Da1potParticipantThis is a trade rumor I saw reported via Twitter from Ballislife.com…. Very interesting, but I don’t know if it is worth it for Minnesota- despite Rubio and Gasol wanting to play together. I apoligize if this has already been posted….
Rumor: Lakers get Beasly, Barrea & Dwight Howard. Orlando gets Bynum & Derrick Williams. Minny gets Gasol. Sounds fair but unlikely

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI would rather see Bynum to Minny and Gasol to Orlando.

ChewyParticipantThis would be an amazing trade for the Lakers that gives them the most dominating center and other scorers to go with Kobe. Can Minny get enough support around Love, Gasol and a young Rubio before Gasol gets too old? Orlando is getting more than what they will get when D12 walks for free at the end of the year.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI don’t get why Minny is going so hard after Gasol. They have zero need at the PF/C position. Pek and Love are the future of that team. Gasol is getting older, and he’s not worth getting rid of D-Will, Beasley, and Barea (even though his contract would be amazing to get rid of). Why in the hell aren’t the Wolves going after SG’s?!

F_DA_POParticipantI don’t like this trade for Minny. It really looks like that Pecovic guy is stepping up. They need to go in a younger direction than Gasol. It’s not a bad trade though.

Chilbert arenasParticipantWolves don’t need Gasol that bad if they have to give up both Beasley and DWill

HarbingerThis would be a good trade for all teams but in the future will minn want gasol with his age and contract? He will make the most money on the team money I thought would be reserved for love or rubio. But With khan who knows…

river09ParticipantYeah no kidding why would the wolves pursue any big men right now? They have pek and love and great depth with williams, beasley, darko (who doesn’t deserve PT) and randolph. I can see them dealing one of those backups, but giving up Derrick Williams, Beasley and Barea just for Gasol makes no sense. Barea and Beasley sure, I can understand that. But honestly the only player I’d be interested in out of the lakers or orlando if I was in charge of the wolves would be Jason Richardson… They desperately need a SG. If they get a passable excuse for one, I can see them making a minny mark (pun) on the playoffs this year. Without one they are just another team hovering around .500.

FearTheStacheParticipantI think that Orlando would have to give JJ reddick to Minny to fill their SG void, but otherwise, that sounds like a pretty good all around trade

river09Participantwhat about jason richardson…?

FastAndFuriousParticipantMan if this trade goes through, I hope Charles,Kenny,Chris and Ernie GRILL Shaq ass about LA trading Bynum for Dwight.
Lol Shaq would be soooooooooo salty.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantand I think David Kaun would be shot if he pulled the trigger on this deal, this only benefits The Lakers and Magic(who will only really get Williams out of the deal, Bynum will be gone in 2 years) The Lakers get The Best C in The NBA, while adding an offensive minded Lamar Odom replacement in Beasley and a Very Good Shooter/Pick and Roll Pg in Barea…The Magic get a 2 year rental of Andrew Bynum and the 2nd overall pick from the last draft Derrick Williams, the Wolves give up 2 great young assets and a 6th man type for Pau Gasol
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/28/2012 - 11:16am #642142
mds0549ParticipantWhat do the wolves get out of that? They are getting decent scoring out of Pek and Gasol would only take away from Love. They give up Barea which makes their thin back court even thinner leaving them only Rubio and Ridnour…Wes Johnson sucks and should have been sent to the D league a long time ago. I don’t like the deal at all

Ghost01ParticipantThe problem I see with this is if the Wolves do this, they have 3 solid players at the 4 and 5, and none at the 2 and 3. Wes Johnson, Martell Webster, and Wayne Ellington would now all play major minutes. Why dont they try to make Pekovic the other chip going to Orlando instead of D Williams?

Memphis MadnessParticipantWhy doesn’t Minny make an offer on Dwight Howard (contingent on a sign and trade?) Pekovic, Beasley, Randolph, Luke Ridnour, and first round picks for Dwight Howard?
The Magic get a scoring foward in Beasley, a young beast at center, a solid point guard in Luke Ridnour and some draft picks to go along with Anthony Randolph’s potential.
But really I want to see this team:
PG: Ricky Rubio
SG: Wes Johnson (ok, maybe not this guy as much)
SF: Derrick Williams
PF: Kevin Love
C: Dwight Howard
Bench:
PG: JJ Barea
SG: Wayne Ellington
SF: D League call up (umm, Gerald Green?)
PF: Anthony Tolliver
C: Darko Millic
That would give the T Wolves the best young front line in the league with the two best rebounders in the game led by a brilliant pass-first point guard with some solid depth off the bench at guard and at center.
I am not sure why Dwight Howard HAS to end up on the LA Lakers. People’s TV’s can just as easily pick up reception out of Minnesota and why wouldn’t he want to play for the best, most exciting team in the league.
Also, I am not sure that a Kobe-Howard-Beasley axis can get it done. Beasley is a step down from Pau, and Bynum has more offensive range than Dwight Howard. The Lakers would still be behind the Heat and Thunder, and probably the Clippers still.
I am wondering if Dwight Howard’s lackluster and goofy performance in the All-Star game hurt his performance. He looked decidedly smaller than Andrew Bynum and then got his hook shot blocked by AB. I didn’t really notice Dwight down the stretch either. Shaq dominated basketball so he could afford to take a junk 3 pointer in an all-star game. Dwight hasn’t won $hit so he can’t jack up 3’s like he’s the next Ray Allen. Plus, Blake Griffin is the new running, jumping, dunking, rebounding, highlight kid on the block.
Dwight is more like a combination of Nate Thurmond and Darryl Dawkins, not Shaq and Kareem.

MattHoopsParticipantGreat idea, but Howard would never want to stay in Minnesota. If he does not want to stay in Orlando why would he want to stay in Minny? I agree with other posters..I do not get why Minnesota wants Pau Gasol so much.. He is a great talent…But we have Pek and Love.. We need a 2 and a 3.

TyroberParticipantI really like the OPs trade. If the wolves are still crazy over Gasol this makes sense.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/28/2012 - 2:20pm #642174
BiggysmallsParticipantI’ve heard rumblings that Gasol would be willing to restructure his contract so it would be like 20 mil over the next 3 or 4 years instead of just 2. If that is the case, the Wolves would have a ton of money to pursue a shooting guard in the offseason.
The Twolves may be going for as many shooting guards as possible, but if nobody wants to give them one, its tough sleddin. Teams know the Wolves a 2 guard short of being of being really scary, so who is gonna just give them one?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/28/2012 - 2:37pm #642177
aamir543ParticipantThe only problem I have with this trade is that The Wolves now have Gasol, Love, and Pek, none of which can play the 3. But value wise, this is a great trade. Gasol can still play, and IF they can flip Pek for say a Kevin Martin? Not a bad trade, but unless they plan on playing Love at the three(Which I highly doubt) they would have too many good bigs.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI don’t think that the Lakers are an automatic favorite with an addition of Dwight Howard.
Kobe and Howard would be a great combo but Barea, Beasley, Artest, etc. aren’t s strong enough
supporting cast.I now think that the Lakers would do this trade for the future. Dwight Howard and Odom’s trade exception
would help the Lakers going forward. Maybe they go after Deron Williams to try to get one more ring for Kobe.Orlando would win this trade. The all-star Bynum to build around with a rising star in Derrick Williams. Those two guys
plus Ryan Anderson and Big Baby is a nice front line.I think that it would be a questionable trade for the T Wolves. They are already set at power forward and center and Derrick
Williams has potential.0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/28/2012 - 6:03pm #642259
HarbingerNow we rember the vetoed trade that would have sent gasol to houston now if they could include hou in the deal to get kmart and other assets and send gasol to the rockets that would be worth it …
But the Lakers need to get rid of bynum now being a laker fan I know he’s having a good season but his history of injury really scares me dumo him while you can.
