McDunkin10+ years ago who (outside of Bill) would have thought Luke Walton would have stacked championship rings for 2 teams (3 counting the nbadl) and coached at the ncca, nbadl, and NBA levels.

nick5354ParticipantI never understood why a lot of people use to make jokes about him. He has an incredibly highbasketball IQ and knowldge about the game, so I am not surpised that he has went into coaching. He will be a more successful coach than player.

SkalAndJamalParticipantLOL this post brought me back such funny memories about Luke. I’ll tell you what an avid Lakers fan remembers about Luke.
1. Phil Jackson’s face when reporters asked if Luke was a viable option.
2. When he did play the opposing Small Forwards having the game of their lives.
3. Being by far the worst 2k player.

ballislyfe25ParticipantHow long until he gets a head coaching offer?
Lakers should be trying to bring him back once Kobe is gone and Scott’s outdated ways get him run out of town. Phil may go after him to once Fisher proves complete incompetence.

Reptilian MonkParticipantBill and Luke Walton are a father/ son acid tag team. They do psychadelics and are cool as hell.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantHe was serviceable as a player and better than a lot of people give him credit for. He actually started and played a pretty major role for a few years for the Lakers when they were going through their transition years between the early and late 2000s championship runs. Then, as their talent level began to increase again, and he had some injuries, his playing time decreased dramatically to the point where he was barely seeing the floor.
He was a tremendous passer and very cerebral player who was almost too unselfish at times. He would sometimes be reluctant to take open shots even though he wasn’t a bad shooter. That and below average athleticism were his 2 biggest downfalls as a player. He still wasn’t horrible though by any stretch of the imagination and found ways to contribute on the floor when he did get consistent mins. I think he definitely has the potential to be a very good coach in the league someday.

Memphis MadnessParticipantSurprised more teams don’t use the Triangle Offense. If it is hard to learn as a player then it should be EVEN HARDER to defend against… The Triangle requires all-around skills including shooting and passing along with high basketball IQ’s. But, it is a REAL offense and not some gimmick.
If he knows that inside and out he will ALWAYS have a job.
If not with the Lakers or Knicks then with a high level college team.
