FastAndFuriousParticipantSeriously need a PG, what are they waiting for?????!!!
Jose Calderon had 30 points tonight, like if that’s not a wake up call IDK what is.
Fisher has had a great career, but I don’t think he could guard average people at the YMCA anymore, the Lakers need to do something about this or they will be getting another early exit in the post season.

bobbybParticipantmore importantly they need a 6th man. Someone who can just come in and score that can create his own shot. Their bench has no offensive production.

CoachWorthyParticipantbut the Raptors love Calderon and he wouldn’t be cheap. The Lakers have no trade peices besides the picks and the Raptors dont need picks they need some glue, a center and some veterans. The Lakers will have to pick between Sessions, maybe Devin Harris, Iverson and Gilbet Areanas. So no matter what happens on March 16th only 10-15 colleges will have better point guards than the Lakers.

llperezi have been calling for fishers replacement since i joined this site. But many laker and non laker fans blasted me saying how fish always hit big shots. Well, now he is officially done. I dont mean like there might be better options done or he cant give you 30 minutes done. IM talking about that dude should no longer be wearing an nba jersey done. I mean college guys would school his as.s done. I mean lin and calderon are droppoing 30+ a night on him and every single pg in the nba is a superstar vs fisher done. Oh, and he doesnt hit shots anymore either. Stick a fork in him.

bobbybParticipantI dont think " youngdave" was advocatingLakers getting Calderon, i think he was simply stating they his level of production at the point guard position vs Fisher

NCarmean18ParticipantFish has had a nice career, and has complimented Kobe very well with his time spent playing alongside Kobe Bryant. But it’s a known fact, Fish is not an NBA-calibur player anymore. His body just can’t keep up with the younger guys. Fisher has had such an influence on the Lakers that it’d be sad to see him go, but it needs to happen. If he wanted to look out for the team, he’d probably be better off retiring before the season ends, but the Lakers and the NBA owe a little respect to him.
The Lakers have a decent option with Steve Blake as a backup, but he is no starter. Darius Morris may get there, but they need someone right now if they want to help Kobe win a 6th ring. The obvious option would be to go after Ramon Sessions from Cleveland. Sessions is a good passer and defender who can also score if called upon. He’s not a bad rebounding guard either. This guy has all of the intangibles to be a pretty nice option at the point guard position. He would be an immediate upgrade from anybody on that roster who is a point guard.
However, not only do the Lakers need a point guard, but they need a small forward and quite possible someone who can come in and score off of the bench. A guy who could do both of these things coming to mind is Ronnie Brewer on the Chicago Bulls. Brewer isn’t the most effective fellow, but he can sure be an energy guy on that rather slow Laker bench. He has a high motor which could impact the Staple Center and help get him team more hyped in serious situations. He can also play rather good defense while defending both 2s and 3s.
I honestly think the Lakers never should have tried to trade for Chris Paul in the first place. They would have been without two All-Star studs in Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol, and a good scorer off of the bench in Lamar Odom. Since this offended Lamar so dearly, they lost that scorer who could come off of the bench and play good basketball night in and night out. Lamar was "that guy" but now they need somebody else to be "that guy".
I know a lot of people speculate so I guess we will just see what happens.

Huh? Only Pau and Lamar were going for CP3, not all 3. I’d make that trade 10 times out of 8.
lakers would still need depth, but CP3’s arrival brings that…Kenyon martin didn’t want to play w/ Blake griffin, he wants to play w/ cp3 the unquestionable leader of that team. Hats off to Mitch for making the trade btw. But I guarantee you depth would be knocking at the lakers door because everybody wants a free ride to a ring.
Another thing i hafta get off my chest, Steve blake can’t defend to save his life! It’s not just Fisher

bobbybParticipantGasol is a one of kind player, no way i would trade Lamar and Gasol for CP3. The only person i would trade Gasol for is to somehow get D12. I thought the Lamar/Bynum for D12 would have been a fair trade for both parties.

db24kb24ParticipantGasol is a great player, no doubt about it. But look at the Lakers this year.
- Calderon has a career high(30pts)& Lakers ESCAPE (courtesy of KB24) at LOWLY Toronto!
- Jeremy Lin has a career high (38pts) & Lakers Lose against the LOWSY and Imjured Knicks!
- Jameer Nelson is averaging 8 pts and goes for 17 in a loss to the Magic.
The list goes on, but the point is that these players don’t have good nights w/ CP3 guarding them. Also the Lakers are 21 out of 30 in ppg. Offense is not an issue with CP3 running the show. CP3 would have patched some of the biggest holes we have (perimeter defense, ball movement). KB24 wouldn’t hafta expend all his energy scoring and facilitating. Thank you again david stern.

FastAndFuriousParticipantYea I wasn’t vouching for Calderon, I was just saying that if he can give Fisher 30 then it’s time to let Fisher go, or give one of the young guys a chance lol might have a Jeremy Lin in waiting j/k.

JunkYardDogParticipantI really don’t think arenas or iverson could be the solution…
… but there is some PG you can trade for : calderon would be great, sessions would be a good solution too, dragic would fit.
I think they should try to land one of those three (I would choose) using the trade exception they got, some 2nd round picks, ebanks, caracter, morris or goudelock.

CoachWorthyParticipantI would go all in for Dwight. If the Magic take Bynum and Gasol (man thats a lot to give) and no picks for Dwight and Hedo( future amnesty candidate and you dont need to save it for Andrew anymore in 2014). Then send one first round pick to Cleveland for Sessions or both or a 2013 for him and Varajao. Then use the other for Stephen Jackson or John Salmons.
Dwight
Varajao
Metta / Barnes / Hedo
Kobe/ Ebanks/ Reddick(maybe)
Sessions / the gang that cant shoot straight
The Lakers actually want to get rid of two allstars for one remember the CP3 trade.

iguapops420ParticipantLamar Odom has never once been an All-star. And Mitch Kupchak has stated several times that they won’t traade both BYnum and Gasol for Dwight. So, no, they don’t have any intentions on trading 2 all-stars for one.
Not to mention, sources sy that Dwight wants to be able to play with Pau.

JunkYardDogParticipantI don’t think you have the right to use your amnesty on a player you traded for…
So if you get hedo in a trade you need to use him.
