Currently this site has him going 40th in the draft (I have him higher). If Virginia have a good tournament can he keep rising up the board ? Malcolm Brogdon – Excellent shooter and defender. Good IQ and fits well within a team – doesn’t try and do too much. Great body for SG. I know kids on here will be jumping up and down saying that he is older, but that is a pro and a con. Yes traditionally age would go against you but it could work well here for Brogdon. He has experience and a good body – he would be less raw than some skinny freshman kid with a heap of mixtape highlights who would take a few years to develop. This could work very well getting him picked late in the first round, to a contending team needing someone to come in a contribute right away…. 3nD players seem to be the current fad in the NBA… Toronto or Spurs maybe ? – his role could be similar to Danny Green or Gary Neal when he was there…

His lateral quickness is a big concern for me- I’d want to see him guard at a high level against NBA calibre athletes in workouts before taking him in the first, but if he did that I’d definitely take a flyer on him, has the prototypical 3 and D wing characteristics.

Im a Philadelphia fan and I want us to target a guy like Brogdon with that OKC pick in the late 1st

All we need from our SG is some defense and a respectable 3 point shot, Okafor and Embiid need a floor spacer, same goes for Noel and Saric, I want Ingram and the best SG available with our Miami and OKC picks(I’d package them to move up for Hield or Murray if possible, or trade the Miami pick for a solid veteran PG and draft a SG with the OKC pick i.e. Brogdon or Bacon)

The Spurs would love a guy like Brogdon, so would the Hawks and Celtics…Smart, tough defenders with a high IQ and a 3 point shot…Too bad I want him on Philadelphia lol, almost certainly means he want end up here…

Love this kids game though, Im pulling for him in the tournament

What does this even mean? "Eh" as in what? I’m pretty sure Heat fans aren’t saying "eh" right about now if you mention Richardson to them. Are you saying they’re similar players?  Are you implying Richardson was an overdrafted, late riser and Brogdon will be too?  What kind of cryptic sht is that?

I’ll say this about Brogdon though, he reminds me of pre-achilles Wes Matthews.  Similar body type (MB’s actually a bit longer), strength and athleticism. Similar heady, well-rounded floor game, underrated playmaking ability, tough defense and outside shooting ability…both are/were extremely well-coached and showed gradual improvement. Wes has less moving parts in his stroke and he was a foul drawing machine his last year in college, but that latter aspect of his game wasn’t really translatable because he’s not an explosive driver.  While Brogdon does not draw fouls at a similar rate, he is a better finisher than Wes, which could be a function of that extra length.

In any case, I think he’s s safe, unsexy pick and it shouldn’t have taken this long for him to rise.  He’s been excellent all year. 40% from 3 on good volume, conference DPOY as a wing. 3 and D sounds about right. And for those of you saying he’ll only be a 3 and D, those kinds of players are very valuable and aren’t as common as you’d think.

    Bump for Malcolm Brogdon.

8ppg on 46% and 44% from 3 is very good for a rookie SG this early on in his rookie season. If you want to go one better he is 9-3-5 on 52% and 50% for the month of December.

Taken 36th overall I bet there are quite a few playoff teams who wish they took him earlier in the draft. Boston had 3 picks and Clippers 2 picks where they could of taken him. Even contending teams like the Spurs and Warriors would be better off with someone like Brogdon who can contribute right away.
