Top 10 pick this year. Anyone want to take that bet?

Is he even going to come out this year or will he stay in school for his sophomore year?

You see 1 game of his and now your all over his nutts.

But he is a nice player for St. Johns. Probably still a tweener though.

My man shot 14-17 for 32 points against Providence earlier this year.

The only thing that will hold him back is not going to the tournament this year, so he won’t get that exposure, and St. John’s will be much improved next year, especially if he stays.

My bet is that he’s a top-10 pick whenever he comes out, though.

He’s a great player but he probably wont be top 10 if for some reason he came out this year. I could see the 14-18 range though

How does anyone feel about comparing Moe Harkless to Wilson Chandler.  Both are Big East players and around the same size (height and weight).  I think Moe is a little further along than Wilson was as a freshman, but I really see a lot of similiarities in their games.

    – They both excel at rebounding
    – Both are fluid athletes (above average but not great athleticism)
    – Good shooting form for the postion they played in college (Wilson is a pretty decent shooter in the league and I see the same for Moe)
    – Ball handling is not the best but they both can find a way around their man off the dribble.

Let me know your guys thoughts.

I’ve watched about 15 SJ games this year, and I think Harkless is getting a tad over-hyped. That being said, he does deserve much of the attention he has received, and has the ability to present himself as a great NBA prospect – but that will most likely take another year.

      – The first thing you notice is that he’s 6-8 and long. He’s lean, but has a solid build, and takes contact well. He’s listed at 190 by some sites, but he looks to be about 210 at the moment.

      – Athletically, he’s best described as "smooth". He’s playing out of position (usually starts at the 4/5), but SJ spreads the floor, and Harkless usually has no problem taking opposing bigs off the dribble. He’s not an explosive leaper, but he’s solid, and his length and touch allow him to finish well at the rim.

      – He’s got solid control of the ball, and has some nice 2-3 dribble moves out of the triple threat. He’s definitely not an advanced ball-handler, nor does he have an exceptionally quick first step…but his mix of fluidity, length and control should result in a capable driving game at the next level.

      – As a shooter, he needs work. It’s not bad, and he’s shown the ability to hit fairly regularly from the 10-15 range, which is partly because defenders don’t crowd him with his driving ability. But he doesn’t follow through thoroughly and his hand tends to stop short on his release, which definitely hinders his J…particularly from 3, where he’s shooting 24% for the year.

      – Defensively, he has quite a bit of potential, as shown by his 1.9 bpg and 1.6 spg. He doesn’t have elite lateral movement, but he moves well enough…and his length makes him disruptive. Most of the year, he’s had to defend inside, where he’s had his struggles (as you’d expect a 6-8 freshman wing to). If SJ can bring in some bigs for 12-13, Harkless would benefit greatly (as he could switch between the college 3/4, rather than playing exclusively inside).

Overall, he definitely needs another year, if he wants to become a lottery prospect. This year, I could see a team taking a flier on him in the 15-25 range, but he would struggle to transition to the NBA perimeter. I still don’t see him becoming an "elite" prospect, just because he’s not a top-flight athlete and his offensive skill-level will continue to be hindered by his jumper (unless its completely re-worked). Either way, he does have quite a bit of potential on both ends.

Harkless is definitely not a tweener. He’s a SF. He could add some beef though.

I just read a story on him on the other website that we don’t mention, but it said he is planning on coming out this year.

But if he has a shot at top 15 my thinking is come out. Terence Jones is losing paper this.year.

If this guy was born in mid 1993 or later, I can see Moe going late lotto in this year draft if he comes out. Age is a key component when drafting a fresheman and a sophomore. On the other hand a lot of guys need to stay and make sure they are ready before coming out, another year of experience will never hurt.

Moe harkless has been a very good player all season long if he were to ocme out this year he would be a mid 1st rounder. He is 1993 born has length and height at 6’8 and a 7ft wingspan. Is athletic and has ball skills which he has showcase in most games this year.Only thing that may hurt him is the red storm missing the tournament. Now if he stays we are talking mid lottery next year. DX named him prospect of the week so people are watching.

I like this guy.  He has balls.  Half his threads are silly, but the other half…

Kudos to whoever made the Wilson Chandler comparison. He reminds of Rudy Gay and that comparison is thrown around alot, but a lesser version. Wilson Chandler is a great comparison, although he’s more skilled and less mechanical than Chandler when he declared but less explosive athletically. He’s got the talent and physical tools of a lotto pick, but he needs a little more polish and strength to really be ready for the NBA. He should stay another year IMO
