rose, Love, and Noah that is a heck of a big three but they might not have anything on the wing. Just Dunleavy and Ronnie Brewer if Snell and Butler end up going to Minnesota.

Nick YoungParticipantIf you can choose between a guy who can put up a lot of points and doesn’t play D (Melo) and a guy who can put up a lot of points and doesn’t play D (Love), why not pick the guy that plays a position where you don’t have a lot of depth?

Status QuoParticipantI think it is a simple case of how these two scorers score and how they would be relied upon to score in the Bulls’ Offensive system. Defensively I believe it is a wash, not because both players can’t play defense or have to be hidden defensively, but because Anthony is a decent enough defensive player and Love’s age says he can at least become a decent enough defensive player.
Pros for Anthony: Scores in a variety of ways, catch and shoot, in the post, off the dribble, runs the floor well and can create scoring chances moving without the ball. Anthony is a go-to scorer, even at 30, he becomes the Bulls first option while D. Rose can ease back into game shape. Would give the Bulls offense two pick and roll options on offense, being able to not only be the screener with Rose, but run the pick and roll with Noah. A better passer than he is given credit for and playing for a contender with this most talent he’s had on a team would show more of the creativity of his game we only normally get to see with him on Olympic teams.
Cons for Anthony: Can be too ball dominant and stifle an offense with repetitive isolation, partly his own fault for not trusting his teammates but also because he’s not had talent around him he can trust. You don’t want Carmelo taking the ball out of a healthy D. Rose’s hands but to be a player the Rose can truly rely on and facilitate to. Hasn’t shown on the NBA level that he can make his teammates better, I mentioned he was a better passer than he is given credit for, but he has to actually make that pass first.
Pros for Love: Excellent pick and roll player, has accurate range out to 25 ft. Would space the floor for D. Rose to create offense. Excellent rebounder on both sides of the floor. Still developing post game that is low to the ground but is still effective. Excellent outlet passer, would help get Jimmy Butler, D. Rose and any smart enough to just run the floor, easy buckets on the fast break. Like Anthony a better passer in the half court than given credit for, Love is an intelligent player and playing next to Noah makes you want to play hard and hit open cutters. There is no reason when Noah isn’t on the floor, Love can’t man the high post and hit cutters like Noah.
Cons for Love: Love needs someone to get him the ball in spots where he can score. A well-rounded offensive player for a power forward but never is Kevin Love taking someone off the dribble from the wing. He is predictable offensively, he is going to shoot the three from the top of the key of the pick and roll, he’s going to offensive rebound and get put backs, but he still leaves the responsibility of creating offense on Rose. Like Carmelo, I think he has trust issues in his teammates and therefore hasn’t shown he can make anyone better on his team. For all the points and rebounds he collects, it doesn’t reflect in the win’s column and in the playoff picture. Yes the West is tougher than the East but a talent such as Love is looked upon to carry teams to the playoffs, he hasn’t done that.
