At the beggining of the season everyone saw Lowry improvd dramatically. For anyone who has missed it Kyle Lowry is emerging as one of the elite players of the league right now. Take it with a grain of salt though because last year at this same time the Raptors were number 1 in the league and Lowry was getting heavy MVP consideration.

So far he has in my opinion outplayed Wall for top gaurd in the East this season (although Wall has been playing great as of late). He is averaging 22-points, 5-rebounds, 6-assists, 2.5-steals and 3.0 3points a game. The most shocking one is the 3’s.

For reference theres only 2 players in the  top 5 of NBA record books for most 3pointers made in a season not named Stephen Curry. Dennis Scott, and Ray Allen. Allen is in 3rd place with 269 3points made in 78 games or 3.4 per game. Lowry is on pace for 246. Other than Curry x3, Allen x1, Scott x1, and  George Mccloud x1 noone has made 246 3’s in a year.

It’s funny because I remember when Lowry got traded to the Raptors I expected him to have been as advertised a stubborn problematic player who wasn’t going to improve his shot. Yet for some reason I believed Derozans would always improve. Was I ever wrong.

Lowry has become the undisputed franchise player and I hope he doesn’t drop the ball this year like he did last. You guys think the strong play will continue?

He looks a lot quicker and I think being lighter will help him with his stamina. He was in poor shape last year and thats probably why he had trouble staying healthy and wore down throughout the year. I think he finishes stronger this year for sure.

I think his weight was what led to him playing hurt late last season and into the playoffs. It’s refreshing to see what he’s done this year.

Great post! Kyle Lowry has quietly been killing it for a while, but is rarely talked about on here. We all know the NBA is stacked at PG, but on any given night Lowry can be the best player on the floor. He’s that good.

Lowry isn’t the same kind of "floor general" or pass-first type PG as say CP3, Rubio, or Rondo, but much more the deadly scorer who is also one of the best passers in the world, such as Dame Lillard or Steph Curry. Nothing wrong with either type of PG, but given the Raptors current team around Lowry outside of DeRozan, I’d say he’s a perfect fit.

I believe the Raptors need to add a starting-quality offensive threat at PF. Idk who would be available, maybe a buy-low attempt for Markieff Morris? Even when Val gets back, a consistent threat at PF is needed for this team to turn up.

I’m thinking Thaddeus Young or Markieff Morris maybe the only available options at PF right now.

Lowry looked really slow and heavy down the stretch last year. Not sure if the weight gain led to the injuries or the injuries led to the weight gain. Either way he looks fantastic so far this year. He is clearly the pulse of this team. I do I agree with the previous post about them needing an upgrade at pf to really be a legit contender. The scola-patterson duo doesn’t do it for me. I do think biyombo has been somewhat of a pleasant surprise so far.

Lowry is the third best PG in the league so far, and #1s and 2 are the top 2 MVP candidates thus far. Whether that will continue, we’ll see, but so far, Lowry has just outplayed everyone else at his spot.

My only concern with Lowry is Casey. I know Casey gets it bad from raps fans, but my real complaint is how poorly he manages player time. He will need to let Lowry take some nights off (lower minutes as apposed to rest) through the season. the bench is deep, and he needs to start using it more. the rotations can be sured up closer to playoffs, but i see little issues with delon wright getting some run to help take some of the load off.
