Lance Stephenson aka born ready

What is the consensus on this guy? From what I can gather, he hasn't got a ton better since his freshman year and is a case of a really developed kid when he was younger getting a swolen ego and getting an attitude. He has been said to be a likely one and done, but his size, lack of vertical explosiveness, and reliable 3 ball, dont make him seem like a sure thing first rounder to me, especially after just 1 year. Im not sure either Maryland or St. Johns are the places to play your way into the first round either. My opinion is that he has good potential but alot of the red flags to point to kids who wont pan out. I havent seen too much of him though what do other people think?

Overrated. Extremely

Overrated. Extremely overrated. He is not explosive at all. He's strong and can bully smaller guards but you can't do that at the next level. I watched him in a game against St. Benedicts, I bellieve (it was against Dexter Strickland's team). He missed some shots early and started settling for jump shots and really took himself with is body language. I think he'll be a good player if he can ever develop a jumper. I think that key to his game will be getting a back to the basket game. He's got the physical strength to do that and dominate smaller guards. Overall he just needs to be more disciplined with his game. I would say he was born ready, but he hasn't developed much since then.

how did Strickland look?

he is a kid i dont think enough people are talking about. Explosive athlete, comming to play for Roy. He will be a first rounder, mark it down. I think the kid has the potential to be a more athletic Heinriech combo for Roy.

Strickland is good, but his

Strickland is good, but his style of play is more of a 2 guard, and his body is more of a PG. Stephenson I think is the most underrated player in the country. I think he is the best player, he just doesn't try hard cause all he wants to do is play in the NBA. Once he gets there, I think he'll concentrate, and once he does that, there is no stopping him.

Stephenson is insanely

Stephenson is insanely talented, but my gosh I don't want him playing for my team. He is selfish, greedy, whiney, pouty and a cancer. When he makes a mistake he yells at the refs or his teammates, when his teammates make mistakes he LIGHTS up his teammates. He doesn't play a lick of defense. Good luck to whoever tries to coach him they have a real task on their hands.

Idk

I like his talent level, he reminds me of Paul Pierce. Strong 2 guard/small forwards that can get to the rim and even though they arent explosive leapers, they have more than enough athletic ability to get there shots off, finish at the rim and create offense for themselves. Just watch how much Stephenson will get to the line in college. True true, he isnt a good defender, but he is when he wants to be. The same is always said about Pierce too. He is a top 3 pure talent in this class (I like Wall, Stephenson and Wally Judge as the 3 most talented) with the big men Favors, Cousins, Sidney, and Gallon having strong arguments.

I hadn't seen him play much

I hadn't seen him play much until the HS all american game. Being from NY, I was excited to see what he could do. His play in the 1st half wasn't that impressive, but he actually showed a very high bball IQ in crunch time. He made at least 3 key plays in a row, including the assist to win the game. Looking fwd to seeing what he does in college.

I like the Paul Pierce

I like the Paul Pierce comparison. Thing is though, Stephenson's head IMHO is not on straight. Kid makes Rasheed Wallace look classy on the court. He is insanely selfish. From a pure talent standpoint, he may be the most college ready out of all the incoming freshman, but man he needs an attitude adjustment in the worst way.

My Take

Lance Stephenson is a cross between Paul Pierce & Bonzi Wells, two both are strong shooting guards/small forwards, who both uses great court savvy, craftiness, and understands angles to make up for a lack of explosiveness and athletecism.

I think

When I look at the kid I think of Ron Artest....he has that big strong frame and average athleticism. With that said I would be AMAZED if he ever made it on an NBA roster. IMHO he will have to do a complete 180 with his attitude and demeanor before any NBA team throws that kid a few million dollars, and I just think that's unlikley because its obvious he is going to be a one and done guy and I doubt he takes his one year in college to learn humility and how to be a good teammate. Its more likely he puts a ton of shots and tries to get his numbers up.

that's why I would love for

that's why I would love for him to go to Maryland or Kentucky, both great coaches that aren't afraid to sit you, and they'll help him develop.

St. John's would be the worst place for him to go.

Born Selfish lol

"Born Selfish" Is extremely talented no doubt, But when i watch him play i see a guy who would rather score 50 points then win tha game, the guy has talent but also he needs 2 get in2 better shape. But tha Paul Pierce comparison is rite on. Not the most athletic guy but extremely skilled and crafty. Lance has all the tools but in the end his attitude an ego may be his downfall.

he had to shot alot, other

he had to shot alot, other than David Padgett, his team wasn't very good.
He new his teammates weren't very good and thats why he shot so much, cause it was their best chance at winning the game.

shot alot

the thing is he shot alot reguardless where he played..lebrons team wasnt that good and he took shots but he also would pass when he wasnt open...with lance he could be getting triple teammed sometimes and have a guy wide open and still would take a bad shot...hes a good player with very good potential but he needs to become more unselfish and mature from that me first attitude
