Watched this game and had a few comments to make:

    – Andrew Bynum is a monster. Marc Gasol is big and aggressive, and Bynum just dominated him tonight. 37 points (15-18 FG and 7-8 FT) and 16 rebounds. I think Kobe has done a great job feeding him recently, but he needs even more touches.

    – There are a lot of OJ Mayo fans on this site and I don’t see why. It’s not that the 7-25 FG (0-8 3-PT) wasn’t ugly… It’s the fact he had one assist in 40 minutes. He was awful. Oh and zero free-throw attempts.

    – The Lakers really struggle on the road. They’ve struggled to beat teams without their star players. Rudy Gay didn’t play tonight and Lakers needed two OT’s to take down the Grizzlies.

    – Other than Steven Blake, Lakers got absolutely nothing out of their bench. The Lakers need to make a move during the deadline. Kobe, Bynum and Gasol played big minutes tonight, which is sad considering they have a game tomorrow night in New Orleans.

    – I love Rajon Rondo and Kyle Lowry at the defensive end, but Mike Conley just may be the best defensive point guard in the league that doesn’t get talked about. He’s a lockdown on ball defender.

Grizzlies weren’t attacking the basket lol.

I mean, Mayo literally took 25 shots and they were all jumpshots. Not one drive to the basket. Every player on the Grizzlies lived outside of the paint.

Flashback to Clippers 42-15 game. Wow. He was dominant. Like, he couldn’t be stopped. It’s not easy to put up 37 on Marc, and Bynum did it efficiently w/ ease. LeeGGooo!

and Conley is the best pg defender IMO, nobody ever credits him because he is a poor scorer (watch my neg count from the Westbrook and Paul riders). Anyways Wow I watched it as well and that was impressive. Memphis really missed Gay tonight in that 4th quarter, they gave that one away.

I was at the game and want to make a few points…

1.Give Tony Allen the credit for Conley’s improvement on defense..Allen’s defensive intensity has rubbed off on the entire team…Memphis use to be among the worst defensive teams in the nba until the addition of Allen…Conley still struggles in transition defense..Its when he’s playing defense in halfcourt ,becuz a teammate is there to back him up,if he makes a mistake..Conley leads the nba in steals becuz he’s pushed himself to become a better player..He’s not as talented as some of the other pgs in the nba,so he has to play harder and give a 100% effort on every play…

2.Coach Hollins has given Mayo the greenlight to shoot the ball, whenever he has an open shot..Selby was drafted becuz he was a shoot 1st point guard,Pargo was signed becuz he was also a shoot 1st pg..Thats why Memphis has been disappointed in their play, becuz coach Hollins wants them to shoot more and both have had trouble scoring..Mayo has been used as Conley’s backup the past few weeks..Mayo’s shooting % might look awful to us,but as long as he scores 14 points or more a night,in coach Hollins eyes… Mayo is doing exactly what he asked for..

3.Speights has been a godsend, the way he’s been hitting the boards have surprised everyone..Plus he’s displayed a nice outside touch..Speights have played so well, that when he becomes a free agent this summer,Memphis might not be able to afford him..Cunningham also has supplied a boost, his hustle on defense has been a huge help….

4.Memphis have an open roster spot and have been looking to add a veteran outside shooter…Look for them to acquire 1 before the trade deadline..

Memphis’ improvement on defense has been not only Tony Allen’s influence, but also Lionel Hollins’ style of coaching.

Last year’s defense used to gamble on many plays to go for the steal. This year they still get a lot of steals, but they are gambling a little bit less.

Speights was always talented, he got his shot right now and is doing really well.

Kobe Bryant played 52 minutes and didn’t commit a foul. He must use an invisibility cape. “I’m not going to go there,” said Marc Gasol, when asked to comment about the officiating. “I’m not going to give my money away.” Memphis Commercial Appeal

    LMAO
