according to espn, some nba franchises are pushing to re-make the "paul to LA" trade…. not a joke. Stern is losing control, but my point is :

do the lakers need now to do the deal whereas d12 seems no longer available (he should ask his trade to the nets today) and finally end with bynum only in the paint ?

maybe keep the same roster and add billups as their pg would be a best solution ?

I’m not sure that the CP3 really makes the Lakers that much better. Pau often plays like one of best PFs in league. Odom can do everything on the court (shoot, pass, postup, defend, etc.) and he rebounds at an elite level on a per minute basis. CP3 and Kobe both need the ball to make the most impact on their respective teams. So the lakers would have some duplication in their backcourt. Of course the guys can play well together, but can they both be top ten guys in the league together? And Bynum is a good center with upside. But he also has those bad knees (and you know they just look bad as well). If Bynum gets hurt (which he does almost every year), then the Lakers have no front court. They will have no money to sign anyone as well. A Paul has knee issues as well. They removed cartildge in that surgery awhile back. He could head down the BRoy path and have degenerative knees in a few years. So little of the commentary I’ve seen has really actually looked at what this means from a basketball playing perspective and in terms of forming a basketball team.

Lakers may be thanking the league office for killing this trade down the road. Though I think the backlash against the league office for killing this trade might make Stern and his guys reconsider and eventually allow this. Some Owners may be complaining but NO got two legit players out of this deal and a pick. They will be much worse off if CP3 just drops them at end of season for nothing and they might be worse off with whatever other trade they try to do later (keeping in mind that CP3 can kill pretty much any trade by telling new team that he won’t sign an extension).

I’m a Laker fan to the core so I know Kobe hasn’t played wit a PG like a CP3 so I no ppl are thinking they can’t work together bcuz both need the ball which I can understand ppls worries. This is the reason why it would work bcuz now your moving the Kobe back into a str8 scorer/playmaker instead of what his role had to be past couple season as a playmaker who needed to get his team involve (not saying Kobe didn’t go out and score but ppl said he needed to let his team touch the rock to help him). Now you add Cp3 and as we seen last years playoffs he has the ability to make bums (Aaron gray) look good. Cp3 would control the team n make the plays to keep other teammates happy while Kobe gets to be a str8 scorer and closer. So Yes losing pau would change us but cp3 has that Steve Nash ability where they make avg players look like all-stars.

I think people forget how the Lakers would save a lot of money and also could be in the free agent sweepstakes next year and pick up a solid power forward that is more likely younger.   Paul is 26 Bynum is like 23 or 24 (i forget).

They get another young big.  Even with Kobe being older, he takes care of his body enough to give them 3 more star years especially if he does not have to work as hard.  People forget that CP3 has done well with little talent.  Can you imagine what he could do with two solid young big men and Kobe.

They also picked up Kapono who is a dead 3 point shooter.  They have a young quality small forward behind Metta World Peace.  The Lakers would get young and save a ton of money with this deal.  This deal would keep Lakers competitive even when Kobe gets too old.

I think people forget when Chandler was hurt all the time, if Bynum stay healthy, he can provide more than that Chandler provides.  I remember how Paul made Chandler look like a 2nd option on offense.  Bynum can actually score unlike Chandler who needs to rely more on his point guard.

    This deal needs to happen.

    I really detest Dan Gilbert.

He and MJ should never have bought teams.
