YoungKINGSParticipantLove when programs that fell under the radar gets studs in. Excited to see Antonio Blakeney and Ben Simmons team up at LSU. Right now they Jarell Martin a 6’10 forward who is averaging 18pts 9 rebs as a sophmore, Jordan Mickey a 6’8 forward averaging 16pts 10 rebs as sophmore, junior guard Keith Hornsby and soph 6’6 guard Tim Quarterman are both avg double digits in points on a 11-2 LSU tiger team. Future looks bright over there.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantDo you think their commitments will have any influence on whether or not Jarell Martin and/or Jordan Mickey enter the draft? Martin looks like a borderline 1st round pick right now, Mickey probably an early-mid 2nd rounder. Could be a very good team with all returning.

OhCanada-ParticipantI was gonna make a thread about this as well. Can they compete with Kentucky in the LSU with this recruiting class?

MopgrassParticipantIt’s all hard to say now. Where is Jaylen Brown going and possibly Thon Maker? I don’t what those guy’s final lists are, but Kentucky is likely on it.
I think the big advantage Kentucky has today is the combination of size and speed. That comes from Towns and Cauley-Stein (Poythress before he was hurt). Poythress might return, but not the other two. They’d lose their clear edge. Dakari and Lee could come back.
I assume LSU’s Mickey goes pro. I actually think he could crack the 1st round. LSU could even recruit a few more players interested in winning the whole thing. It’s a good day to be them.

Rip255I think Simmons will be the best player in College basketball next season. If some of LSUs current squad sticks around, they’re my favourite to win the national championship.

agentoaktreeParticipantInterested in Simmons missing the cut from the Australian National Team during Training camp for the FIBA world cup. (Ben Simmons does not make Australia’s national team | CollegeBasketballTalk) He’s obviously younger than many of the Aussies who have experience in the NBA and Euroleague, but still maybe those coaches saw something that Americans did’nt see when he was beating up on High-schoolers (his peers) on a STACKED Montverde team that ran the perfect system for his type of game. He could develop and reach his potential make this post laughable on draft day 2016, but just thought him being not quite ready to crack Australia’s top 12 was worth a look given Australian coaches may likely be the best in the world at developing skilled tough hoopers. I think Simmon’s will be a stud, but he could take some time to adjust to big time college basketball.

ChoppyParticipantEssentially he was the last cut from the team. Given another injury he’d have made it. Often we look at prospects (LeBron etc) that seem to be men among boys. At the time of the world champs, Simmons I think had only just turned 17, meaning he was still 2 years younger than even Dante Exum, who although handy is still very raw. He would have been a boy among men. Not sure how he would’ve handled the physicality of the FIBA rules. His missing out wasn’t a slight against him, it was a reflection that at 17 he wasn’t physically ready for the international game.

agentoaktreeParticipantThats why I tried to make it clear that I still think he’ll be a darn good player and potentially great player, and I don’t see it as a slight at all. I just wanted to mention it because while people are gushing over him he is still just a kid, Think he is likely to be big time at LSU next year but it’s not a sure thing.
