    Rephrasing the question:

Should a proven starting PG lose his spot to a troubled player who hasn’t proved he can play in the NBA let alone be a starting PG for a playoff team?

I don’t get this question at really…Lance is an overrated Head case…And longterm I don’t Darren Collison staying in Indiana…I can see him going back West when he becomes a Free Agent…And the home grown George Hill will likely be the Pg of the future barring them making some WOW trade for another Pg or getting one in the Draft (Dont count out the Pacers drafting one this Year…)

I don’t find a problem with the question.

Despite his off of the court issues, Larry Bird is VERY high on Lance Stephenson. He’s called Stephenson the most talented player on the team. The coaching staff is high on him too. He’s been in Indianapolis working hard all summer. His teammates are impressed with him as well.

He’s very similar to Tyreke Evans being that he’s just very good with the ball in his hands. He has size that Darren Collison doesn’t have. Stephenson is very dynamic off of the dribble, which is something the Pacers have lacked. While not being a point guard, he does have good vision.

I think the biggest improvement he needs to make is on defense. He was a terrible off of the ball defender last season and didn’t defend on the ball well either. He has to become a better team defender if he wants to get in the rotation and stay there. Collison and George Hill will see the bulk of the minutes in the backcourt.

I think it would be a mistake for Stephenson to play the PG; he needs to stick with his scoring instincts and play to his strengths. I think Collison is the ideal starter at the point, but Hill is certainly capable of doing just as good a job.

I do feel like Stephenson is a bit of a ticking time-bomb though, the longer to lockout goes on the more I expect to see him getting into trouble. Hopefully he keeps his nose clean and solidifies himself as part of the Pacers’ future.

He has good mentors in Indianapolis and he’s gotten comfortable here. I’ve met him a handfull of times since he’s been here and most recently, he seemed to have slowed down and mature a little. He seemed like he had some stability in his life… But you can definitely tell he’s not working with a full deck though lol. He’s the unpredictable type of dude. You just never really know what he’s going to do.

The thing I don’t get is, if he is your most talented player on the team, you would keep him on the court whether he was a rookie or not. That is bogus to keep him off the court, especially if Bird & the staff are putting him on a high-horse.

    this makes no sense…

you are comparing a well established point guard to a guy who cant even get off the bench? yes, lance has potential but hes a headcase who has to compete with george hill and collison….AINT HAPPENING BRUH

    @memphis tyga23

He got in trouble last year, remember? He was being disciplined.

He also struggled with immaturity last season. His talent isn’t the problem. He just needs to grow up. The Pacers are trying to make him earn it.

Personally, I love the way Bird, the coaching staff and the Pacers have handled him. Stephenson has become more open to positive criticism. He’s become a better teammate. He’s matured. He’s working hard.

I am aware of him being in the dog house, this past season. He did get burn though towards the end of the season & then all of a sudden he was glued back to the pine before the playoffs.

He was supposed to get some playing time during the playoffs when Collison hurt his ankle, but he got in trouble again. There was some incident that happened with him, Danny Granger and Dahntay Jones.

He struggled with immaturity last season… Couldn’t take positive criticism. Wasn’t really a good teammate.

I am aware of that as well….Like I’ve stated
