It’s a crime if he falls out of the lottery.

If Jabari was a sloth = Kyle Anderson.

I feel I have a higher vertical than this guy, and I could block every one of his shots, and steal everyone of his slowwww crossovers.

He’ll need to work on that slow release. He almost pauses before he releases. Very blockable when you put an NBA defender on him.

Tayshaun prince has a slower release and he has survived. Besides, take a team like zona who guarded Anderson straight up both matchups with Aaron Gordon, Kyle averaged 18.5 ppg…13rpg…5.5apg in those 2 matchups where he was defended by Gordon all game. I know it’s a concern with his slow release, but he usually gets guys off balance before he pulls up and he’s 6-9 and keeps it above his head so he doesn’t need a lot of time to get it off. Dx’s breakdown actually showed he has one of the highest points per shot averages when being contested of any wing in this draft. He regularly shoots over outstretched hands.

There are plenty of guys in the league with slow releases and it does not appear to be a problem.  Paul Pierce has a slow release.  Manu also has a very slow wind up but has never been a problem.

Court awareness, vision, anticipation, and a sense for where teammates are on the floor are assets that are difficult to measure.

I am sure Kyle Anderson and his agent are cognizant of the fact that athleticism is not his strength and is not going to be the reason why a team drafts him. He is going to be drafted for three reasons:

    1. His ability to find open teammates and deliver the ball where and when they need it
    2. The mismatches created by his size
    3. He rebounds exceptionally well for a PG (third in the Pac-12 in rebounding)

Those are strengths that just aren’t going to show up in workouts. He isn’t the next Chris Paul or the next Russell Westbrook, nor is he claiming to be. He is billing himself as a guy who will set the table for teammates, rack up assists and rebounds, and make up for his perimeter defense deficiency / lack of quickness with length to block shots and deflect passes.

He is a PG, not a SF. I have him going after Marcus Smart, Tyler Ennis, and Elfrid Payton, but before Shabazz Napier, Semaj Christian, Micic, Dinwiddie, and Clarkson.

the buzz is he put on quite a show in a workout in atlanta.  good enough that they requested a second workout.  a lot of ex-spurs personnel…many believe they seem him as a boris diaw 2.0.  reported by adam zagoria with zagsblog.com.

there was also rumblings that he stood out in a celtics workout with the likes of warren, hairston, early, daniels and mcdaniels.  this was from a tweet from jeff goodman with espn.

looks like he may be in the mid-1st range…

Then you realize it’s Slo-Mo and he’s going full speed right now.  I’m a Kyle Anderson fan.  I’m just happy he will get drafted in the first round.  I’m still not convinced that players need to be able to lock down defensively to get minutes in this league.  Especially as a young prospect, y’all basically selling beach front property in Idaho.  I’m tired of hearing it…  KD doesn’t play defense like that (let’s not begin to discuss James Harden).  Not saying these players will have the same amount of impact just it’s not a huge problem.

My issue with Kyle is what position does he play?  He’s 6’9 with a 7 foot wing span, if he’s not quick to guard guys he’ll be long enough to stay in front of them.  I would think if you draft Kyle, you should do it with the thought of him being your PG and have a big team.  That way you will have to match up with them or get thrashed by bigger guys. (Granted that will only work if everyone can shoot, hello Atlanta!)

He won’t get past the 15th pick. It looks like he had a heck of a workout in the ATL. Some Hawks fans are a little bummed about him coming back for a second workout because they want somebody with more athleticism on the wing. I personally like Anderson’s game. He brings a LOT to the table. He’s not an athlete who happens to play basketball, but rather a pure basketball player. It will be interesting to see how his game will hold up in the NBA.

The Rajon Randos and Jrue Holliday’s of the NBA would just be licking at their chops to press this guy every possesion if he plays PG.  I would help him specialize his 3 point and mid range game and try and groom him into a Rip Hamilton type.  He would be scary hard to guard with that type of mid range game and passing ability he already has.

I agree that Kyle Anderson is a PG. But he is being compared to Boris Diaw (from the Hawks) and I’ve even heard some people compare him to Lamar Odom or Hedo Turkoglu. All 3 of those guys play small forward, but they are known for their versatility. So just because most people consider him a PG does not mean he is going to play the Point in the NBA. He is more of a Point Forward than a Point Guard. Which means if the Hawks drafted him he would be playing the SF position, and be asked to create mismatches, shoot 3’s , and create for his teammates. His defense would be questionable. But Coach Alford knew his defense was bad and was able to mask that when Anderson was on the floor. Any team that drafts him is going to have to do the same. Tuck 243 is right, Slo-Mo’s lack of athletic ability is not going to affect him on defense, if the team that drafts him is able to mask his defensive deficiences. Which I think the Hawks can. Both Danny Ferry and Mike Budenholzer come from the Spurs. The Spurs, the same team that has used Boris Diaw quite well. He has become a matchup nightmare for current playoff teams (even in the west, he has been considered a matchup nightmare). Lets face it the best Spurs starting lineup is Parker, Ginobli, Leonard, Diaw and Duncan. So if the Spurs can do it with Boris Diaw, then I’m sure the Hawks, who have 2 people from the Spurs(Ferry and Budenholzer) can do it with who they think is Boris Diaw 2.0 (Kyle Anderson)

Therefore the Hawks lineup would be Teague, Korver, Anderson, Millsap, Horford. That’s not too bad of a lineup of you ask me. I am also high on Kyle Anderson and I would be happy to have that lineup if I was the Hawks.
