I think someone might reach for him. His tantalizing shooting is just such an asset in todays NBA. His excellent combine results would suggest he might be able to  play SF if you have a defensive center to help him out time to time. I think his draft ceiling is as high as 5. Remember Utah reached for Hayward at #9 when he was mocked in the mid teens, and it worked out fairly well (except for passing on George).

…but now that Utah have Hayward, they don’t need another SF in McDermott. I do see what you’re saying though, and I won’t be surprised to see him go in the top 10. The Kings, Hornets and 76ers should all take a good look at him and consider taking him with their picks.

I have Doug in my 3rd tier of prospects this season, with Vonleh, Randle, Smart, Exum, and Gordon rounding out my 2nd tier.

I do think Doug has a good shot at going 8 or 9, though. Both teams, Charlotte and Sacramento, have big space clearing low post scorers and not a lot of shooters around them. Doug could slide in and spread the floor for Boogie or Big Al right away, and give both teams an NBA ready guy to help them win.

Either on of those picks makes so much sense to me that I ‘d be surprised if he fell past 9, but if he does I don’t think he gets past Hornecek and the Suns at 14.

Check the latest video on him on the other site against nba lenght, was impressed since didnt watch him much this season.5 seems a bit high, but shooting is always asked for and hes a borderline elite  one ,especially on a team where he doesnt have to create all his offense..
