Today, in his chat, Chris Sheridan was asked who the Magic would rather accept for D12: Lopez, Noah, or Bynum.

His answer: "Lopez does not belong in that sentence. My answer is Noah."

IS THIS GUY SERIOUS?  I’m not even a big Lopez fan.  But he averaged 30 a game against the Lakers this year.  He dominated Bynum.  Lopez went for 35/6/4 in 37 minutes.  Bynum went 2/5/1 in 22 minutes.  Lopez just turned 23 years old.

Here are the stats for the year:

    Lopez: 20.4/6/1.5 – PER of 19.33

    Bynum: 11.3/9.4/2 – PER of 21.14

    Noah: 11.7/10.4/.5 – PER of 18.83

I’m not saying Lopez blows these guys out of the water.  Nor am I saying he doesn’t need to bring his rebounding back to WHERE it WAS.  (He was averaging almost 9 a game his first two years).  But to say he doesn’t belong in the same sentence as these two guys is PURE KNICKS HOMERISM.  Which should not be allowed from a person ESPN pays to be objective.

    Anyone disagree with me?

Lopez is a terrible rebounder..how do you expect him to replace the 14rpg that D12 provides to the magic..

Your right, im not saying he shouldnt be allowed in the conversation, but hes definetly in last place of the 3

This year his rebounding was awful.  It’s not going to stay at 6 per game, though.  He’s an 8 to 9 rebounds per game player.

Also, he’s never missed an NBA game in his career.  How many have Bynum and Noah missed?  Isn’t Lopez better for 82 games than Noah or Bynum for 50?

If Lopez keeps pulling in more than two offensive rebounds per game and remains on the most skilled offensive centers in the league, he is going to be fine. Nobody should lose sleep over individual defensive rebounding numbers. Kris Humphries were the reason Lopez’s rebounding numebers dipped. Marc Gasol’s rebounding numbers dipped in the regular season too. It really meant nothing.

Lopez is still 22 years old rebounding is 99 percent hustle. That can be teached but he has alot of skills that Noah will never have. So my answer would be Lopez .

Why would Dwight wanna leave Orlando?  I think they need to try and get some other guys to play with him.  They have some bad pieces, but they have the best center in the game, a couple of good shooters (Reddick, Ryan Anderson), a solid point guard who can score (Jameer Nelson), and a solid power forward who can score (Brandon Bass).  J Rich might have some trade value (maybe trade him to the Bulls for their two first round picks and Ronnie Brewer).  The Magic need to get some younger guys and Ronnie Brewer can give them the type of player they had when Pietrus was playing for them.  Howard and Nelson are two good scoring options, they need to get a good third option.  Preferrably a small forward who can play some defense too.  If AI is available, I would go after him.

J Rich and Hedo might be enough to get Iggy.  Not sure why the Sixers want to trade Iggy, but whatever.  It IS the Sixers afterall.

Not sure where Dwight Howard can go to have the best shot at getting a ring, but I think that Orlando is a pretty good place.  A team would have to give up too much in a trade to have enough left over…

I think he might stay where he is.

Lopez is a way better offensive player than Noah, and more Durable than Bynum. Yes he needs to hustle more and hit the glass. But you cannot deny his offensive ability coupled with the fact he is younger than Noah and the Same age as Bynum. Lopez average 20pts a game this season. How is he not in the conservation. Noah is a energy guy not a go to big man.

Exactly my point!  How can Sheridan, a so called "NBA Expert," get away with saying this?!

HE HATES THE NETS.  And he should not be paid for such bias.

To Memphis Madness, and everyone else… the point of this thread was not to discuss D12.  It was to discuss how baseless, pointless, and bias Chris Sheridan’s comments are.  He is a piece of garbage.

He wrote an entire article bashing the Nets Prudential Center for being cold and having rat traps.  A couple of weeks later MSG had the asbestos problems and the Knicks were talking about playing at Prudential.  Any mention of that from him?  NO.

    I know it’s petty… but I really can’t take it anymore.

Bynum takes an average of 8 shots a game with kobe gasol odom artest and brown taking more shots then him. He’s a better rebounder and shot blocker then lopez.

We turned away Amare for Iggy and Dalembert two years ago, turned down Melo for Iguadola this year too, we are keeping Iguadola unless a great deal is offered, We would like to make a play for Howard ourselves, we could offer Iggy, Holiday, Hawes, Nocioni and draft picks for Howard and Nelson, our lineup would be Nelson, Turner, Young, Brand and Howard, Lou Williams, Meeks and Speights on the Bench…Orlando would get Holiday at Pg, Iggy at Sg, Nocioni at Sf, Hawes at Center and whoever they’d draft with the pick we’d give them this year

Hustle is not something that can be taught, it comes within so unless Lopez has a fire lit under him Kris Humphries is going to keep cleaning up the glass

So that hustle from within doesn’t apply to the offensive rebounds Lopez gets?

That answer would make sense if Orlando had good young wing scorers.  I could see if they had some young athletic guys on the wing to build their team around and choosing Noah to best fill the defensive void left by Howard then, yes.

But Orlando, to me, is a team who is in a bit of trouble going forward.  Their wing scorers are getting old, and starting to trail off and Nelson is a nice PG, but he’s got some injury history and isn’t getting any younger.

Bynum or Lopez would make more sense to me with this current roster because they can do more on offense and are still defensive presences in the lane.  I feel like Noah should still be in the mix because he does a lot of good things, but I wouldn’t choose him going forward to go with Orlando’s aging wings, unless they knew they were trading for a capable young wing scorer.

You would be losing Howard’s offensive presence, if you replace him with a C that draws a double team you keep the offensive game plan you had with Howard, Lopez and Bynum would fit better with Orlando’s current pieces, now I would want a guy like Lopez if I’m rebuilding, Bynum if I’m in need of a high risk high reward pay off and Noah if I’m already a potential contender….since losing Howard implies rebuilding , Lopez is the guy you take out of the three…

lopez only brings scoring to the table.  noah is one of the best defenders in the league.  bynum is just huge and still has a lot potential even though he is injured all the time.  not one GM or coach would rather have lopez over noah or bynum even if they are rebuilding.

I think most gms would take him over Noah.  Not many centers are big time scorers, and I expect that Lopez’s rebounding will improve.  Rebounding was actually one of the Nets strengths this year (that doesn’t mean they were good at it, they just were about average, which is more than you can say about most of their game).  Yes, Lopez is a worse defender than Noah, but he is a better post defender than Noah.  Lopez’s defense has even more room to grow than Noah’s offense.  Lopez could fit well next to a mobile, athletic power forward.  Noah is a better fit for some teams, but Lopez is not a player whose contributions can be easily replaced.

I can definatley understand why he’d say noah … if you’re building a team today, the primary thing you need out of your frontcourt, specifically the 5 position is rebounding and shot blocking, scoring … then you can look for a 4 who will be able to draw double teams in the post and like most teams get the majority of your scoring out of your backcourt
