Does this site have him #1 anticpating a trade? Because I can’t see Cleveland taking McLemore. He doesn’t fit a need, Cav’s have a good backourt, and McLemore doesn’t add anything different that Waiters can, expect size. Unless he’s seen by the Cavs as the the clear cut best player in the draft, like Wall, Kyrie or Davis were the last 3 years, I can’t see Cleveland taking him. BTW, nobody has McLemore as the clear-cut top player in the draft.

I think there’s a legit chance a trade happens at #1, but if McLemore goes #1, I think Cleveland moves the pick. I dunno, does the site think that highly of McLemore or low of other players? Or just trying to be different?

    Seems confusing, I like turtles.

Their reasoning is, “After taking Dion Waiters with the fourth pick last year, going with Noel seems to make more sense, but if history is any lessen going with their top rated prospect regardless of position is the best recipe for success. This pick will come down to who the team values more between McLemore and Noel. And Tristan vs Waiters could also factor in, but Waiters probably would still work in a 6th man role, while Noel and Tristan probably duplicate one another too much. After Nerlens Noel suffered a season ending ACL injury, McLemore became the favorite to be the top pick. But with inconsistent play, culminated by a dreadful tourney performance in which he scored 2 points on 0-9 shooting vs. UNC, McLemore left the door open for Noel to go first even with the ACL injury. McLemore bounced back with a big final game against Michigan, showing off his feathery touch and athletic gifts. He is not a finished product and scouts will nitpick his level of assertiveness and lack of a fiery personality leading up to the draft. But at the end of the day, he’s the guy in this draft with the greatest shot at becoming a superstar. While the feat has not been accomplished (a SG going 1) in 40 years, McLemore is in position to do it. His outside shot is comparable to a perfect golf swing, it’s a thing of beauty. Combine that with freakish athleticism and you have a high level prospect.” – Taken from their Mock Draft 4.0 article.

I don’t really agree with it but I come to this site more for the conversation anyways. I honestly think it’s Porter or Noel or they trade it.

Ok thanks, didn’t see that. I mean if Cleveland thinks McLemore is the best player than I would say they should and would likely take him, espescially if it’s not close. That’s not how I see it, but I’m not the Cav’s GM, nor should I be.

You take the BPA regardless of positions and Mclemore looks like he might be the best player in the draft. Unlike waiters Mclemore plays very well off the ball, deadly shooter, plays defense and doesn’t dominate the ball. Waiters just seems like he’s eventually going to be a 6 th man.

Also Irving wasn’t the clear cut favorite to go number 1 especially compared to wall and Davis who were no brainer picks. There were some who had derrick willams number 1 while wall and Davis were unanimous picks at 1.

One thing you guys should probably remember is that in the last 2 drafts Cleveland hasn’t exactly picked players that, at that time, “filled needs”. In 2011, if you remember, they drafted Kyrie Irving even though they already had Baron Davis AND Ramon Sessions running the PG. And then, three picks later, they selected PF Tristan Thompson when they already had Antawn Jamison AND JJ Hickson at that spot. Now I admit that Waiters last year did fill a need, just remember that they may not always be looking for that but rather who, at least in THEIR eyes, is the best talent available at their pick. Draft McLemore at #1? No, doesnt really make sense, but knowing Cleveland it wouldnt surprise me.

If I was the Cavs GM I would be desperate to move out or down in this draft. There just isnt a player that is worth that pick.

I don’t think it would be that crazy to take him #1… it would be easy to rotate Irving, Waiters, and McLemore at guard since Waiters can play PG, and against poor offensive small forwards they can play all three in the same lineup.
