chdieselParticipantSo he’s only played in 8 games this year and he is already a #2 pick according to draft.net? If that’s the case, then my whole opinion of scouts in the NBA and the whole draft in general is just plain garbage. Anyone else’s thoughts?

lalailaParticipantbut in those games he did almost everything taht scouts need and there were no signs of becoming inconsistent player.

BKKnicksfanParticipantLet me guess….you think Perry Jones should be the #1 pick?

sammybuckeye13ParticipantSometimes all a player needs is a single 2-hour workout (see: Saer Sene) to become a lottery pick. Think of it as, Irving gave 8 amazing workouts.

I’m sorry, that’s a negative one in my book.

HitsterParticipantA lot will depend on his workouts and how his interviews go but teams will have tracked his HS games and no doubt would speak to Coach K to get his thoughts on Irving etc.

chdieselParticipantNever said Perry Jones was a number one pick, but only 8 games? That’s not near enough games, plus other than playing against Kstate and Marquette, who did he play against worth a crap?

BKKnicksfanParticipantAs a Duke fan, Irving is missed alot by Duke and should be considered as a top 5 pick.
Duke went from a team looking to repeat, to a team with no chance of winning a title.

RicoParticipantEvery player in this draft has question marks. Kanter hasn’t played, Derrick Williams and Sullinger are short, Perry Jones and Barnes completely disappear at times. Irving in those 8 games simply showed less holes in his game and more star power than anyone else.
Plus consider almost all the bad teams could really use a franchise PG, this above all is why his stock is so high.

mikeyvthedonParticipantTrue, we may not be great, but he thoroughly housed us. True, it is a risk too draft Irving, but in the games he played he looked awesome. Judging by the fact that he was also awesome against premier HS competition and that he goes through work outs and interviews with NBA teams, he looks like a baller. It is difficult to evaluate a player in 8 games, and slightly scary that he had a season ending injury, but I am sure he will also go through medical exams to make sure this is not a lingering prospect.
The fact that you dislike him being drafted that high without naming viable other options or players you would take in front of him makes my opinion of your entire argument in general totally irrelevant. The draft is a risk, and while you may not want to risk a top pick on a guy who has played 8 games, that guy very well may be the best player in this draft. Their is not a lot of precedent for a player playing this few competitive games and being drafted this high, but I still am not sure that his sustaining an injury he will likely come back from at 100% is enough of a reason for him to sink amongst his likely peers if he enters this draft. But, I guess things might have been different for Kyrie if he hadn’t looked like an All-American in the 8 games he played. He definitely did though.

JimmeredYaWabafetParticipantu cant blame people for calling him the next Marbury or Tony Parker, he played mainly against weak competition and his assist to turnover ratio is nowhere near what CPaul did as a freshman, steals way less than Paul but commits less fouls, really dont see anyone u can compare him to from today, but there is Derrick Rose who was worse than Kyrie in college,so he probably could turn into Cp if he puts his mind to it
