After the shoplifting issue, Lavar is apparently upset with the suspension of LiAngelo. What does the future hold for Gelo as a basketball player (if there’s any)?

Daddy already has his hi-tops being made there…maybe he will pack an extra pair of sunglasses.

    My guess:

After being pressured by dad, Gelo declares early, only to find out he’s not a draftable prospect. He pulls his name before the deadline and transfers to a West Coast mid major, puts up decent numbers on his new team for two years, but still doesn’t get drafted. Bounces around D-league and Europe for 5-6 years and calls it quits.

Sounds about right, but I’m not sure the dad has enough self reflection or awareness to allow him to withdraw his name.

When I high fived Lavar after our CSUN game last year and told him Lonzo was a baller and he responded with "WE GON GET THEM HUNNEDS", that was the second I knew something was off. It was cool to get a year of excellent play from Lonzo, but the headache of hearing about Lavar all the time was getting to be a bit too much. Even today, our campus was full of news reporters and trucks trying to get the latest scoop on a kid who isn’t even here anymore. I never thought I’d see the day that a player ranked in the 200’s in his class would get so much attention, but I guess that’s to be expected when you come from the Kardashians 2.0.

Best possible scenario. They want to play on the same team. Dad has to go to “train” them. LaVar leaves the country. I enjoy life more.

The thing about Lavar and this whole method is he doesn’t care about getting them drafted. I honestly think he knows Gelo and Melo won’t be drafted, that’s why he’s handling them the way he is. He thinks he can train them so they can get get a tryout for the Lakers, and get in the team that way. He has stated multiple times that he wants all of them in the Lakers. What are the odds that the Lakers draft all the boys just so they can be together and fulfill the Lavar Ball Prophecy? Not happening.. He thinks outside the box and he thinks he can get his sons on the Lakers through different means than the draft.

There’s not anyone who can convince me these Clowns are serious about basketball. They’re serious about being famous, earning money and becoming reality TV stars.

In a society in which Who Got My 14-Year Old Daughter Pregnant and Honey Boo-Boo are actual things on TV making someone money, they will probably get plenty of attention and money to go with it for some time.

Kinda sad, but there’s a much bigger market for being loud, obnoxious and somewhat interesting than being mediocre or just plain awful at basketball.

I’ll double down on that. I’ve watched pick up games of Melo recently and his seriously skilled for his age. Just needs to understand the game better, shut out that dad, and he should do alright for himself. He’s already shows some aggressiveness that Lonzo just doesn’t have.

I disagree, I think Melo is a prospect and could get drafted. I agree about Gelo, he should play football.

LaMelo isn’t draft eligible until 2020.  He has plenty of time to prove he’s an NBA prospect.

He should take a year off, practice at home, and then resign somewhere else.

Gelo and Melo could go to the same team, I would look into Kentucky, Duke, and UNC.  I think those are big enough programs to not put up with the Ball Family BS.

Now, if Gelo is more of a football guy and wants to play BOTH sports, AND go to a solid team where Melo joins up with him, too, may I suggest USC?

Other than that, Gelo/Melo go to an Alabama team on the upswing with Coach Avery Johnson.  Collin Sexton is killing it there, so maybe that is a team to be reckoned with.  Then Gelo can play some football.

If I were those two kids, I would NOT go to a smaller program where the Ball family/brand runs roughshod all over an overmatched basketball coach/team.

The other two Ball brothers are about to be blackBALLED by the NBA and maybe even the NCAA if they don’t get their act together soon.  Too much of a headache to put up with…

Now, Oregon is a big time team now, and they signed Bol Bol (beating out Kentucky).  They have a YUGE deal with Nike… maybe Gelo/Melo go there…

Those kids are gonna quickly run out of options.

Melo is not a draft prospect. He has talent but he has no concept of team basketball. Him being taken out of school only exacerbates that. He needs to learn better shot selection, hownto play within the team, how to play some damn defense. Daddy Ball won’t teach him that at the level he needs to get drafted.

Gelo was never a draft prospect. Lavar knew that and even said it at one point. How else do you guys think his sons will all play for the Lakers, something he’s said MULTIPLE he will make happen.. he’s hoping he can get them ready enough to play good in summer league and possibly earn a roster spot. Idk what all the negs are for. Given the things Lavar has said, it’s the only thing that makes since IF YOU ACTUALLY THINK ABOUT IT.

Most kids Melo’s age aren’t serious draft prospects. He is still highly skilled player for a 16 year old and could possibly develop into a legitimate pro prospect with the right tutelage, although you’re right—the Dad is not helping. The holes you mention in his game are things a ton of young and talented players suffer from, but his skill is there.

Lavars master plan has many things that need to happen for it to work..

Liangelo either needs to go in the 2nd round or undrafted for this to happen. It would be solely to keep Lonzo happy and do him a solid if they did take him . Well unless somehow Gello’s game really improves this year as unfortunately his 1 mistake could essentially cost him his NBA career as it doesn’t exactly scream good character which will turn teams off him+ if lavar is really making the lakers angry it also ends his dream for the lakers,as they probably won’t buy what he is selling twice..Forcing him to end up playing overseas….

Lamello is a hard one to pick as he could as high as top 5 pick to as low as late lottery…He has reasonable shooting mechanics, height, range speed and good handles however the passing, defense and rebounding need work. So unless he some how forces a trade or only works out for the lakers who may have a low pick if he declares in 2019 somehow..It makes him either earn less than he should(due to lower pick) or not on the lakers if team won’t trade him(as they don’t have to). He would play SG if Lonzo is still there(you never know he could be moved by then) like Russell would have if he was still there.

As for their overseas dream: If they want to keep doing them China is realistic, as I’m sure at least 1 team would take a flier on them. Solely to bring in fans..

Europe/Russia I see no team giving them minutes/touches due to jealousy and stubborness-See Brandon jennings as what happens to highly touted prospects who goes to play and get forced to ride the pine…I also don’t see any team letting Lavar have his away there also

Australia NBL-See Terrance ferguson who went in first round got some ok minutes there..
