The Lakers may be found guilty of Tampering.   I want to know what you think their punishment should be if they are guilty.

Heat lost 1 Miles and a first round pick. When they tampered to get Riley.

But of course he wasn’t a Allstars calibre player.

Minnesota got busted for J. Smith.  Their punishment was for 5 first round draft picks. Later reduced to just 3.

Case can be made that PG13 collusion is worse than the Smith example.

So what do you think the punishment should be.

(I think it ends up being 2 first and a 2 million fine,  or 1 1st. 2 Mil and the Lakers can’t sign George)

I mean I doubt the league does something because it’s the lakers and they are just so eager to see them at the top again because they profit so much when they are winning. On the other hand, if they did they should be punished because losing a player like George is such a loss but it’s an even bigger loss to a small market team like the pacers. The purpose of the draft is so small market teams can get those superstar players they can’t get in free agency but when you have the big boys also bullying like this as well you have no shot at sustaining a quality roster or retaining big talent!

Joe smith wasn’t really tampering. He was a free agent and he wanted to play for wolves. They just didn’t have the cap space so they signed in paper a secret deal that would begin 1 year later if he played for cheap the first season.

As for lakers, I’m curious if they have anything on them other then the magic comments on jimmy kimmel. If that’s all they have, then maybe a 50k fine and tell him don’t do it again.

I’m not going to answer your question, because I don’t think it is tampering. It’s very hard for any free agent coup to be considered tampering. Yes, Paul George wants to be a Laker and he did tell them that before the draft which did lower his trade value, however Paul George was born in LA and grew up being a laker fan. He always wanted to play for the Lakers. I don’t think the Lakers were recruiting him to play for them when he was 10 years old. (Who does that?) If Paul George has always wanted to be Laker and grew being a Laker fan than why didn’t the Pacers do their homework in the 2010 draft? Don’t you think they would have seen this? Yet, they drafted him anyways, which shows faith that he would stay with the team. Well as in all cases, you win some and you lose some.

Honestly, I think the Pacers are just bitter that they don’t have PG13 anymore and are lashing out at something, in a sense grasping for straws anything to help them somehow regain what they lost when they dealt George to the Thunder.

And who knows if George will even be a Laker in the end. What if George ends up really liking it in OKC, and the Thunder end up doing better than last year? I don’t think George has ever advanced past the first round in the playoffs. What if the Thunder make it to the semifinals, does George stay if that happens? I think he would. So can you really call it tampering if the player in question doesn’t even end up with the team that was filed for tampering?

& all these players vacation & spend their summer here in L.A. so Magic probably crosses paths with All these current (& former) players plus their families, friends & agents

Obviously I am Praying this is sour grapes on the part of the Pacers management

However, I have to be fair & if Magic did do something & if I was a fan of that team I would be Very upset & rightly so

What has me a little bit worried is that when Magic was hired espn did a story about why Mitch K was let go & they reported that Lakers owner Jeannie Buss was very upset that Mitch would stick w/ the letter of the law where Free Agency was concerned & that Mitch Kupchack Refused to contact Any Free Agent until 12 midnight on the official, legal (according to NBA standards & practices) start of the Free Agency period.

I can’t remember who did the piece but he or she reported that Lakers ownership was "hoping" that Magic’s vast connections w/ agents, friends & family members of these Top players that Magic could begin the "Flirting" phase much earlier

Now that last paragraph is my description or interpretation of the reporting but I’m just hoping Magic did not go too far b/c it’s really not neccessary

So I’m Not going to criticize any Pacers Fans b/c obviusly losing PG13 is a crushing emotional blow & it would crush me too & I would be extremely emotional.

I’m just praying Magic did not cross any line.

This is just saltiness from the Pacers organization, who really have no reason to be salty.  The dick move would have been for George to say nothing, as the likes of KD and Lebron did before him.  He could have given no indication he wanted to leave, and then bolted.  In hindsight that probably would have been better for the Pacers instead of taking on such a shitty contract for a mediocre player in Oladipo but I digress.

Pacer fans shouldn’t be upset at Lakers management.  They should be upset with Pritchard for getting bent over in such a merciless manner by Presti.  Cousins, Butler, Irving and CP3 all fetched signficantly better hauls and outside of maybe CP3, Paul George is a better player than all of them.  It’s a shame from someone who at one point in time was considered a good GM, if you don’t count the whole Oden thing.  He’s clearly washed up.

Odds are nothing comes out of this but a fine of between $50,000 to $100,000 which is just a small drop in the ocean for the Lakers.

LeaveKobeAlone states this is worse than the Joe Smith move by Minnesota… again sour grapes considering you have nothing to substantiate such a claim aside from the fact you know… like the rest of us that the Lakers are being investigated.  But haters gonna hate.

On another side note… holy cow NBAdraft.net fix your site.  Geeze louise.  I was able to make a better website when I was in 6th grade and we were still on HTML1.  The fact that there is random javascript code being injected into my comments is beyond amateur… it’s actually quite malicious.  If you don’t have the money, maybe ask your loyal commenters for some help?  At the very least you should fire the amateurs who build this site and I am fairly confident you could find someone off Craigslist (I know right) who could put together a safer site.

I highly reccomend and hope that nobody is using important email addresses to log in to this site.  Your information is begging to be stolen.

PG13 has always let it be known he would like to join the Lakers at some stage in his career, I don’t see how that is different to Kyrie talking about favoured destinations. The Knicks let it be known back in 2008 they wanted to make a run at LBJ in 2010.

At the Olympics and World Championships the Dream Team will talk together and top players have respect for each other and may take soundings for their franchise. If a team had a star player and another star player could be nearing FA or possibly be traded for then if Player A could sell his team to Player B it will happen or Player A could say Player B would quite like the idea of them linking up.
