Russell0WestbrookParticipantShould the Lakers think about trading Gasol while everybody is very high on him? Not saying Bynum is better but the Lakers stand to lose more if they trade Bynum because he is the on bigman they have willing to bang with the other bigs in the post. Also Gasol’s value is pretty high and I feel they could get a lot in return. Another question I have about the Lakers is they run the triangle offense where anybody can post why don’t they use Artest to post up more. Phil should know Artest is at his best when they let him be a part of the offense even if its only a little bit. It could also bring his stock up to ship him out. They lost to the Cavs everybody should be availible except Kobe!

creepingdefParticipantTrading Gasol would be absolutely ridiculous. Trading a player who helped the Lakers achieve 3 straight finals appearances, 2 titles is a stupid idea. Before the trade went down, the Lakers were a 6th-8th seed in the West, and Gasol helped turn them around and take them to the Finals. He’s perfect for the triangle, and a perfect compliment to Kobe Bryant.

xavier328ParticipantNo…..only if its Dwight Howard which isnt going to happen….Pau Is the prefect big for our triangle….And Ron cant make a layup to save his life….but Phil hasnt put him in position to thrive in our offense by posting him more… he would be way more effective than his right now(Ron Artest)

BlueLacesParticipantBefore the Pau Gasol trade went down, the Lakers had the best record in the West at that time if I am not mistaken, it just allowed the rich to get richer. Witht that being said, I absolutely agree with you. It would be idiotic to even think about trading away Gasol (no pun intended russel).
I don’t think you see Artest in the post because they already give Kobe, Gasol and Bynum a lot of touches in the post as is. You’re not going to limit those guys touches just because Ron-ron feels uninvolved in the offense.

Afactor4ParticipantI think this is all knee jerk talk. When the season had just started, and basically since Pau came to the Lakers, he was suddenly proclaimed, perhaps rightly, as the best big in the NBA. Now, after a few bad games, and like a month and a half bad spell for the Lakers, he’s being labelled as being way too soft, and this that.

HitsterParticipantI’d love to see Kobe’s reaction if Pau was traded especially if Coach Jackson does retire after this season. Look at what Pau has achieved at the Lakers. Three straight All Star Games, 3 Conference titles, 3 Division Titles and 2 NBA titles.

Stanford hoops1lol. Hell no. Man people have short memories. The lakers lost 7 of there last 10 going into the playoffs last season. This team is built for the slow down game of the playoffs.

HitsterParticipantIn the play offs teams tend to go to a tighter roster and your stars play more minutes so the Lakers probably go to an 8 man roster rather than the expanded one they may use in regular season games. Thus Gasol, Kobe and co see heavier minutes. Gasol is still a very hard match up for a lot of NBA PF’s and takes a lot of the scoring burden off Kobe throughout games and is a vital part of Coach Jackson’s famous offence.
