knicksfan7ParticipantLet’s see how it plays out when it’s all said and done. In society while domestic violence is frowned upon we are a society of second chances. I know Lance has made mistakes, and I thought everything was past him, but if he takes the right course of action and handles it like a real person he will come out of this as both a better PERSON and player. I wish nothing but the best for Lance, and hope to see him on the court.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantKnowing Lance, he’s deeply sorry for all this going down.
That being said, he did one thing and all of a sudden he’s banned? I think that’s unfair. So what if he did things in High School? He didn’t do anything in Cincy and now he lost his starting role and most likely will be waived?
I hope he is waived because he will be picked up ( Indy knows this) and someone will be getting a steal in him.

knicksfan7ParticipantI don’t think it’s unfair at all. He is still training with assistants just away from teammates. It is probably better for him to not have to explain everything to his teammates, and instead let the legal process play out. The things he did in High School weren’t seen as a big deal only b/c he was still a child, not even 18, and seen as immaturity. There is no more immaturity he should be matured, he’s now a man, as well as a professional. He is lucky he hasn’t been waived because the average person would have been fired for something far less worse than what Lance has done. If anything, Lance should consider himself blessed.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantSo there banning him so he doesn’t have to explain himself to teammates? That doesn’t make any sense to me. What does that help or hurt? Also, he’s lucky he wasn’t waived for domestic violence to his girlfriend yet Delonte West had a gun in a guitar case and he still played last season. In the end, it’s up to the organization but: It’s a little over blown to me.
Indiana banning him from the arena wasn’t necessary. The Pacers needed to take action but I would have suspended him a game or two rather then banning him from the arena. Also, looking at that makes me think he will be cut. Should he be? No.

knicksfan7ParticipantIf Lance was anything but a professional athlete or entertainer he would likely be in jail, I consider him lucky. Keeping him away from his teammates makes a lot of sense during the legal process considering that this is a confidential issue that his teammates do not need to know about, or make unfair assumptions about him. I don’t think the ban will be long either way. Either he will be waived or will stay on the team, but have to gain the respect of his teammates in order to play. Indiana knows if they waive him a team will pick him up, but the Pacers organization is more concerned with there image, which I agree with. I believe team image is important because your team usually represents a lot more than just the sport. I do not believe Lance will be released, but I believe he will serve a lengthy suspension by the Pacers before he can start playing. IMO, the Pacers organization is handling this wonderfully.

Lotto StudParticipantIt’s not necessarily just NY players getting in trouble…..My hometown in the Tidewater “757” VA area we have our share…… Iverson, Marucs/Mike Vick, Bruce Smith, Lawrence Taylor, Plaxico Burress just to name a few.

I agree w/ everything you posted. Based on what I’ve been hearing and just the feel of things, I’m starting to doubt that Stephenson will be waived.
The coaches were raving about him before the incident in NY happened. Everyone knew he was talented, but there was a lot being said about how hard working, coachable and great of a teammate he was. Bird was so impressed that he signed him to a guaranteed deal.
I think Bird wants to help him, plus he realizes he has a talent. He’ll be banned until the legal process plays out and probably suspended until certain guidelines are met. He’ll have to complete his counseling, classes, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did things around the community as well.
He’ll have to walk a straight line after this though… He’ll be on thin ice.

I appreciate it.
Personally I tip my hat off to Larry Bird and the Pacers organization in how they are handling this is an amazing job. They want Lance to overcome this, even though they are embarrassed and disappointed in Lance’s actions. I hope Lance becomes a better person out of this, I think his superstar status always let him get away with his actions, but now he is really a nothing making his way into the NBA. Now it will take a lot of counseling, classes, maybe even medication. I won’t be shocked if he has to see a therapist for the rest of his life whatever it takes to make him more calm and a better person. He grew up in a world that is very masculine where he was probably never able to express his feelings, and has a lot of pent up anger. I really really hope he gets everything right because I want to see him play in the NBA and show the world how great of a player he is, I really do, and to tell people if he can overcome things, others can too.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantYea… it sounds like a big misunderstanding how she was pushed down a flight of stairs and her headed lifted up by Stephenson and slammed back down on the bottom step. The whole story “cries” of a guy deserving another chance.
It’s inevitable… another NBA casualty.

MagikKnickParticipantLance Stephenson is just an idiot. Your in the NBA, Your only job is staying out of trouble, and he can’t even do that. I’ve always rooted for Lance, and i’m still rooting for him to get his act together. I was hopind he’d get drafted by New York, but hell, if he stayed here, he’d probably have been looking at a life sentence by now…
I feel bad for Larry Bird, trying to clean the Pacers name after the brawl, played it safe in the draft for the last, like 6 years, finally decides to take a risk, and he ends up with this “knucklehead”
All in all, im rooting for Lance to get his ish together, David Kahn should be on line 1 by now…

NarcParticipantYou say that like staying out of trouble is easy in today’s society.
Anyway, yes I do agree with the banning from the team as of right now. He has a history of trouble and its not looking good for him right now as it looks like he is building a nice little track record. I certainly hope he gets his act together as he has way too much talent to squander it by landing himself in trouble with the law all the time.
