What’s up users. I grew up with Lamar Patterson. We hooped together since middle school to my Jr. year of high school. (2002- 2007) He was always a natural with the ball, and he always exuded confidence. The game came easy to him as he was bred to be an athlete. His brother Perry Patterson was a high level recruit in both basketball and football (he started at quarterback for Syracuse on/off for 3 years) some argue that basketball was Perry’s best sport. (he gave up football and now plays basketball overseas) Sorry to digress.

Back to Lamar he was always a playmaker and big shot taker that lacked foot speed and athleticism. His cerebral game has always been there. It’s been documented about him transferring from McCaskey to St. Benedicts prep or his senior year to prepare him for Pitt.

As his game grew and he lost baby fat you could see that he began to win over his coach with the grey bees and as he got into shape he moved into the starting lineup. I’ve seen Lamar grow leaps and bounds.

Now at Pitt his career began with great promise as he competed with more athletic wing players for playing time as a true freshmen because of his playmaking and shot making. He injured his ankle and redshirted. (similar to players of Pitt’s past) A lot of his peers from back home were down on him and expected him to fail. I for one didn’t I knew that Jaime Dixon believed in him and I know that University of Pittsburgh players improve by leaps and bound during their stays at the university. (Ronald Ramon, Gilbert Brown, SAM YOUNG, Nasir Robinson just to name a few)

Now a senior leader who has graduated and spent the extra time in the gym, I believe he has played himself into second round contention in this upcoming draft. His increased each of his first four seasons along with his minutes. His shots were fairly the same the last two years, but he could always fill the stat sheet. I remember a few near Triple doubles against Tennessee I believe hi Rs SO year, Cincinnati Last year, and I can’t remember the team this year but he his flat out balling. He’s increased his ppg from 10 and change to 17+ with nearly 5 apg and 5 rpg. His footwork has improved along with his athleticism because he has gotten into such good shape. Say what you want about athleticism but  He bring the intangibles you look for from a wing. I personally think he can play himself into a Late 1st/Early 2nd Rounder if he maintains his play and leads Pitt to let’s say the Elite Eight.

What do you guys think about my good friends game? Do you think he can play inn the NBA or is he a really good Euro league player. I look forward to your comments. Be constructive and objective.

ps. Sorry for the long read I just wanted to provide some good insight

Not sure what his wingspan is, but if it measures out long enough that he can handle SFs, I think he has a chance to be this year’s Draymond Green (meaning, a guy that I thought had no chance of keeping up with NBA players athletically despite being pretty skilled, and somehow found a way).
