Well now that we know where everybody is picking (fucking Cavs).  What do you think the Lakers do with players that might be there give or take a few spots.. My list goes like this in no particular order.

    Smart

    Vonleh

    Randle

    Lavine

    Stauskas

    Gordon

There is a good chance two of those guys won’t be there but that is just a general outline.

Smart- I really like Smart, but for someone else. I see him having trouble coexisting with Kobe.
Vonleh- I feel like they need more immediate offense than him, he’s a long term guy.
Randle- get him if you can. I doubt he’s there at 7.
Lavine- might be a reach, but injecting some energy sounds brilliant. He’ll benefit from NBA spacing.
Staukus- They have enough 3-ball guards.
Gordon- they probably need more offense, but he can be a game changer.

I’d say they draft Randle or Smart if possible.  If those two aren’t available you trade the pick and try to get 2 mid first rounders instead, unless Vonleh really impresses them in workouts.  I may just be a naive Lakers fan, but I believe they should try to pick players that not only have potential, but also can contribute right now.  They don’t have a first round pick next year so they might as well try to improve as much as they can now and see what they can get out of Kobe’s final years.  I say they draft Smart or Randle if possible, and then make a run at Melo and Monroe.  Assuming Kobe can still put up about 18-20 ppg (although he may be washed up), a lineup of Smart, Kobe, Melo, and Monroe or Kobe, Melo, Monroe and Randle could actually make some noise.  I don’t think they’re are getting Love so why not try to win now and also plan for future with Monroe.  Even if Kobe turns out to be over the hill, and retires in 2 years, you still have a young Monroe and Randle/ Smart as well as a 32 year old Melo (who should age gracefully given his style of play) to build around.  Like I said earlier, they have no first rounder next year so tanking would be pretty stupid in my mind.  They might as well see how good you can get with the free agents available.  What do you guys think?
