OhCanada-ParticipantFree Agency starts in 20 minutes. Should be a wild one. Decided to make a "general" thread for any official or unofficial signings, any rumours, reports, opinions, predictions and general offseason hooplah!

If Spurs don’t re-sign Diaw they look at McRoberts. Indiana look at Chalmers

OhCanada-ParticipantThose are both great fits but I expect Diaw to resign. He was a key contributor this year who won his first Championship. He probally wants to win another and I doubt he thinks he can win it anywhere else.

r377Participantrumour: vince carter – dallas are keen to bring him back. Blazers, Heat, OK and Raps all have interest in him.
Xavier Henry – Pacers are interested.
Greg Monroe – Hawks and Magic have interested. New Orleans have also been linked here on multiple occassions. Also read the blazers have interest in Monroe in a sign and trade (doesn’t really make sense to me with Aldridge and Lopez solid at 4 and 5)

OhCanada-ParticipantIm starting to actually worry a bit about Lowry. Now that I think about it Lowry did say during an interview saying he misses playing in Houston and wished he was still playing for Mchale. Ill try to find that video. Now theres reports Morey is meeting up with him in philly.

"I would have done things differently in Houston,” Lowry says. “I really respected Kevin McHale. I wish I would have had an opportunity to play for him longer. The things he was teaching me, well, I didn’t understand right away. When you get away from someone, though, see it from the outside looking in, you go back and think, ‘Damn, I could’ve learned some more things from the guy.’
“I wanted to stay with Coach Adelman and needed to get over that. [McHale] came in with a different philosophy, and I wish I could’ve adapted to it quicker

r377ParticipantLowry is a priority for the Rockets, who will first make a run at Carmelo Anthony (and LeBron James).
Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey has traveled to Philadelphia to meet with free agent guard Kyle Lowry tonight, league source tells Yahoo.
Luol Deng – Miami, Dallas LAC all keen.
Unrestricted free agent C.J. Miles will meet with the Pacers on Tuesday.
Multiple reports on Rashard Lewis and Spurs in talks.

doubledribblerParticipantHouston is in a unique spot. They only have 3 days to match any offer that Parson signs. If they are still waiting on Melo they won’t be able to tie up that kind of money.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantAnd I wouldn’t mind Avery Bradley at the Sg spot for a few years while we develop KJ or Jordan McRae, maybe even Tony Wroten???
I really want to snag Parsons though, he can open up the floor for MCW and Noel whilst we wait on Embiid to recover fully

BA30ParticipantSounds good in theory, but Philly is at least a year or 2 away from even making the playoffs. I don’t see Parsons even talking to them, much less signing an offer sheet.

HitsterParticipantCan someone clear up a quick cap space question?
A team can resign a free agent player if they are over cap but if they were under cap they could not sign another player to take them over cap and then resign original player – I think I’ve understood it right.
Chandler Parsons is an interesting one, the Rockets would surely have loved to have picked up his option but then have extended him on a nice deal for 2015/16 onwards.
If we assume that LeBron is staying in Miami then Melo will be the next key target for teams as FA tends to work from the top down. If a team has the $20 odd million available for a starting max deal and they were after both LeBron and Melo, it could have got very tricky if Melo had committed first then LeBron said he’d like to join up.
Kyle Lowry is an interesting FA, he’s coming off a very good season but is not a superstar PG but would be a very good PG on a contending team for the right sort of deal. Toronto have good cap space to resign him and can offer the best deal, Miami are sniffing but to fit him in with the big 3 means pay cuts for some of them, Houston are interested and both Dallas and Lakers need a long term PG so could be an option.
I wonder of Proud Grandpa could be a ROY contender on the Philly roster!

BA30ParticipantThe 12 Mil is about right for a borderline double double center that plays solid d. As you said, the 5 years is what is crazy to me. 3 plus a 4th year non-guaranteed would have made perfect sense.

BA30ParticipantThat would be a trade the Cavs likely have to make assuming there are no other assets of value exchanged. It doesn’t help their cap this year for signing FAs but is nice for the year after. I don’t really see it hurting the team’s chances for a playoff spot this year either.

OhCanada-ParticipantMarcus Thornton and Dion Waiters are similar players. Difference is after his limited role in Brooklyn I bet Thornton would happily play as a 3rd gaurd combo off the bench while Waiters would not. Could mean they trade Waiters for whatever assets they can get, trade Jack for Thornton and sign Hayward/Parsons.
0- Posted on: Tue, 07/01/2014 - 4:35pm #930822
BA30ParticipantYou are correct they are similar players but if the Cavs strike out on Parsons/Hayward having Waiters start and Thornton replace him off the bench is not the worst option. I don’t think bringing in Thornton means they trade Waiters at all, especially since Thornton can walk after this season.
