Leon Powe is almost done signing a deal with the cavaliers

this means the cavs add more depth in the low post area

Personally, i think he is a good fit for the cavs cuz he is a little bit underrated

I just signed on to post this, you beat me to it. Powe will be getting the league minimum for 2 years if the contract goes though, so it’s a no lose situation for Clevland because he is clearly a solid contributor. But he is not expected to be available next season until the all-star break at the earliest, so I would’nt really factor this signing into how the clevland season outlook is going.

He’s an athletic post up player who can finish did well in the playoffs 2 years ago can help off the bench if he’s healthy.
Still with Boston resigning Big Baby and possibly trading for Daniels they have to be the favorites in the East.

good fit. i dont think Varejou should get too many minutes hes more of an energy guy and this really helps their depth.

I really like Leon Powe’s game I wish that he did’nt sign with the cavs though. I think that he is going to be a solid contributer for them.

Leon Powe is a solid role player who’s very intelligent and consistent. He rebounds, he can score, he does all of the little things you need from a power forward, and he’s a coach’s dream. I don’t care what team he’s on, the only question for him will be the physical status of his knee. If he returns to normal health, Cleveland made a fantastic move. If he doesn’t, signing him was certainly worth the risk.

When some so called basketball experts on this site were comparing Tyler Hansbrough to Mark Madsen, I found that incredulous. Tyler Hansbrough has a talent level Madsen could never imagine, which made that comparison absurd. The two players I always cited as being similar to Hansbrough were Leon Powe and Louis Scola.

Seems to be a duplication – the Cavs need a 4 that can shoot and spread the floor – creating space for LBJ & Shaq.

As a Boston Celtics fan, I know a lot about Leon.

1. The guy may be one of the best offensive rebounders in the league.
2. He’s learned to use his length and although he is just 6’8″ he can guard many 7 footers.
3. Needs to work on shooting but he can get to the line a lot and put up big numbers with minutes.
4. He brings the kind of energy that a guy like Varejao brings minus the flops.

He’ll be a nice addittion IF he’s healthy. He’s had A LOT of knee injuries though.

Cleveland is crouding the post area, they don’t haven’t signed a big man who can spread the floor left. Look at who they’ve signed, Varejao, Shaq, and now Powe those guys are terriblel shooters and are going to croud the lane. That’s why big Z and Joe Smith were so succesful cuz when lebron drove they could step out and shoot. Now there’s no threat when those guys are on the court so the defending bigmen don’t have to worry about it and can stop lebron’s drive. Thats a huge problem that I see.

As much as I like Leon Powe [see my comments above], I think dwat4444 made a great point. Teams need balance and as part of that balance, they also need to keep the lane open and you do that with 3 point shooting. Look at Orlando, with Dwight Howard planted in the lane, they place an emphasis upon long range shooting to keep the defense honest.

His acl twice in that knee, and has had surgery on both knees in college. Powe is a beast when healthy coming off the bench. I hope he regains form even though he is playing for the Cavs who I hate.
