That DAMN Miami introduction for the Wade, Lebron and Bosh made me miss most of the 3rd quarter! Here’s what I saw though

    Lakers:

Devin Ebanks- REALLY impressive game. Looked better offensively than I would’ve ever imagined. Passed the ball well, like he usually does. Slashed to the rim and showed better handles than he I’m used to seeing. Finished and used his length well around the rim. Flashed a nice shooting stroke. Played only decent D on Austin Daye and Summers, has potential on D but wasn’t the wiz he usually is. Still can improve at every aspect of the game, but this was a very good debut. Trevor Ariza type player potentially.

Derrick Caracter- Impressive game too and has lost weight. Offensively, looked good. Finished well, showed the sweet feet he’s known for and showed very good hands. A poor defender though, foul prone, and can be shot over by tall defenders (Greg Monroe). Rebounded well. Impressive game for a guy that has the talent, but still had something to prove.

Gerald Green- Wow. He looked out of place on both ends. He has to show more fire and smarts. This game was a dud for him.

D.J. Strawberry- Had a decent game. Played his usually sound D (although not quite as tenacious as usual). Scored some and actually made a jumpshot (!). Played some PG, but showed shaky ball-handling and was a little wild. Can slash to the rim a little and is a good athlete, but he’s not very talented offensively.

    Detroit

Greg Monroe- Played like it was his 1st game as a pro. Rushed and forced plays, looked selfish, and wasn’t comfortable. Usually an elite passer, but he looked only decent and didn’t even look to pass much. Has a soft touch down low and decent feet. Played OK D and rebounded his area, but not like he needed to. He played C, and he clearly is better from the high post than down low. That played a role in how he looked. Still needs to refine his low post skills. Should start immediately of course though.

Terrico White- Solid debut. Played PG and didn’t look that bad, but still is clearly a SG. Nice slashing ability and has a nice shot. Not much passing ability, and plays better when he can dribble the ball a lot. OK D. Nice athleticism and speed. He should play next year, he has nice talent and can definitely score in bunches.

Austin Daye- He showed a high talent level like always. Can play 4 positions and has nice size and length. Showed that shooting touch and can handle the ball too. Smooth athlete with amazing footwork. Has a post game too, but he has to get the ball quick and make a quick move because he’s too weak to hold position for long. Below average defender because he lacks strength and toughness. Talented offensively and could be a starter next season depending on what happens with Prince.

Jonas Jerebko- Still a bull around that basket. Had a decent game. Can play facing up or with his back to the basket. Has decent speed and athleticism. Tough as nails and very strong. Nose for the ball. Nice role-player potential, and looks likely to build on his success from last year.

DaJuan Summers- Shot the ball well and finished strong at the rim. Still not a very good ball-handler and struggles creating his own shots. The guy has a good shot and an NBA body, so he has the ability to play in the NBA. He just has to defend.

Mac Koshwal- Played and rebounded. If he makes a roster, it will be as a 6-foul goon. Has no offensive game

They should let Josh Powell go instead of Mbenga. Both should make the roster though, and Ebanks probably should see some PT

I agree except date playing 4 positions to weak to play 4 or 5. And suspect d. Doesn’t have the court vision for the 1

so Detroit opening roster barring free agency and trades

    Stuckey – White
    Rip – Gordon
    Prince – Daye – Summers
    Jerebko – Charlie V – Maxiell
    Monroe – Maxiell – Wilcox

Yeacbut that doesn’t mean he can play pf or pg. It takes more then that to be able to play 4 positons. He can do alot of things but that’s different then being able to actually play the position. He would ge killed in the regular season if he was put at he pg or pf. Against NBA pg and pf

Yeah he wouldn’t see much time doing that in actual games..Just good to see him show the ability to do it though. Shows that he actually is capable of doing those things on the court.

    Yea tru. He is versitile

On the laker note. Ebanks looked very good. And caracter was on guardable. Strong can score on the block with either hand. Jumper and has sleepy bounce. If I’m
Luke Walton and Josh Powell I’m worried

Lol, both of them at the very least will have a cut in PT. Ebanks is ready to see limited minutes right now from what I saw, and Caracter might be able to play if he is in shape and makes more effort on D. Ebanks looks like a great fit for the triangle, especially down the line (if they keep the offense post-Phil Jackson).

I thought he struggled, and fouls were the because he’s limited in some areas. Alot of his fouls were because he lacked the foot speed to defend his man when they faced up. It because real evident at the end of the game too. Jerebko faced him up and drew fouls on 2 straight possessions in the last 3 or 4 mins or so.
