fowlkes24Participantmitch kupchak is doing a great job. brown is more of an awnser to the pg position than farmar. he brings some much needed athletic ability to the backcourt of oldheads. fisher and kobe

j1232eParticipantor Farmarr capable starting for at least 25-30 games this next season, or will lakers make a big midseason trade to fill in for fisher when he goes down with injury or to old and slow to keep up.

fowlkes24Participantthats a good question

Stanford hoopsParticipantim just not sure farmar can be a full time starter yet..but i would be happy with a farmar brown line up after fisher retires..with the other players the lakers have it works

knicksfreakParticipantBrown has tremendous talent and answered alot of questions last year about his ability to run the point. He is a very underrated answer/heir for when Fisher retires.

j1232eParticipantThe lakers were to sign andre miller. bring in fisher of the bench, trade farmarr for a future pick.

llperezI think the Lakers will give Farmar and Brown both an opportunity to start taking more of Fishers minutes this year. I actually like both guys especially since I doubt the Lakers will be able to spend much money on a top notch pg. Farmar played very well last season and this year before the injury. He also played well in helping lead the Lakers to victory in the game where Fisher was suspended against the Rockets in the playoffs.

knicksfreakParticipantNot sure if I like that. Miller is a great distributor but Kobe and Odom bring the ball up alot. Miller’s greatest asset woul be limited.

Stanford hoopsParticipantthe thing about the laker offense/system that needs to be addressed though is it makes players who didnt do much at other players thrive when they come there but not look so good once they go to another place

fowlkes24Participantmiller isn’t the awnser the triangle only works with a shooter at the point. thats why fisher has been so successful.
brown and farmar have the ability to knock down the open 30 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 4:16pm #177448
Stanford hoopsParticipantthe triangle works with shooter or nonshooter because of the movements…ron harper wasnt a good shooter but was perfect for the triangle because he grasped it..the triangle hides alot of youre weaknesses and amplifys youre strengths

llperezwas that the block where he chased him down from behind and almost hit his head on the backboard but they called a foul? If so, that was one of the sickest almost blocks I have ever seen.
I still don’t think it is necessary for the Lakers to give up on Farmar just because they have Brown. I say let them battle it out and winner starts while the other is the backup. Personally, I like Farmar a little more.

Stanford hoopsParticipantyea thats tru vertical doesnt mean you are athletic but i wouldnt go so far as to say farmer isnt athletic…how u figure that?..before trading farmer i think ill wait to see what brown can do for awhole season..i recall smush parker looking very good at one point also..cant be too quick to trade solid players away because another player who hasnt done much before, have a good playoffs…im sure we have all seen that happen before then the next year the player doesnt do the same..actually theres a player by the name of sasha whos a perfect case

J-CHRISTOSParticipantSmush Parker man dissapointed me, especially when he was talking greasy about Kobe, but with Farmar honestly how much of an upside do yo think he has

J-CHRISTOSParticipantYes, thank you, Shannon Brown never had a chance to flourish with the teams he was with,I think the Lakers should trade Farmar and stick with Brown.Shannon Brown is a super duper athlete who was actually drafted higher than Farmar(By one pick)even though Farmar vertical is 43 inches he’s not that athletic,Brown has the size to defend both guard position,by did anyone see his block on Mario West

llperezhe is aggressive offensively and can create his own shot a lot better then Brown. I also think he is a better spot up shooter. Brown is a little better defensively and probably won’t make as many mistakes. But if you give Farmar some consistent minutes where he can get comfortable and not have to worry about getting benched after a few mistakes, I think he has very good chance of being a solid starter.

Stanford hoopsParticipanti dont think he has alot of upside..but hes a proven back up part time starter..i need more evidence of shannon brown before commiting to him like that dont wanna get burned like with sasha after a good playoffs…if he does the same or more for this whole season then maybe..actually probably not..whats wrong with keeping him and farmar..fisher is on his way to retirement in the not to distant future

J-CHRISTOSParticipantI see Shannon possibly( I stress possibly) could turn it around like Billups did, before Billups got to Detroit he was a journey man and was considered a bust, until he turned it around,Shannon won’t turn it around to the same extend Billups did,but I definitly think he has found a home with the Lakers

llperezThis is Fishers last year on his contract and I doubt he plays after it’s up. I also don’t think Yue is exactly looking like the long term future, so keep them both and let them fight for the starting spot. Also, Brown can always get some minutes at the 2 if Vujacic sucks again.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipanti like the idea of keeping farmar and brown ..farmaer has shown to be consistant and even pretty good when given the minutes..they would make a good future one 2 punch with in some instances playing together

sheltwon3ParticipantFarmar has quality skills but he is not a good fit for the Lakers now that they have upgraded their talent. He is only good off the bench for his scoring and with Fisher getting old, we need someone that can be groomed as a starter and Farmar is not the answer. Brown can be because of his defense and he is a decent scorer. I think he can show his skills like Ariza did. Will Artest and Kobe both being good passers and also Gasol and Odom and even Bynum is a decent passer you want a good defender who is atheletic enough to finish off of cuts or get to the line and Brown can do that and he will improve his perimeter game aike Ariza did. Smush Parker defense was good and he could slash but he started regressing and did not want to push himself, Brown is hungry and will do that. Farmar may be one of the guys who has issues with Kobe that is being rumored about.

Stanford hoopsParticipanti think ill wait and see what brown does for awhole year not just the playoffs…ya’ll jumping the gun a lil too early like the lakers did with sasha and smush..if brown continues to grow this year and playoffs then we can start having talks of him becomming a starter

Knicksboy34ParticipantShannon Brown is a good addition but if they sign Odom back…they should go with a
Brown-Yue-Morrison-Odom and Powell off the bench

Stanford hoopsParticipantthat makes no sense..yue hasnt shown he can oplay int he leauge yet morrison was injured and when he wasnt he wasnt that good…powell is a shooting pf and cant check centers..centers also wear odom out..the back up five will pretty much be the same..brown and farmar..sasha luke walton odom and gasol will stay out or bynum..powell will play a lil as usual prob less now that ron is here and can fill in at the pf..personally i hope that yue and morrison play liek everyone hoped they could be before they were drafted but so far there isnt any eveidence or reports of that happening
