With an eye on drafting Arizona’s Derrick Williams, the Indiana Pacers have discussed a package including center Roy Hibbert and the 15th pick for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ second overall pick, league sources said. Nevertheless, the overture hasn’t gained traction in Minnesota. …

What else could Indiana include in an offer to Minnesota to make the deal work?

Derrick Williams is a dominate talent, and in my opinion should be the #1 overall pick, but what good would it do if the Pacers drafted him?  He is more suited (In My Opinion) to play the Small Forward position, because he has a good all-around game.  He’s a little undersized to play the 4 (size wise), and the Pacers already have Danny Granger and Paul George.  I don’t understand what the Pacer’s plan to accomplish if this trade goes down.

That would still leave a hole at the center spot for Indiana.

I don’t see why Indiana would want Derrick Williams either, especially at the cost of Hibbert, who has made improvements every season and is yet to peak. Not really understanding this at all…

Yeah I agree. Hansbrough took a step forward during their first round series against Chicago and I like his chances of improvement in the future. If I’m Indiana, I’m probably targeting a shooting gaurd to play alongside Collison in the backcourt. Their frontcourt is pretty solid as it is with Granger/Hansbrough/Hibbert.

Because Williams is a possible star and Hibbert is a career good role player who would be under control for cheaper, longer, and there are at least three good young centers in free agency.

The Pacers would have to play Williams at 4 and then they lose their C but the T-Wolves could throw in Darko or Pekovic and with their cap space the Pacers could target a Nene, Dalambert etc. But deal isn’t great for either team.
