Well, the BCS Selection show is in a few hours and the word is, the championship game will be SEC vs. SEC and a re-match of LSU vs. Alabama. The only other team that seems to have a legitimate shot at playing in the championship, Oklahoma State, is ahead in the computers (1/3 of everything) and behind in the AP polls (1/3 of everything). It is widely assumed the coaches poll will probably be in favor of Alabama.

Now, I know that the SEC is the best conference in football. It is incredibly deep and they have some absolutely incredible athletes, particularly on the front lines of both defense and offense. LSU has been an absolute beast all year and Alabama’s defense is giving up 8.8 ppg on the season (insane, though the most they gave up was 21 to Georgia Southern, which boggles the mind). Still, I am not sold on this scenario.

The LSU/Alabama game was a defensive purists dream, 9-6 in OT. But, man, it was SO boring. That is not necessarily the best reason for excluding Alabama. But, I feel that no matter how deep the SEC is, they have two teams this year clearly ahead of the rest. I guess what I mean by stating that last factoid is that I think their are teams from other conferences (Big 12, Pac 12, B1G Ten or however they are spelling it), who could compete with SEC teams.

The excuse is always "How would such and such team do in the SEC West". Well, the world may never know, but I think that their are definitely teams who would be competitive in that conference. One of those teams is Oklahoma State. Their offensive attack is incredibly explosive and they have weapons that would make for a very interesting match-up with any team in the nation. You may say that my Ducks were similar, which may be true, but was that game not more fun to watch than LSU/Bama? I would say so.

Any team LSU faces will be heavy underdogs in my book. Yes, it is at a "neutral" site. In Louisiana. I am sure Bama fans would get there in droves, but you will be seeing a lot more yellow and purple on your TV screens. I feel Bama already got their chance. I truly hope that the coaches vote Oklahoma State into the title game. Either way, we are going to get some epic Bowl games, but I do not want a repeat of Bama/LSU. It just gets less and less exciting every time one thinks about it. I will more than likely still watch it, but it seems super anti-climactic.

Now, I KNOW THE BCS SYSTEM SUCKS! NCAA FOOTBALL SHOULD HAVE A PLAY-OFF (I think even a 4 team play-off would be sufficient. Their are usually about 4 teams you might argue for as being championship worthy, any more than that would be a bit ridiculous). But, this post is not meant to be about that. So, if you could keep your play-off suggestions to a minimum, I thank you.

My question is, who do you (seriously, I hope) feel should be in the NCAA Championship Game playing LSU, Oklahoma State or Alabama?

I am going with Oklahoma State, though it seems like Bama will get it. This is about who YOU feel should be there, not who will be there. Just was interested to see peoples theories on who should be playing LSU in the championship game this season.

It should be Alabama vs. OK State and the winner plays LSU. Until something like that is in place, I will never look at CFB as a real sport (league? idk what word I’m lookin’ for.)

On a side note, I will trade Andy Reid, the Eagles Defense, DeSean Jackson, a year supply of cheese steaks from Tony Lukes, and Juan Castillo for LSU’s defense lol.

But, it can be frustrating. Plus, I think two teams playing to face one team is kind of lame as well. LSU should have to play someone besides freaking Georgia. I think an 8 team play-off would be stupid. As much as I love seeing a lot of football games, there are enough as is. 4 would definitely make it interesting. The problem, of course, would be that they would try to make it involve automatic bids for conferences and all of that garbage. However, if they just made it 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3, than I would be OK with it. Any more than that would get, for lack of a better word, insane.

Still, it used to be that there was no real championship whatsoever, so I do think this system at least TRIES to provide a real champion. I guess I am not completely indignant about it, people would complain regardless. People still b!tch about who made or did not make March Madness, what region they are in, who they have to play, so on and so forth. It is just much easier to prepare for basketball as opposed to football. You need at least a week with football, and I guess they take forever between Bowl Games, but I am sure this is all pretty hard to organize.

I am not one of those completely anti-BCS people, because the system previous was even worse. Still, it has its flaws and I am sure team #5 would be crying a red streak in a 4 play-off system. I just feel that Oklahoma State and LSU is a game I have not seen, whereas I really do not have a lot invested in seeing LSU and Alabama play again. The first time was boring, the second time should be…….well, boring. It would be awesome to see Oklahoma State play Alabama as well, but I think that would be a tad ridiculous. Where would you play the games? A lot of logistics and planning in these football games as opposed to March Madness, which I think is more of an event anyone goes to rather than necessarily just the fans of the schools playing in it.

I’d love a playoff. Just saying I would settle for a Bama- OK St. play-in game if I could.

“Yeah, it’s been great,’ Davis tells HOOPSWORLD. “Just got to keep working hard, it’s been tough on us, tough on me especially because of guys coming after me. I got to learn how to play through that and move onto the next game.”
