Lotto StudParticipantExcellent decision on his part while flying under the radar. He’s going to be an absolute steal for any team that takes him because he’s not only a well-rounded player, but he’s a great character addition for any organization to take on.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantReminds me of Brandon Roy. Didn’t have the type of year many expected, but u can see the potential.

Lotto StudParticipantI hope he participates in the combine to potentially rise up the boards.

tblazer_NZParticipantCan you explain the Brandon Roy comp? I can’t see that. To me Lonnie plays at a completely different pace to Brandon. Brandon Roy was a sneaky athlete but used his ball handling, footwork, body, change of pace and soft touch to create separation to get off clean shots. Lonnie seems to play at one pace, full speed and uses his 3 point shooting as a tool to pump take and drive to the basket or just shoot it. Obviously Lonnie is just a freshman and Roy was a senior when he got drafted ao Roy was a lot more polished.

ChewyParticipantin the 7-15 range. He is hyper athletic which gives him tons of defensive potential. He is a streaking shooter but his form looks good and will get more consistant w/ nba reps.
He’s been safely in the Nbadraft 1st rd mocks all year, but I still think people arn’t talking about him as much as they should.

khoss76ParticipantBut he could have benefited from one more year in college.
Upside and immediate efficiency are not the same and while he has top notch athleticism, his consistency, shooting and passing is far from being perfect.
Wish him the best but I hope he will not regret his decision in 2/3 years.

Lotto StudParticipantIt’s not worth the risk of re-injuring that knee again. He’s a bright kid that will take full advantage of his opportunity to receive his degree.

HobbyOGParticipantReminds me of a poor man Malik Beasley and that’s not saying much…another player who was hyped coming out of college and now on the bench averaging 3.5 pts a game. I don’t see the hype in this kid, too many people hype these kids off of High school mixtapes and stats.Inconsistent in college, couldn’t take over so ya’ll expect him to do thi in the pros? Against grown men? Trevor Duval another one..

ChewyParticipantHe is so athletic that there will be many plays where he doesn’t read the play exactly right and still will be able to do good things because he is so fast/quick.
There is no reason to think he can’t tighten up his handles and shooting with 2-3 years of NBA coaching/training. And once he gets used to the NBA game, he was start making better reads during plays and then his athletcism will really pay off.
Whereas a player like Jalen Brunson, who is one of the smartest players I have ever seen, will HAVE TO BE that smart to survive. He will have to make the right reads every play to be effective because he will always be a half step to a step slower than every other NBA PG.
I agree with you on Duval, but not Lonnie.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI get some of the negativity on here. He didn’t really have the type of freshman season many projected. However, for that reason I kind of think he could ultimately be a steal in this draft. The physical tools are clearly there to be an impact player at both the offensive and defensive end at the next level. But he will likely require some patience. He’s definitely going to need to learn to pick his spots better and play without the ball, but those are things that can be taught. I wouldn’t judge his game too much based on his one season in college.

Sewok15ParticipantAs a Sixers fan there isn’t a guard in this draft that I would rather have…perhaps I am a bit biased since I have been a Lonnie fan since he was a 9th grader. Sexton will be a stud but he needs the ball in his hands to thrive and the Sixers already have too many players like that. Trae Young just seems like one of those college scoring machines who isn’t going to be able to defend anybody.
Personally I would have liked to see him play another year in college and dominate the ACC but I also would have declared if I would have been in his shoes. An injury already slowed him down to start this year so no need to take a chance when you are a first round lock.
Lonnie’s athleticism, shooting stroke and 6-10 wingspan are tailor made for the NBA. The Malik Beasley comparison is ridiculous…Lonnie has 10 pounds of muscle on Beasley right now at 19 years old. He is much more explosive too.
Russ Westbrook averaged 12 points per game his 2nd season at UCLA….after hardly playing his freshmen year. I am not saying Lonnie will be MVP of the league one day but it is not unheard of for players to bloom a little later…especially when they have elite athletic ability.
Lonnie could be the SG of the future in Philly…Fultz has looked good in his return but not shooting the ball…he seems like more of a PG than SG at this point.
